Ordered for 225usd 3 days ago, but amazon is unwilling to refund the difference in price, so i am going to leave it at the parcelpoint for a full refund while reordering it. A good move for anyone else since amazon no longer has any price protection.
You must be real proud of yourself.
yer i get $25 back haha

They never did. You order at a particular price. Bad luck if it changes later.
Not really bad luck if I get my money back is it?
If people are curious this is a very very fast drive. With a fantastic warranty. There aren't many drives that come close especially at this price
Not really that much faster if you’re using it as a boot drive.
Compared to what? It thrashes an 850 EVO for boot.
Fantastic warranty? you'll need to send it back to Samsung USA at your expense. So no, not fantastic warranty.
Samsung SSD has no international warranty. If the unit that you will purchase is an Australian stock, we can assist with the warranty. However, if this is a non-Australian stock, we need to refer you to the retailer or local country of support for the warranty claim.
Ohhh sorry I've only had to deal with Samsung warranty for drives locally and it was fantastic.
warranty wise - are we then left to claim with amazon or can Samsung Aust do something about it>
Amazon
Need decent deal on 1TB 960.
I have this drive (paid more than $225 for it as well).
The difference between this, and the EVO 950 is night and day, even for small things like opening browsers, etcI seriously doubt that, and I own the 960 PRO myself. Any improvements are likely due to a reformat of your OS drive, a fresh OS install, or a removal of other sources of bloat.
Any benchmarks on any reputable website will confirm that there is nearly 0 different in day to day performance between a 950 Pro and a 960 EVO, unless your day to day invovles transferring files across servers each equipped with arrays of pcie m.2 drives (AKA an instance where queue depths can reach high levels, and files are large enough for sustained write speeds to reach their highest periods for an extended time)
I was shocked myself. I didn't even plan to upgrade but there was a deal here.
Didn't clean install. I run Linux mint and just bunged the old filesystem from my 950 into it.Edit: and load times in cemu, are measurably different.
This is an M keyed card.
There are four types of M.2 key/slot
A
B
E
MHow can you tell easily which one a device is - particularly M and B easy to confuse?
I dont see it in the description of the item on Amazon…
My understanding is most are B or M keyed (or both). If it says NVME it should be PCI-E based which is M key I think? B key is SATA in my eyes less desireable?
If it says NVME it may be a PCIe card OR it may be much slower SATA (and cheaper) interface operating over NVMe.
Both M and B can use PCIe OR SATA III drives.
B+M is only half the maximum speed of M alone

Given its critical which key it uses, I am suprised it's not more clearly shown in the item description.
https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015/02/understanding-m-2-th…
Looks like the cards have different widths/lengths. Also only the M is PCIe x4 … so if that is in the description, it's M. I havent seen samsung make anything other than M M.2 cards.
I would quite like the 960 PRO .. wonder if there'll be a deal with the upcoming 20% off on ebay. Yes, not huge of a difference with the EVO, but if one is squeasing out max performance from a high end build, this counts too..
You will saw 20% off, but the price jacked. So totally only 5% off
You can do a price offer on ebay. Buy wish gift card (save further 5%) to buy ebay gift card. Combine it with 10% off site wide offer. My 1tb 960 pro cost me under 500. And it is amazing fast.
Huh? So it's double-dipping on the 10% off?
mmcs, was that NVME? That's a really good price.
Yeah it is the 960 1tb pro m2 nvme.
Price has gone up to US$251.63
Getting very tempting!
