$1 for Online Access and Weekend Delivery of The Daily Telegraph (NSW) for 4 Weeks + Extras Including Big League Digital Sub

70

The Daily Telegraph is one of 2 main rags sold in NSW.

I read it almost solely for NRL related articles. I again bought this $1 for 4 weeks subscription as I am preparing for my NRL fantasy draft.
I got sick of trying to get around the "Subscriber only" prompts I kept receiving when accessing articles online.

For $1 you get unrestricted digital access + weekend delivery of Saturday/Sunday papers. That's 8 papers and 28 days of online access for $1.

I won't be continuing the subscription at the standard price of $7 per week once my promotionally priced subscription ends…..

I wouldn't say the newspaper is a source of independent journalism, but at least it's not as left leaning as The Sydney Morning Herald…

A nice bonus this year is the inclusion of subscriber rewards.

These include a free 12 month DIGITAL subscription to one of 12 magazines (subscription may end when you are not a Telegraph subscriber).
Your choice of:

delicious magazine
donna hay magazine
taste.com.au magazine
Super Food Ideas
Country Style
Inside Out
Vogue Australia
GQ Australia
Vogue Living
Big League

Being an NRL fan, Big League is the obvious choice.

There are also various free to enter subscriber only competitions and other giveaways, such as limited numbers of free seats to Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers soccer games.

  • How do you ensure that the subscription doesn't continue once the $1 deal ends?

      You have 2 choices:

      a) Pay with PayPal, and just turn off the automatic payment in PayPal (I recommend this)

      or

      b) Pay via credit card and call the newspaper to cancel at least 1 week before the 28 days end. Doing this you will have to put up with 20 minutes of the person on the phone trying to stop you cancelling.

    Very nice deal.

Pet peeve with DT website is you can sign up online but must cancel over the phone. That is fairly easy but obviously shonky.

      Not true.

      a) Pay with PayPal, and just turn off the automatic payment in PayPal (I recommend this)

When you do that, they stop sending the paper when their attempt to debit your PayPal fails. Don't need to speak to anyone.

  • Last time this was on, I never got the weekend news papers

  • Good deal. Worth $1 just to access the personal advertisements :-)

    • We could simply connect over PM now my dear…

Couldnt pay me to read that rubbish

    • That's pretty much my attitude, but the problem is a lot of folk do read this crap and to understand where they're coming from (or more precisely which nutjob they're seeking to emulate) you really do need to at least skim this crap.

      I might subscribe.
Not sure about the paper version though - might dump that on one of my 'friends'.

    Daily Tele is left leaning?

    What planet is this?

    • The Guardian, Jezebel and ABC are too right wing for me
