Humble Indie Bundle #2 - $Pay what you want

730

Pay what you want. If you bought these five games separately, it would cost around $85 but we're letting you set the price!

All of the games work great on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Some excellent titles in there including Braid, Osmos, Cortex Command and Machinarium.

Let's not be too greedy when setting our price, this is some awesome value and some of the money you donate goes toward charity as well.

Mod: Closed thread due to constant personal attacks. Please be respectful to other members.

  • I bought the first humble bundle for like $20
Games in this different??? I have not got around to playing them yet hahaha

might link them to my Steam account so they don't get lost in the growing pile of shame

    • +1

Yeah this is a new bundle, the games are different.

Braid and Machinarium are worth almost $20 each! This one was a no brainer for me

  • +4

This is the third time I've bought Machinarium u_u

    • Same here, though I bought them all at discounted prices.
Maybe after enough promotions, I might end up buying the full worth of the game. :)

  • +3

Such an awesome deal! Thanks for posting this.

  • +1

I thought they would have been steam downloads atleast?

    • No DRM + Steam = ???

Edit: Maybe you can try adding the key in Steam?

    • The previous Humble Bundle was recently added to Steam for free.. it's possible that this might happen with the Humbler Bundle too.

Braid is a wonderful game… I'm buying the Humble Bundle for my Mum, just so she can have a go!

  • +1

Woo I was waiting for another humble indie bundle :D

  • +2

I can highly recommend Braid. It's a work of art.

  • deleted

  • can you download this with steam ?

    • +9

      pretty selfish

      • Don't attack him/her please.

    • -1

was that 0.01 cent converted to 0.02 AUD? :p

  • +1

Wow, take a look at their total revenue so far:
    $319,730.87 and still counting

    • +12

Yeah some people paid like 300-1000 bucks. What's surprising is that a lot of Windows users call Linux users cheap because they use a free OS, but oddly enough the Linux users are paying twice more than Windows users. I can understand why Mac users are paying that less, probably as their life savings went into purchasing their Macs in the first place.

      • +7

Any windows user who calls Linux users cheap is an idiot.

Cheapness has nothing to do with it.

  • +17

Wow, that's really generous. I came into the thread feeling uplifted and happy by the gesture only to find myself disgusted by one1one, Kego and Bliind's selfishness. Human generosity and human filth right here. 1 cent? Downvote me all you want but that's really heartless and borderline disgusting.

    • +5

      It's true.
If you want to be selfish, then do it quietly and by yourself.
Other than that, it's a great bargain going to a good cause.

      • +1

Completely agree. If you think it's worth 1c then good for you, but don't go bragging about it. This is for charity and to encourage the developers to make more awesome games like Braid.

        • +8

I challenge both of you to take a deep breath and see it from both points of view. Bliind paid the smallest amount possible on an open invitation to set your own price - I wouldn't pay as little as Bliind paid but defend their right to pay it: their life; their decision, their conscience. Ragflan sees the deal as an opportunity to show some generosity and support and thinks we each should. Fair enough to both of you for having opinions. Fighting and name calling over differing levels of charitability is like dropping $5 in the salvo can then punching the next guy who doesn't. Remember: charity begins with the way we treat those different to us.

    • -2

Considering paypal charges $0.30+ in fees per transaction, I agree with you.

      • -7

I payed $0.01 and that got converted to $0.02 AUD, and there was no other fee included.

        • It's charged to them, not you. By giving them 1c, they're effectively down 29c.

        • -2

Ohh, okay. At least it's only 29c!

        • $0.29*number of people who paid $0.01 = a lot of money.

BTW I didn't factor into the cost the price of bandwidth used by you downloading the games either.

        • -1

I've only downloaded the 40mb file ass of now.

    • You assume I purchased the games for $0.01 or even at all. In reality I'm not interested in this 'bargain' no matter what the price is so I have neither given it a positive or negative vote. Bliind's comment regarding paying 1cent and the other user replying it was 2cents after conversion which highlighted their thrifty nature gave me a chuckle in morning and hence why I thought it was deserving of a positive vote.

Personally I don't condone nor criticise them for paying 1cent (or 2 cent AUD lol), I could care less. However your eagerness to attack others (and announce it publicly as per your own words) for not being as 'charitable' as you is disgusting. Please get off your high horse.

But then again who am I to voice my opinion, I am only 'human filth'.

      • Hear hear

  • +6

I can vouch for Machinarium, Braid, and Osmos.
    All brilliant and unique games.

  • +1

Great buy, bought in for $5 as im pretty broke and was not planning on buying any of the games. Its a great promotion though, and I got a lot of fun out of the last bundle.

    • +1

      Give me a break.
You know you have to download the games and then play them, right?

      • +2

I have played them, and they are really boring and a waste of time!

        • +4

i regret spending 2 cents on that

        • +1

          +1

    • You could have pressed the "All to Charity button" and then donated a little more than that. Just sayin'.

      • I actually donate to some charities already. Just sayin'

  • I paid $10 even though I already have Machinarium from a prior deal. Not even sure I will play the games much but I wanted to contribute to the concept behind it as it is the small swell that will hopefully transform the software market in the long term. Brick bats to the 1c cheap skates.

    • Is that a personal attack?

In case you haven't noticed, this site is a place where people are not looking to spend tons of money. How do you know i am not really poor, and that i live my life on rations found outside of my local Coles?
I suggest that you retract your comment immediately!

      • +1

well, then you shouldn't buy it at all!
If you were "that poor" as you say, you wouldn't even have a computer/internet to be here and download these fantastic games.

      • This site is for bargains, especially for your disposable income. There is no reason for you to purchase computer games if you're as destitute as you imply. You shouldn't be spending any money on luxuries at all if you want to pull the poverty card. If you can't afford to pay a reasonable amount for the pack, then just leave it be. Every person putting a 1 cent value is actually screwing them over.

I wonder at what point people just went from 'occasionally buying what i want' to 'cheap! mine!'

  • +4

Mod: Enough with attacking each other (my finger is getting tired). If you paid $.01 or $1000 dollars then that's your business but let's have constructive conversation without resorting to name calling.

    • -1

THANKYOU! All i ask for is a little respect, and hopefully a refund because the games are really crap.

      • the games are not crap. Go back to your Black Ops.

        • What is 'Black Ops'?

        • +5

apparently a new indie game? (maybe)

        • +5

The games are pretty crappy to be honest.

I own a couple of them on steam already and I hardly ever play them because they're not appealing or enjoyable.

The reason they have these "pay what you want" sales is because no one buys them to begin with. They make more money off smaller $$ sales because people will actually buy them if it costs 1$.

20$ game that no one buys = 0$
          01$ game that 20 people buy = 20$

The top "contributors" are actually advertisers anyway.

    • +2

That's right, mind your own business. It's "Pay what you want", which translate to "Freebies" in some people's dictionary.

  • I actually still haven't even played all the games in the last bundle, these games don't look as appealing to me but I bought it anyway, Hopefully I'll get time to check them out :D

  • +5

The filth part was my bad. But my point is don't announce the 1 cent thing. It's not something to show off or even say. Whatever you pay is your business. It's like the guy that bought 5 PS3s from the Toys R Us deal and sold them on eBay. He didn't have to announce it and make the rest of the people feel bad. Anyway, my bad on the personal attack.

  • -4

For all their harping about charity - when you actually click "all to charity" this huge image pops up asking for money. I love how hurt ragflan is by people paying what the bundle's worth.

    • +4

Actually that image showed by because you entered an amount lower than $1. It has nothing to do with selecting all to charity (the only reason it showed up then is because it doesn't show the image until you click somewhere.

    • +2

      owned

  • +5

    Payed $1.
They said pay what you want, and I did.
I haven't played them, so I dont know what they are like.

  • I haven’t played them either but will give them a go.

  • +3

I've just been playing Braid for the past hour and it's amazing. :)

I shall go back and purchase the bundle again so I can pay a larger amount this time round. Definitely worth it.

    • Yeah Braid is pretty awesome. I bought it on Xbox previously. It's one of the best arcade games. I think Shadow Complex is the best Xbox Arcade game thus far but Braid and Limbo are pretty close as well.

  • +1

I think the biggest donator thus far is Notch, the creater of Minecraft.

He paid $2000 for the Humble Bundle.

    Go Notch! you the man.
