  • Doesn't include the $210ish import charges

    • Ebay does include import charge which is included in total price in the title of this post but not sure if there are more import charges

        My apologies

I feel that for such top of the range cpu only having 8gb of ram is going to hinder the whole laptop performance…..they really should give it 16gb of ram.

I feel that for such top of the range cpu only having 8gb of ram is going to hinder the whole laptop performance

In what way would it hinder it's performance? 8GB RAM is plenty for most people.

      • -3

Well an i5 a few gen back is plenty for most people too.

People looking to buy an 8th gen i7 is not most people don't you think?

Do you buy a twin turbo v8 only to use E10 as well?

        • +1

I thought we were discussing the amount of RAM suitable for most, not the CPU.

Just because it is the newest Gen i7, it doesn't mean it requires double the amount of RAM.

        • @Lorindor: i think most people who want an i7 would want more ram like me.

        • @ubcool:

          Exactly.

        • if I've got an i7 - i definitely want 16GB ram in it. The CPU is so hungry for throughput that having 8GB ram doesn't do it justice - i want multiple apps to be open ant the same time so i definitely need 16GB ram….. plus Windows 10 absolutely thrives on 16GB ram. I've seen the difference on a laptop. It is noticeable .

          @aussieaubs:

Too bad the noobs are negging because they don't know better.

Having a top of the range i7 and stuck with 8gb is such a PITA.

        • @mg_k: I negged you, lol read this http://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Intel-Core-i7-8550U-vs-Intel-Core-i5-8250U/m320742vsm338266;https://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-8550U-SoC-Benchmarks-and-Specs.242108.0.html

        • @mg_k: I agree. I7 is best with 16gb ram. I actually would get 32gb if there is one that is affordable.

        • @boohooimissout: there is minimal difference between i5 and i7 I don’t understand why people think i7 is premium than i5 and needs 16g of ram, if you need 16,you need 16, not because it’s i7

        • @XanderYuan: fair point.
personally for me, it's because I need the best performance possible at reason, to remove any doubts that any performance issue in my computer is not because I didn't buy enough processor or ram.

  • Comes to AU$1402.35 delivered for me.

    • Did you use coupon code?

Seeing as it's refurb already, and US model, will Dell Australia cover this warranty? Anyone have experience?

    Thanks!

    • +1

It says in the listing that they will link you the warranty transfer after purchase. As far as I know Dell ownership can be transferred across countries.

    • +1

No, the XPS line isn't covered by International warranty. Sure they will transfer the warranty to a new US buyer but Dell Australia won't cover an XPS purchased in the US. Definitely not for a system purchased with the standard 1 year mail-in service as per info below taken from the listing:

"This comes with Dell's 1 Year Standard Mail in service which expires in December of 2018"

Their latitude (business class) systems are covered by a 3 year Dell Pro support NBD warranty, which can normally be transferred Internationally (providing Dell actually sell & service the specific model in your new country), once you go through the warranty transfer process section of their site.

  • Should import charge be paid to custom or directly to eBay?

    • To ebay.

      Import charges:
US $173.89 (amount confirmed at checkout)

  • Not a bad price, but u might be able to find an 8th i7 XPS 13 9360 for 1300, if u keep your eyes open and be patient. Got mine for $1309 2 weeks ago.

    • Is that local stock? That's an awesome price.

    • +1

      Doesn't the description say :

"Intel Core 8th Generation i7-8550U Processor"

So isn't THIS one an 8th gen I7?

But yes, if you're price was for local stock - and a new one - then that would be a fabulous price.

      • Sorry I meant local stock. Keep eyes out at Dell Outlet.
