Used to be on eBay link, so can stack with 10%off code. Been to southland today. There are heaps in stock.

yep went out of stock on ebay a few days ago was there but wouldn't let you add to cart

  • QFLL’s need not apply.

  • I’ve decided I will never buy my newborn little girl any lego for the fear that she’ll like it and want more. It’s an absolute rip off and this deal at $49 is just what dealers call giving a taste, just to get you hooked.

Kids absolutely love them, they are very good to develop dexterity in little hands and don't forget to build something you develop logic too.

      • I would agree with that for the Classic sets, but sets like the one the OP have listed are just overpriced toys that you assemble yourself by following the instructions. What else can you do with this set except build the intended model?
$69 was vastly overpriced for what it is. I'm not even convinced that it's good value at $49 unless your child really wants the characters - in which case, $49 for three minifigures and some bricks of limited use?

Fairplay to the OP for posting though as it's probably the cheapest price it's been.

Yes I know all that but they are also a blatant ripoff

So you're going to actively deprive your child of a potentially stimulating, skills developing style of toy, because you "fear" that she'll like it and want more?

Weird logic. Sad too for your child.

If she does like it and wants more, perhaps think about how you can learn some new skills yourself, like being able to assert some rules like how many toys they can have over whatever time frame, etc. Simply avoiding any exposure they might have to things isn't teaching you or your kid anything.

You can also look into second hand toys (not just Lego).

          @blue-dinosaur:
I’m just saying $249 for a Star Wars ship or $417 for a robot is a rip off. I won’t deny her learning but I’ll also teach her to be a tightarse ozbargainer. I’ll go with something like kre o or roominate construction for girls. There’s a circuitry one for $52 or 180 pce set for $20

Target has a heap of Lego on clearance at the moment, generally about 30% off. Yesterday my son bought 70614 - a Ninjago kit - for $69 instead of the usual $99.

    • I've been keeping a pretty constant eye on Lego in stores lately and haven't noticed much of any note in any of the Targets I've visited. Same for Kmart and Big W - both of whom were pretty depleted in January despite not having great prices in their sales!
Target's prices before Christmas were also cheaper than in their so-called January sales, and cheaper than the current clearance prices for the items I've been tracking. My local Target has had three units of a Creator set that was discontinued a year ago and still asking full price for it - although they knocked 20% off it at one point in the pre-Christmas Build Up build up.
The best deals I've seen since Christmas have been at Woolworths and David Jones.

The OP's post is a pretty good price though - even if it isn't a great set. And I won't disagree with the deal you mentioned (we're satisfied with our Ninjago characters for now so I haven't been tracking that), but in general I'd say Target's Lego is currently the dearest it's been for the past six months.

For example: the Friends Summer pool is currently on special offer at $59 ("was $69"), but we bought that before Chrsitmas at $47!

      • I agree! Far cheaper prior to Christmas. Knee jerk reaction is that OP's pricing is much better than it actually is, but $120RRP is not paid by anyone, anywhere. $50 is not bad, but is probably only about $10 or so cheaper than what it normally sells for.

Plus vote given, but ignore the $120RRP bit.

Yes, my kids reckon Target is the dearest for Lego, and it was cheaper a few months ago. Believe me, they are all obsessed so definitely know what they are talking about!

        • @Boodek:
The short answer is the best price varies from set to set, retailer to retailer.
bricking around lego blog has a best price comparison post now and then from the big aussie retailers, they do all the hard work.
