Damn this is a crazy deal…
    Someone's probably lost there job

      Someone's probably lost there job

Over a BluRay on special? I highly doubt that.

      • +4

        See your point. Probs overreacted

    • +12

As the employee who stickered all the mad max and batman v superman movies at $2 at the castle towers store I can safely say that this was actually a legit EB sale price that is Australia wide for all stores with remaining stock

      • +1

        Ok cool

      • Why - vendor dump?

        • +1

They were bundled with XBOX One S for awhile, just clearing out old bundle stock.

      • Anybody know the list of movies that might be available for $2?

I called one local store and they didn't know if the have $2 clearance items. They could only look up specific movies that I name and see what price they have for the specified movie.

        • For anybody else interested, I learnt the 3 movies that were part of the original bundle, from which this clearance stock apparently comes from, are Mad Max: Fury Road, The Lego Movie, and Batman vs Superman.

      • +1

Thanks for this! Just letting people know around Adelaide. I called Reynella, Marion, Castle Plaza & Harbourtown. They have no stock left of anything. I got the last copy of BvS from these stores.

  • +24

Huh. Never seen an EB that even sells movies.

    • Neither!

    • +4

They were giving them away to promote the 4k uhd function of the xbox one s. Probably just stuck with stock.

  • nice one! Is it new?

    • +16

      Needs rewinding, first.

  • +1

This is a steal even if it stays in the closet collecting dust

    • +11

Even if you accidentally leave it on the train home it’s still a steal.

    • Even if you accidentally swalloed the disc and choked on it, it'd still a steal.

      • +1

Even if I swiped it on the way out. Absolute steal.

      • +3

Even if the disc uploads a computer virus known as ‘skynet’ onto the internet which later is responsible for nuclear armageddon its still a steal.

  • +5

    More than ten available?

    • Yes this is Australia wide

    • +5

It’s definitelt above average. Plenty of bad movies that year.

      • Definitely, I enjoyed this at the cinemas. Spewing I seen hell or high water, by far the worst movie I seen lately

        • +1

It's not a bad movie, it is quite good but when you consider the previous 2 movies and they did not use CGI for special effects which were still amazing, in this they went crazy with people flying around on poles on cars and other weird ridiculous things because they could do it in CGI….I disliked that immensely. It had some great moments like when the young man has his mouth sprayed with chrome by Immortan Joe, you understood what incredible hold he had over his followers. Still a another big negative to this movie, it wasn't filmed in Australia, it was filmed in Africa and not many Australian actors unlike all the previous films.

        • +2

          @freemoneyhunter:

Umm No… buy the discs and watch the production takes, the people flying around on poles on the cars are not CGI, not only that it wasn't done inside a studio with green screen it was real stunts on moving vehicles on the road. In fact lots of the vehicle stunts are not CGI.

This movie has a high ratio of real stunts to CGI. The CGI are things like the crazy nuclear tornadoes - but those were done well.

    • +2

    • i have seen movies at galaries store nsw (near town hall station)

  • +6

Chirnside Park's last copy has just been grabbed by me, thanks OP.

    • +2

No! Was. Thinking about heading down there soon. Well thanks for letting us know so I don't waste my time.

  • +3

These were given away with Xbox One S
    They cost EB $0
The promo ended… they tried selling them for $29
Stuck with heaps of stock… clear them out for $2
EB Still makes $2 Profit :P

    • Couldnt EB also claim a depreciation loss on tax?

      • +2

you can't claim a loss on something that didn't cost you anything

        • +3

Why not, Apple, Google and Microsoft do?

        • +9

@Scab: The top 500 businesses operating in Australia (by market cap) pay an average of 2% tax while the leaders that idiots elect continuously increase the tax burden on individuals and small business.

Half of Australia lives paycheck to paycheck with less than $1000 cash available. Despite this the Liberal Party is the party that the idiots voted in.

        • @Diji1:
It's hard for Liberals to change tax laws that they (themselves) and their sponsors abuse.

        • +3

Surely the Deputy Prime Minister of Australia living rent free indicates the system is working. We all live rent free thanks to our millionaire friends don't we?

        • -1

          @Diji1:
Ha ha ha and labor will fix it all yeah?

        • -1

          @Diji1: hahaha you communist.

        • +1

          @Punkboy:

… and labor will fix it all yeah?

Good ol’, “don’t look here, look there” diversion. Alternatively, “they’re all the same, ya know.”

    • +3

Yep. Deal was around July/August or so last year I think. Keep an eye out for the LEGO Movie and Batman Vs Superman too. All three films were available on the promotion.

      • +7

Can confirm that Lego Movie and Batman vs Superman are also $2

    • True. Maybe they had 1 copy for every xbox one s. There would have been some people that bought xbox one s, but refused the free mad max disc (either cos they dont like the film, or cos of its rating and the xbox being purchased for kids)

  • +1

Lego Movie and Batman Vs Superman also the same price.

    • +2

Holy crap Batman Vs Superman was terrible.

      • +2

        Take it to IMDB.

        • +2

They got rid of the forums so you can't :(

    • Online? link?

      • +2

Instore at EB Games. Will post receipt shortly.

  • i watched a bit of it but got bored.

  • I would pay $5 for Road Warrior or Beyond Thunderdome in 4k. They are in my top 10 favourite movies of all time. MM4 not so good.

    • -3

I got 15 negs for that sentimate. Lol

      • +1

You said a movie that cost $150,000,000 to make isn't worth spending $2 to watch, which is a ridiculous claim to say the least.

        • I said I didn't feel it was worth that because it wasn't what I expected to get. I stand by that, if I put bounty wrappers on poo it doesn't make them worth the price of a bounty bar…

        • +1

There are surely movies that cost as much that still suck

        • -1

If you hate the film, its value to you, would ne negative $2 .

      • Wish I could uncensor your comment, it's gone down the memory hole…

    • Id pay $5 for Road Warrior or the original that started it all. I agree that MM4 was not so good. When a movie becomes so self-consciously mythic that it becomes awkward and ham-fisted, thats when it kind of sucks.

      • I didn't think much of the first movie, only liked 2 & 3. I preferred 2 for the action but 3 had amazing music and a much more in depth characters and story which overall I think 3 was better. It has Tina Turner who was probably the greatest female pop singer at the time and she made the song for the movie which topped the charts at 2nd in the USA and 1st in Australia and many other European countries. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dq4aOaDXIfY

MM4 doesn't compare anywhere near the 2 previous movies.

        • I agree with you that MM3 was definitely better than MM4, however I consider that MM3 marked the point when the series started to disappear up its own arse.

        • @cannedhams: MM1 was ok for Australia, all Australian cast but wasn't really good for exporting, MM2 & MM3 was and MM4 wasn't even Australian anymore, filmed in Africa cause it was the cheapest place + CGI. MM2 & MM3 are Australia's best movies, they don't compare to any others like Metal Skins, Muriel's Wedding etc. MM3 marked the high point of Australian film making, and then it went up it's owm arse.

        • @freemoneyhunter: I liked MM1. Sure it was made to budget, but it was good, primal, simple (and dare I say elegant) Aussie cinema. It was also very well edited, its a film with very little flab on it.

The thing I appreciated in particular was that its version of a dystopian society wasnt all that far removed from the present. Just a bit sketchier, with the police a bit more stretched.

Didnt really care for the Peter Pan-esque fantasy elements in MM3, I thought they were ham fisted. This is Mad Max dammit. Leave the kids with Tina and just get back in your damn car and drive.

    • +2

Beyond Thunderdome is in your top ten movies but Mad Max 1 doesn’t get a mention? Thunderdome was a farce of a movie, it was essentially mad max meets the sound of music with the likes of Angry Anderson coked off his cruit attempting to act. As for the fourth one it was ok but having a chase scene go for so long became a bore. It didn’t help that the movie wasn’t full of classic quotable lines like the first one.

      • MM1 was a slow movie, sure it had good characters in it like Toe cutter and I thought Nightrider was cool at the start but there wasn't many special things about it. It is common consensus and it is noted everywhere (with MM2) a sequel to a movie is rarely better than the first but MM2 blew it out of the water, it started a genre of copycat movies throughout the 80's none never coming close to matching it, in the US it was released as Road Warrior rather than MM2 because nobody in America knew what madmax was then.

MM3 had amazing characters, such as Master Blaster, his quotes are still circulating around the internet today such as "Who run bartertown?". Yes Wez and Humongous were great in MM2, but I still stand by MM3 being a better movie than MM2, you just need to watch it again. As for MM1, I would rather watch MM4 than MM1 again sorry, and I am sorry to say that too, wish it wasn't true. MM2 made a big impact, MM3 didn't because it came after MM2 and I think people can't remove themselves from that thinking MM2 being better than MM3 because of the impact it made.

        • +2

Mm1 was not a slow movie it was an action movie with developed characters given time to let loose on the plethora of notable quotes that are littered throughout. “Who run bartertown” does not qualify as a notable quote. Who wants to watch Mad Max develop into a children’s musical? I watched it on free to air the other night and all it did was reaffirm how laughable the whole thing was. It’s a time in history when Max lost his way.
I liken your thoughts on 1 and 2 to AC/DC where most of America don’t even know who Bon Scot is and have only grown up on Brian Johnson. They don’t know what they’re missing out on. I am a rocker I am a roller I’m an out of controller. Step right up chum and let the kid lay down a rubber road right to freeeedom.

        • +1

To quote Bubba Zanetti “You just don’t have the style do ya chickenshit”

        • -1

@bennybaubles: I respect your opinion and your defence of MM1, but holy crap if you think MM1 is better than MM2, you have not made yourself clear on that, but no way is MM1 better than MM2, it just boggles the mind, I know you think MM1 is better than MM3, I understand that, I didn't like MM3 when I first watched it as an adult (I saw it as a child and thought it was great) but I liked MM2 so much that I watched MM3 another time and it grew on me and I've seen them both over my life maybe 1/2 a dozen times and I think MM3 is better.

Quotes aside, do you think MM1 is better than MM2?, if you think so that is messed up.

        • @freemoneyhunter:
I’d class 1 and 2 as a package with 2 following on from 1 where life has fully degenerated into the wastelands I like both but I guess I identify more with one because I saw it first when I was young. I also love it because I’m from Melbourne and I’ve been to a lot of the filming locations which adds to my love for it. I guess I’m a defender of 1 and I won’t let anyone say a negative word against it. The script is the best of the lot and it is definitely not a slow movie in terms of action. When there isn’t action you have quotes au go go going on left right and centre.
          .
I haven’t had a debate about the merits of Max sequels before online. Please don’t mistake my heated tone as anything other than a love for the first two movies. As for 3 don’t start me on that again or I will get worked up!

        • +1

@bennybaubles: No worries :) I completely understand and respect everything you have said.

        • @freemoneyhunter:
Anything I say What a wonderful philosophy you have. Take him away. 😀

        • One last word on the matter, what got me fired up is when you said “but I still stand by MM3 being a better movie than MM2, you just need to watch it again.”. This is incorrect. Mm3 is the ugly duckling amongst it’s other siblings. The only redeeming feature was having Frank Thring in it. He is a genuine actor ( Pontius Pilot in Ben Hur, also 2 eps of Skippy :-) It’ usually doesn’t end well when you use musicians as actors eg Tina and Angry. You invariably end up with scripts tailored so they only have to say one line at a time per shot. A form of babysitting acting.

        • @bennybaubles: I thought Tina was great she acted well and she did a fantastic song for the movie which was a #1 hit around the world and the music video 50% contained scenes of MM3, I thought she was awesome, as a kid I was bombarded with that video in the 80's on TV and all I wanted to do was see that movie again. Ironbar I think he did ok too, I have no complaints about him. Are you going complain about Blackfinger who was the host of Playschool for two decades? He did a great job in the movie, I think all the kids did as well.

MM3 is awesome, that is what I told toe cutter when I look up at the night sky. I think it is the best in the series, I mean Max showed his real side in that movie, he took the little man because he knew all those children could use his knowledge, he did everything he could for them, even sacrificing himself for them so they could have a future. In #1 he was just busting creeps and decided to piss off from the police force and the creeps caught up with him. In number 2 he didn't give a crap about anyone, maybe a bit about the feral kid at the end. MM3 is the best of them in my opinion, but that is my opinion, you have another opinion and I understand your reasoning too.

        • +2

          @bennybaubles:

How can any sane person think that Mad Max 2&3 are even close to MM1 is beyond thinking.

MM4 is an incredible movie and a return to to 'road movie' format of MM1.

        • -1

@Wallyt99: Can I buy some of that crack off you?

        • -1

@freemoneyhunter: cars in a movie does not a road movie make.

        • @freemoneyhunter: See here… MM3 at least not listed https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road_movie

        • @Wallyt99: Wally I agree with in regards to mm1. For moneyhunter to disregard mm1 showed him (sorry moneyhunter)to be a philistine. Any purist knows that 1 is the winner. It’s on the top shelf. To say 3 is in the top 10 movies of all time, well, well, well. The Scag don’t rate. Mm1 is my favourite movie of all time and is up there with pulp fiction, trainspotting, human traffic and Withnail and I. All highly quote worthy, well written movies. As for 4 it was pretty good but when you compare budgets
I and storyline mm1 shines through.

        • -1

@freemoneyhunter: btw no one really gives a stuff about max. He’s the dud character in every movie.he rarely has anything quoteworthy to say. It’s the other characters that make the movies shine.

        • @bennybaubles: I've finished talking with you, I'm not responding to any of your comments anymore.
