Any good deal for Pixel 2?

    • +8

wrong thread this is about S8+

  • +4

Obligatory post about S9 being launched soon despite the fact it won't be selling for a price close to this

    • +1

True, I've read the price for the S9 might be jacked up therefor the S8's might hold their value for longer than usual

      • +1

Yeah have heard $1349 as S9 price and $1499 as S9 plus price. Don't get me wrong - I will be getting one for sure but at $700 less for this S8 plus and given the S9 is supposedly going to have fairly incremental improvements, definitely makes you wonder if it's worth it

        • This deal is so tempting. But, S9's rumoured 720p960fps, 1080p480fps are quite tempting.

        • what in the world?!!

        • @netsurfer:

Tempting? Your eyeballs can't tell the difference, but hey, something to brag about what you blew your money on, smart.

        • @drazenm: Brag about? Huh? S9 is coming out. You think $811 is a lot of money these days? I pay so much more every year to the government for a bunch of clowns to waste money and do nothing.

Or, you were referring to the 960fps slow mo? Anyway, this deal was days ago. Let's move on to new deals.

      • Samsung's an ebay seller?

  • this price is absolute the best buy of smart phone

  • Is the Austalian S7 still stuck on the 1 October 2017 security patch level?

    • -1

What's that have to do with the S8 plus?

      • +1

Gives some idea what sort of long-term support to expect for the S8, for those who have an interest in security…

The S7 is listed as one of Samsung's current monthly security updates models, but as of a few weeks ago, the Australian one hadn't received security patches since the 1 October update.

    • yes it is, its ridiculous how long it takes them

  • Tempting … Anyone know what the "cashback" is on this item?

  • +1

Why has this phone gone down more than $500 in less than a year… not happy Samsung.

    • +5

Probably because people like me (using an SG5) are patient and holding out for best possible price.

      • +1

My SG5 is still pretty good. Not sure if it's worth upgrading for little benefit

        • +1

          definitely worth it imo!

        • Yes, my SG5 is fine also. Hard to justify buying a new phone when I don't even use half the features. Too many apps and photos so am pushing the memory (not using a memory card).

    • +3

Not sure why, all phones drop in price by a lot, except for iphones though. iphones hold its value the best! I am android user, hate ios . !

Never buy an android phone on the day it's released, bcs within a month or so you probably could get it by few hundred $ cheaper (based on experience). recent notably experience was the $978 Note 8 new from harvey norman nov 2017. it dropped from $1300 or so only after 2 months!?

So wouldnt be surprise if s8 dropped by $500 in < 1 year.

      • +1

iPhone 7/7Plus second hand for $485/$529 on feeBay. Not retaining value well. The figures look higher than Android second hand equivalents, but bear in mind you do have to pay more for iPhones initially. Trust me, I know. I bought a lot of Apple devices. I could trick my brain and pretend % wise, the drop is less than Android, but when it comes to actual $$$ figures, that's not the case. Worse if you bought the wrong Apple gen items. For example, iPad 3.

        • yea Agree if you are buying it brand new and selling it at second, the amount $ lost are comparable.

I was actually talking about New prices (Aus stock, not grey) only.
Not being specific and if i remember correctly the latest iPhones, say iphone 8 plus, new was ~$1230 lowest price I have seen $1140 (from one of the ebay AUS store) ~10% drop, but in the note 8 case it dropped from $1287 to $978 (HN) ~25%.

but then again, i used to buy a lot of 2nd hand iphones/ipads in gumtree and it was easier to sell at the same price or higher, it seems the demand is a lot higher, thus i believe it holds better value.
Having said that, recent samsung phones havent been too bad, it sells easily too.

  • +1

Sold out… Kinda good for me, really tempted to buy it.

  • +2

Waiting for S9 (as S8 prices will drop)

  • +2

Are you kidding? 8 phones were sold and inventory ran out.

    • It's available again. Got one for myself!

  • although I am on checkout, I could not apply discount code. Why??

  • So this is in stock again !

  • Thank you just got one.
