Techradar Acer C120 Review

One of my mates has it and agrees with review: It's not the best or the brightest, but when it comes to portable projectors on a budget, Acer has got it nailed. Achieving around 100 Lumens of brightness, this tiny micro projector – one that gets all of its power from the USB ports of a connected laptop – is the darling of the portable Powerpoint presentation.

It's on Clearance & at a bargain price. It is very tiny in size & ultra portable. My mate at times uses it to watch movies on his bedroom wall, sounds fun this little thing.

Very few stores would have stock though, taken off Officeworks website already.

Officeworks rep checked stock levels for a few local South East Melbourne suburbs - Pakenham has 1, Dandenong South got 2 and Traralgon 1. So, likely few more would be left country wide while they phase it out completely.

Enjoy the bargain!! :)

Native Resolution of 854 x 480 and requiring two USB ports are show stoppers for me.

      Wow, makes $100 seem steep

any other branded usb powered 480p led projector @ $100 ?

        • go have a look and report back about your findings

    • +3

You can use just the one USB 3.0 port to power it in eco mode at 75 lumens the second usb 2.0 cable is to power it up to 100 lumens(if wanted).

    • No built in Battery, say 30'000 mah ?
      Not so portable then ….

      • Its portability is directly proportional to one having a laptop in the first place & its battery capacity.

Yeah…how this isn't 4K HD, 4000 Lumens, and only requiring 1 USB port to power it at $100 is ridiculous.

    • I thought 100 lumens wouldn't be enough to start the show.

    • $100 is the right price for low res projector thou

      • One could argue that $50 is the right price for a budget Android phone, but if it doesn't meet your requirements it is a waste of money, and you would be better spending more for the right phone.

For some people this phone will meet their needs. For my intended use of connecting it to a Raspberry Pi it won't.

How does this compare to the Chinese ones for about $50-$100?

    • +9

This one would project English characters on the screen

    • How about comparing it vs. the V200 Very Happy Projector from Aliexpress?

      • not very happy with this one

      • +2

going by the specs the V200 is 10lumens.
This is ~100 lumens so this one is heaps brighter

i bought a chinese one from ebay for under $100… resolution is terrible (despite claims of HD quality image), hard to get focus right, the in-built speaker sounds terrible and distorted, and the fan is annoying loud. Don't buy one lol

      • That's where Acer brand value kicks in as their product undergoes intensive testing and quality is likely to be maintained higher than non branded.

If I wasn't so lazy I'd walk across the road to officeworks and check if they have one. But I am lazy.

    • +5

You at least read the post, that's not that lazy.

  • +5

Hmm, tempted to give it a test as I've always wanted some kind of projector but I know the low res will annoy me after about 5 seconds…

    • Same here, LMK if you end up purchasing a projector/if its good.

  • Other officeworks?

    • Pakenham rep mentioned same offer is on in other Officeworks as well and I checked a few nearby stores with stock available (mentioned above). I guess will require a call to your nearest Officeworks before your visit.

    • Seen this $150 on 04-Feb at West Ryde, not sure now

      • Yeah, was $150, but likely to be $100 now as consistent with other Officeworks.

  • Sadly my local officeworks said that clearance items don't show in the system. Which is blatant bulls*it. Useless….

    • I'm sure there is a way around. This dude checked stock on a handheld device instead of the system. But I guess they'll be interlinked somehow.
