Is this the same con that was discussed on Stereonet this week?

  • I bought two of these last year and cannot recommend them highly enough. One unit was bricked in a software update but was replaced without any hassles.

    • +9

Replaced by AMAZON Germany ? How did you return the bricked unit ?

    • Why would you recommend something that died within a year?

  • +11

I sent the unit back on my DHL Express account, sent them copy of the invoice and they credited me the invoice value to my CC. This was agreed upon prior to sending the unit back. Amazon paid the shipping back to AUS as well for the replacement. I could not ask or expect anything less.

    • +1

Thanks for the update. Good to hear the Germans are as fair as their UK and US counterparts. I returned a shirt recently to Amazon US (did not fit) and was refunded my return postage and item original cost. A while ago I was offered a full refund (incl ret postage) on a Kenwood Chef mixer by Amazon UK just because one attachment was damaged (although I just kept it in the end - Kenwood AU sent me a replacement).

      • No worries, I have had similar experiences with US where they have refunded shipping for faulty goods and replacement. I cannot complain about Amazon and their backing with any of my purchases, so far.

  • It says does not ship to Australia

    • Just ignore, keep progressing to checkout.

  • Thanks OP, bought one.

  • Awesome Amp

  • timing is bad, do want amp ..cry me am

  • Unreal, you can't make this stuff up. I finally caved and ordered one of these from the UK via ebay 2 days ago after waiting for a deal for a while and now this shows up.

Mine will end up around $695 once I get the VAT refunded and cash rewards. so, not too bad I guess. I didn't think Amazon de shipped them here, I had a look there when I was looking for the best price and it said it didn't.

Probably would have rather bought from Amazon though because of better warranty. If mine dies I'm screwed :(

Just tried anyway to see and it won't let me get to checkout with my Australian shipping address.

Hmm it worked with my home address, but not my parcel locker. Damn!!!!!

  • How does this compare to the Onkyo TX-NR 676?

    • I got the 676 for $500 with Amex deal a month and a half ago. Amazing unit and amazing price at the time.

  • Bugger, just bought the AVR-X1400 for a grand!

    • Thanks. I feel a bit better about my $695 for the x2400h :)

If I don't need a warranty claim I'll be fine

What happens of this catches fire and burns your house down? Is the product certified for use in Australia? If not you may void your house contents insurance.

    • +1

are you from AU retail? or insurance company?

All you need to do is talk to Elvis at CIA and he’ll fix it

    • Gerry Harvey, is that you?

  • Says item does not ship to Auzzie land?

"please do your research on any avr from amazon.de
there is a con job going on as noted on stereonet forums. not for the denon but another amp.
need to read that thread first and make sure it is not applying to your avr choice.
    https://www.stereo.net.au/forums/topic/241750-fake-av-receiv…

    • +1

Did you even read the thread? It's about fake sites masquerading as amazon. Not about buying fake receivers from amazon.

As always don't follow click through links without verifying where they take you. The moral is always be vigilant about what site you are visiting. If the site is something like www.xxx.ozbargain.xxx then it's most likely legit, anything with dashes as per the thread is not a subdomain of that site and is completely separate. Also always check the site's security certificate details.

  • I picked this up mid last year via a previous deal for about $850 landed so this is a great deal. The amp itself is brilliant, has 8 HDMI I think. Has support for all modern video and audio formats. I also believe it will get Dolby Vision support in time. It flawlessly does 4K 60fps HDR for PC and 4K HDR for Ultra HD Blu Ray

    • It doesn't already do Dolby Vision? No big deal for me really, the only thing that I have that does DV is the internal Netflix player on my TV

      • I don't think so but I've got no way of testing because I'm still waiting for the DV update to come through for my Sony Z9D and Oppo 203

      • +2

It comes with Dolby Vision from the factory. No need for FW update. It's a great amp - I picked it up at Christmas for a bit more than what's in this deal.

  • This, or wait until the 3400h is back on sale?

  • Waiting for another marantz offer

  • i'm liking it but just wouldn't be able to afford it. Back to my caged egges

  • +1

Just bought one. Thanks. Amazon.de doesnt debit the credit card straight away?

    • Usually when it's shipped

  • I just bought one too.
My Yamaha died suddenly and I was off to pay the infamous Oz supplement +++ when I saw this thread!
If all goes to plan, I'll be about $650 in front (less a new plug).
Fingers crossed it will survive the long journey intact.

Thanks for the heads up :)

    • Mine arrived with package totally intact - not even a dented corner. Try that with a local courier.

      • What company delivers the Australia leg for these units?

        • Can't recall - it was shipped UPS.

  • The X3400H is now A$932.2 (EUR594.68) delivered.
    https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B0723FZGDH/ref=ox_sc_sfl

    • I just bought it. Paid $970 delivered from Amazon Germany. Maybe I missed out on a cash back or voucher but not that fussed. Still a decent deal even at $38 more

      • Did you pay in € or did you let Amazon convert it to AUD?

        • As it happens I paid in AUD. I normally pay in local currency but didn’t want to risk something super weird happening that pushed the price over 1k

        • @boffman: there's your answer, Amazon would give you worse exchange rate.

        • @chromium:
Out of curiosity I checked. My Amex charges 3% fee over interbank. I lost out on $5 by not going local currency. And no, I’m not about to get a 28 degrees card!

        • @boffman: Well the $932 AUD would have been based on a no foreign exchange fees card like that :)

  • Has anyone who ordered this actually had it ship yet?

I ordered mine on the 25th and it still hasn't shipped yet

    • They wanted bank statements from me. I sent them a gas and electricity bill. They’ve billed my card, but it’s still a pending transaction.

Order received feb 24. Eta from March 8. “Shipping is coming soon”

      • Did they ask for bank statements straight away ?
Or only after you queried why it was taking so long?

I haven't received any emails from them other than order confirmation and this a couple of days ago.
Still hasn't shipped yet and they still haven't billed my card.

        "Good day,

Amazon.de has a good message to your current order:

We are pleased to announce that the following goods can be sent earlier than previously announced:

        Previous estimated delivery date: March 23, 2018 - April 11, 2018
        New estimated delivery date: March 13, 2018 - March 17, 2018"

        • Hi puppetmaster. Don't panic, it's all legit Amazon. I ordered mine on the 26th Feb and it shipped yesterday, 2nd March. It's going by DHL, has tracking supplied and has just left Poland. I suspect the big freeze across the whole of Europe may have thrown a spanner in the dispatch and shipping logistics!

        • @stevethepom:

Mine has been shipped. It’s currently at Heathrow.

They asked for the statements a day or two after I placed the order.

      • What? It's a credit card transaction, why on earth would they need this?

        • I know right?

They wanted to cross match my credit card to my postal address. I didn’t like the idea of sending bank statements, but they accepted a power and gas bill.

Amazon UK does this unit for 349 pounds ($A620) plus delivery. Like the German site, delivery to Australia is debatable.

Amazon UK does not ship Denon receivers to Australia.

  • Got mine. Very happy. Good unit. Arrived earlier than predicted. Package intact.
