For some reason this old code works and is doubling up with a new discount they have over this weekend on the 8th gen intels. 8% off spend over $1,800 + code: JANWELC2018 = $2,565.97 (final price will show in the cart).

No it's not the cheapest way to get these specs, but it is a great price for what is a trooper of a laptop. Very solid and super light. I've got the 2nd gen x1 and it has been through absolute hell.

      • Looks good. Not yet released in Oz?

        • 2 more weeks!!!

    • How high spec? There's numeric keypads with mobile Xeons in the P series.

    • P50s

All the P50 and P50s models come with an IPS screen as standard, so you can just buy the cheapest one you can find on ebay and upgrade to an SSD

3 Year onsite warranty or nothing. 1 year RTB is a joke.

You have the option of 2, 3, 4 or 5 years onsite warranty when you purchase.

      Your post is a joke.

I have always been using the X1 Carbons for a long time. My first one was the Gen 2 and my current one Gen 5. They just work and soldier on through the day especially the Gen 5. All day battery life and chewing through spreadsheets. Very light for work travel and super thin. I had the FHD screen and the colour accuracy is ok (around 90-100% sRGB).

I've had Gen 1, currently have Gen 3 and will now add Gen 6 to my collection. The Gen 3 I'll keep using as well but I mainly wanted the Gen 6 because I can charge it using type C usb so when travelling it's one less thing to carry plus I can charge from a powerbank. Great notebooks and good value for money compared to the alternatives.

Same. Cutting down on 2 chargers for my phone and laptop is a pretty big advantage for me.

I currently carry a powerbank and charger for the laptop, 1 charger for both is quite handy.

        • Same. Cutting down on 2 chargers for my phone and laptop is a pretty big advantage for me.

I don't travel as much as you but it's worth it for me just for our Europe trips each year, I don't have to scramble around to try and find a charger if my Lenovo one dies or is lost, it's one less item to carry plus the power cord, I can charge on the move which is important especially on trains where the AC power can be off more than on and the big thing is the weight savings of a few hundred grams which means I can being back another bottle of curry sauce.

And I think there is a 150 gram weight saving on the laptop as well which I will notice as it's on my back all day.

I currently carry a powerbank and charger for the laptop, 1 charger for both is quite handy.

I get redundancy as my wife carries a charger in her case that will charge type C devices as well so that's another benefit. I just need to wait now for a dual type C and 4 x type A charger to come out before our next trip in September and I'll be set.

1.13kg is 30-40% lighter than other laptops in its range that aren’t ‘business’ laptop.

    • +9

You've already childishly said this laptop isn't for you, why are you still posting trolling comments? Just move right along if this deal isn't for you.

Business laptops are better built than regular consumer laptops. They last longer and have better driver support, along with detailed hardware maintenance manuals.

Nope, don't hit that reply button - stop right there and move right along, this deal isn't for you. You don't have to comment on deals that aren't for you, or that you don't understand.

      • -1

Are you trying to tell me I have no business being here ?

        • Diggity. Spreadsheets love so much. You know too much about how everything in grown up world works. I thank you for the lesson.

No idea about the real world and how critical a presentation can be.

You really do need to move along, keep your hands in your pants and gaming ftw.

I find that hilarious as well. A cleaner working for an IT company also works in IT. Your comments show you have no experience.

@Maverick-au: yeah nice one bro lol. You're the target audience for business gear. Enjoy.

what's hilarious Is I work in IT

What's funny about that? Are your words meant to mean more because of your day job?

        • @Lorindor: why not? If you read previous comments you'll see many assumed im a kid who's into gaming PC's and that seemed to invalidate my opinion in their view, so wouldn't being an adult software engineer do the opposite? Only works one way I suppose.

        • @FatBlanket: probably because you talk and put forward arguments like a 5-year-old

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/5677562/redir

so they do business stuff super good ?

          yeah nice one bro lol.

What do you want? You seem to be craving validation for your opinions?

        • @FatBlanket: Well, normally it would work that way, but you seemed to take advantage of it to try and prove some point, which evidently back fired.

        • @ChickenTalon: hater's gonna hate

I’m so glad we ave these wonderfull we’ll informed and experienced members on this site that obviously know far more about business IT than all the businesses and corporations in the world….

As a business IT professional, I’ve decided I’m now no longer going to contribute to discussions on business IT products on this site, I’ll just leave the kids to argue about their budget gaming laptops…

This is the problem, they think because they can swap a video card or shove some ram in a computer that this makes them an IT professional when all it really does is show they can do what any monkey can do. They think their new found skills means they can partake in any level of IT conversation and parade around like an expert.

        • Exactly. I’ve built many a desktop in my day. But no way I’m (profanity) around with mission critical stuff. I need my laptop to work every time no matter how bad I treat it.

I arrive with a dead laptop and I’m up 3k on a presentable machine at the arrival hall, happens once a year and the super cheap savings on a shitty machine don’t add up

Add 'business' to the tag, stick on an extra 20-30% to the price of what its really worth.

Gotta hand it to the person that came up with the term. It was a masterstroke and now he/ she's laughing to the bank!

      • +3

Whatever. I don’t think you unterstand either. After 3 flights and 4 hours on the most ass-fk bumpy road to deliver a prssso worth $15mil in Australian export revenue then you’ll then understand. I’ve mortgaged my house for my business and if I can’t sell it’s game over for me. I simply can’t have my laptop fail on me.

Yes, an extreme example. But not far from the truth.

  • Why not use code FEBWELC2018? Just checked, it has the same discount with code JANWELC2018

  • Huh, DDR3 RAM in an 8th Gen Intel? ?

    • ALL laptops are still LPDDR3, there is no LPDDR4 support for any CPUs as yet.

      • Yeap same with XPS13 8th Gen, its LPDDR3.

      • I wouldn't say "ALL". I could link to some examples, but I won't, as clearly LPDDR3 is still prevalent. From what I've been reading it's used because power consumption is than LPDDR4.

  • This is my work laptop and it is excellent. I am not sure if i would buy it myself though.

Paying a premium for a laptop not for the spec's, but for being able to mistreat it. Welcome to 2018

    • It's a handy self defence tool.

IBM / Lenovo laptops have had a huge following for over 20 years, starting with the T series.

We have long ago passed the point where cpu power matters, anything with at least 2 cores is fast enough for business use. What does matter is build quality, connectivity, battery life, and a decent keyboard that wont be damaged if you drop a glass of water on it.

People pay 3k for a macbook air without blinking, this is the windows equivalent. Think of it as the Nokia of laptops. You can't appreciate how well designed it is until you use something that isn't.

  • no sd card? :/

    • Nice. No idea how to find those specific model numbers though. Don't seem to come up in searches and the model number for the i7 pre-build system is 20KHA006AU

    • Looks like those models are for re-sellers (Lenovo Business Parter) as none of the codes are on there from Lenovo's own website (but appears on other shopfronts)

  • I'm sorry I missed this - I would have been all over it.

  • How could I miss this deal :(

  • Mine arrived yesterday along with the side load thunderbolt 3 dock.

Love it, great bit of kit. Change in location of the left "ctrl" key is taking some getting used to though.
