It's worth waiting a bit more, s9 is meant to be announced in the next month and should drive prices down.

      • Not next month, this month ☺️

        • +8

In the next month generally means within four weeks as opposed to saying announced next month which would mean the next calender month.

Got any other hot deals TA?

Yes, use code HOTARSE for free gloves.

  • +1

    Good deal for the S8/S8+
There are reports the S9 will be very similar spec to these phones but I'd still wait a few weeks to see what is being offered

    • +1

break throughs in smart phones seem to be a rare occurance, it’s more incremental eg better camera, more ram etc and the latest version of android.
and the s8 should get another android update based on its life cycle.
even when s9 is realeased, how long till it’s price drops ?
s8 price drops …. they still have s7 coming off production lines they can do major price drops on.

      • I havr a s8+ and dont think you could improve the camera.
        Its amazing.
Even my friend apple.fanbois have all admitted the camera is better

        • +1

my apple fanbois admitted Samsung camera has been better for a long time..

        • +2

          Try a Pixel 2 and you'll be blown away….. :-)

        • Have you tried using the ported version of Google Cam? It much better than Samsung stock camera app. Using it on my note 8

        • Why do people who like Apple have to be fanbois.. are people who like Samsung, Samsung fanbois?

        • @ChickenAdobo:
What's the app name? Interested to check this out, want to make sure I'm getting the right thing.

        • @Jetship: Yes :)

      • S6 wasn't that great, S7 was fantastic, S8 is a copy of S7 but with some annoying "features", S9 will just be another copy of S8 with more "features".

        • S8 was total redesign and size.

        • @wxyz234: Not really. Even changing the outside isn't much these days.

        • @StoneSin:

I think you are really understating the difference maker of Samsung infinity display

        • @ChickenAdobo: I don't consider moving towards software buttons as a significant and "bettering" change.

        • @StoneSin:

There is more screen estate to display. I know because I had a s7 edge before using my current note 8 phone

        • @ChickenAdobo: Yes. But it's used the same way in 80% of usage.

I consider the software buttons as a downgrade, not an upgrade.

      • S8 is a bigger update over S7 than S9 is over S8. The form factor and aspect ratio changed, edges became standard, and near bezelless display became a thing.

S9 is just S8 with dual cameras, a better spot for a finger print scanner, and updated SoC.

  • I went to the samsung store and the rep claims there will be no s9+ just a s9.

    • +9

We're having to constantly bring sales rep in line for not keeping up with release documents and spouting nonsense to customers. Wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them, especially with regards to unannounced products.

  • +2

Thanks TA. Finally pulled the trigger on some AirPods.

    • Aaaaaaaand they're gone. Looks like a bit of Brodening going on.

  • I'm not sure if this import version iPhone has Australian Warranty? Anyone knows?

    • The listing for the 64GB states that it doesn’t come with international warranty. I think this means no official apple Warranty. The company who is listing it states they provide 12 months warranty.

      • Thanks very much, mate.

      • +1

That's a pretty big deal. The local warranty is 24 months, but for high-end phones, Apple will usually cover it for three years if you insist on your statutory warranty rights.

I'd be pretty wary of grey import stock on a high-end product like that.

      • How could it not come with Apple's international 1yr warranty? Is this an interplanetary model?

  • +4

Airpods's gone already. Thanks to TA he is even quicker than ebay marketing team, that's one reason to make ozbargain a great bargain page.

  • Note 8 seen here for $885 on the 20% of deal, waiting for same or lower

  • Galaxy 8+ is au or grey import?

    • +3

The Airpods, S8 & S8+ are all local Australian stock via Wireless1 & SydneyTec.

  • O/S & > $1000 = GST?

    • I believe the price SS provides is inclusive of any other fees which are payable on entry, never heard of customers having to pay GST for their items over $1k.

    • Oh. I'm assuming this is GST Free in the first instance?

      • he means import tax. The bill that customs sends you.

    • I just asked shopping square, they said that the buyer is liable for paying import tax

  • s9 in a few weeks

  • I'm assuming invoice will be provided with item?

  • Tempted on the S8. Not sure my S6 battery will last till the S10.

    • With that logic why not go for a S9 in 6-12 months?

      • +1

Yeah im under the impression that hopefully the s10 will be a lot more revolutionary than the s9 that is basically just an s8.

        • Sure, get that. But sounds like your battery is still good now and for another 6-12 months, so a cheaper S8 or similar S9 would be similar then.

    • +1

Or just replace your battery for 1/10th of the price of a new phone. There isn't a the same gap between an s8 and an s6, as there was between the s6 and the S4.

  • Damn! wanted to buy AirPods for Wifey for Valentines

      • Darn. missed out on the Airpods 2nd time round. Gone in a flash :(

      • Missed it again

        • missed it :(

        • Missed out again, i wondered if they would add more…

  • “1 Year Warranty in Australia' —so we can take it to au apple store?
Actually not care about us or china apple store, as long as au apple store cover the warranty is ok.

    • +1

Yes have bought iPhone from os and taken it to apple within 1 year no problem.

I'm always surprised how much iPhones cost, even on special. There's no way that's value for money….

    • +1

It is if its of value to you. Some people don't like Android :)

      • You can like something and not consider it of good value (super cars or posh german badges are an example). "I don't have any other choice" does not make it good value for money.

Conversely, you can also dislike something but acknowledge that it is good value.

  • Any deals on Apple TV 4K 32GB? Have been looking for ages and nothing too special. Don't want a grey import either…

    • I asked first.

    • My advice, if you've been looking for ages, wait for any deal that's cheaper than retail and take it. Is a few bucks down the track worth the months of waiting?

  • +3

I am waiting for an Iphone SE-X edition.

    • WTF is that?

      • Iphone SEX or Iphones EX

      • New iPhone SE this year.

  • Op great find, you clearly know the market. And the palate continues to crave. AI grows, 'skynet' gets stronger. Once upon a time there was a corner store.

  • what's O/S?

    • operating system?

      • Old School.

    • Out of Stock :)

    • +5

      Overseas Stock

  • Damn missed out on Airpods again

  • +1

I doubt you will see the S8 and S8+ much cheaper than this by waiting for a closer date to the S9 release.

This is as good as it gets. The S7 at JB still retails for $750

    • exactly my thoughts, I got an s8 today. I guess with officeworks price matching you might get around $600ish but still happy with $710.

    • JB is not the best benchmark for pricing.

    • S7 was around $500 recently in Ebay sales… Just goes to show how inflated JB prices are. S8 will definitely come down on s9 release

  • +1

Nothing wrong with my current Nexus 5X but decided to grab a S8 at that price. Cheers OP. Great shout.

  • how come this doesnt attract 10% gst? post office will not know if this was sold under ebay.com.au.
