Ozbargain's favourite family tent, $50 off the $599 regular price with coupon code. Great price without Afterpay required.

Price has increased from $599 to $699 at Anaconda recently; not sure if this is the start of a trend.

    • +2

Finally, the 9th person puzzle from yesterday can be solved

    • Needs to be way cheaper

      • Really? I thought this tent was supposed to be the best thing outside of a hotel?

        • +1

It's a good tent, better quality than the $150/$130 one currently at BCF, but still not much different compared to its normal sales price

          • @Charity: what is the quality difference

            • +1

@RichardF89: The "darkroom" feature is a huge quality of life feature. Equivalent to block-out blinds. Worth paying more just for this feature. Still not $550 worth though, just IMO.

            • +1

@RichardF89: The material is also a lot thicker than the extremely thin and fragile material in the cheaper tents. This means it will last a LOT longer. Especially the floor. The blackout is a nice bonus. Only negative that the thicker materials means this tent is really heavy.

      • Past deals with Coleman products suggest the only time they become "way cheaper" is when they're discontinued.

    • Wish I needed this.. 😅

I think this is e-waste at this point.

      • +1

Nah. I use a similar PC for day to day and it's fine with an SSD and a bit more RAM

      • +1

        WRONG!

      • +1

Reselling used electronics = e-waste? Gotcha.

    • +3

Can't talk about the seller as I've never bought from them but these machines still go alright. Don't let people poo poo'ing these put you off

Might need more storage if you want to run a NAS (unraid/truenas/freenas)

Might need more RAM (and probably storage) if you want to run some VMs (Proxmox/ESXi)

    • Can I connect this to WiFi network?

      • +1

you will need an USB or PCIe WIFI card

      • +1

Will require a USB wifi adaptor. They’re quite cheap on eBay or Amazon or your local computer shop.

Backup power supply for me, rather than camping. This review says it will run a StarLink for 10 hours, which is exactly what I'm looking for.

I actually purchased through Amazon for $399 with a coupon at checkout but that seller has too little feedback to meet OzBargain guidelines. Hopefully I won't regret it.

A quick Google search shows some ridiculous prices on this. I was hoping to get away with spending $600 to meet this need, so I'll be very happy if this $400 does the trick.

Note: I've tested the link. It's NOT a monitor arm this time.

Do you need to declare this to take on a plane?

      • +2

100Wh to 160Wh needs approval so this needs 4 approvals, no?
Or you can cut this in 4 and bring one per plane/s

        • +1

          so this needs 4 approvals

So OK if travelling with a family of 4?

          • @jv: Yes, but in that case each family member will need to have stat deck signed that they're carrying 1/4 of a essentially, litium bomb. Even the 6 month old if you only have a family of 4.

            • @WasBargain:

              have stat deck

What if you're form NZ ?

    • I noticed Allpowers have AU stock on their AliExpress listings and this one was about US$300 in the last sale, so A$406.69 is a very good price.

I'm tempted to pick one up now.

I'm tempted to pick one up now.

Can it be used to charge your e-scooter?

        • +2

The Kugoo 1.6 times, Xiaomi 1.2 times and my private farm scooter will get nearly 40% charge out of this.

          • +1

@Clear: I also ride on my "farms private access road"

            • +3

@foxxo: And on the odd occasion my tyre slips onto the public road my motor power prevents me from going faster than 25km/h.

    • V2L EV's make this sort of thing less necessary. These bluettis and similar power stations might be short lived.

      • +1

So you'd need to blow say $60k, sometime in 2026 to make this thing obsolete?

        • +1

Well, my V2L EV can power a fridge for weeks. Not that I'm expecting this sort of power outage to occur, but its just a lot more usable.

          • +1

@ATangk: So driving a fridge around makes you cool?

            • +3

@vuduguru: If I can offer to crack a cold one anywhere, I think that would categorise me as 'cool'

        • BYD Dolphin has V2L and it's around $40k D/A.

          • -2

@Bigboomboom: Is ChinaUnsensored lieing when they say all the bee-yar-dee cars are catching fire in China? 😅

      • Bluetti has a 5 year warranty and rated for 1000 cycles IIRC. You must defined "short lived" differently.

        • I think he meant short lived in terms of the need in the market. That is V2L EVs will replace them in the market.

      • While there is some overlap, there are many other use cases. Particularly if the EV isn't at home, or you don't own a car.

Can you charge up your EV from solar panels when you are away camping?
Most of these power stations are designed to do that, and do so with MPPT.

I am sure there are devices to charge an EV on solar panels while camping, but I bet they aren't cheap. Without a power transfer switch, a suitable inverter and a bidirectional charger, I am not sure that you could charge your EV at home from rooftop solar when the grid is down.

        • A solar panel wont charge very much, but the new Prius comes with a solar panel roof which indeed does charge the battery.

          • @ATangk: I didn't say "a solar panel". I said "solar panels". Some researchers drove a Tesla all around Australia and only charged it with the solar panels they carried in the boot. Now I will admit these were special thin film solar panels that rolled up, but it wouldn't be hard to carry 3kW of "normal" thin camping panels. If you are camping for several days you could put a significant charge in the vehicle.

            • @whats up skip: 3kW (peak) would get you 20km range in an hour. Its not exactly a lot, either.

      • Pretty much. I was keen on one of these a while back in case of power outages, but have since bought an EV with V2L so no longer interested in something like this.

    • I bought one last year and used it on my Tassie trip. For the price, it exceeded my expectations. Ran my portable Kings fridge for 18 hours. Highly recommend.

    • I wonder what brand battery they use?

    • Wait, this is 164000mah so 164ah right? A respectable 120ah lithium battery alone without other bits is already way more than $400. I paid more than $1k for a Kickass 120ah lithium setup and could have bought almost 3 of these!

    • Lithium ion battery, will pull the trigger if it using Lithium Iron

      https://m.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=Qzt9RZ0FQyM&em…

      • Good news - Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries ARE lithium ion!

I suspect you meant you would rather LFP over one of the nickel-based chemistries. Yeah technically they are safer, but its still way safer than a petrol generator.

      • +1

It appears to be Lithium-ion 18650's, 21700's, or the likes, not LiFePO4, which is why it has such a low cycle life..

    • silly question but would this run camera lights?? ie 200d Amaran etc etc

Saw this online, perhaps the best price there is out there.

Its brand new as per the website, I am not familiar with the seller so would be great if anyone can confirm their authentication but they have good reviews online.

With drying module ($149), total will be around $2,100.

    • Only 3 available and not @1,985 should be $1,985 and store in title.

      • Thank you, just did.

        Also, their warranty states

1 Year return to base parts and labour warranty provided by AOS International PTY LTD.

        Doesn't look like its manufacturer?

    • Thanks OP

    • Have bought from them before, and it was a real task getting a tax invoice for my order from them. I heard all kinds of excuses like "we are not GST registered" and "this invoice will work for warranty purposes" before I finally got one. I would tread carefully while buying from them, and double check everything.

Don't buy these off Kogan with their lousy support. Especially with the SD card issue that's cropping up lately.

Good evening everyone. HQ has released a new statement regarding their work on the Ally’s SD card reader:

We want to thank the community for the passionate response we’ve received for the ROG Ally. Your support has been both immense and invaluable, so we’ve been hard at work to improve a number of things. After confirmation from internal testing, under certain thermal stress conditions the SD card reader may malfunction.

To alleviate the issue, we will be releasing an update that further fine-tunes the default and minimum fan speeds on the device to improve reliability while keeping fan noise in check, as we know this is a concern for many of you.

If you are currently experiencing issues with your SD card reader, please contact [email protected] (US) or contact customer service for your region to RMA your unit, which we will inspect for any issues and repair
