  • FHD sounds better to me than 2K.
Not sure if this that great a price: the refurb Lenovo Miix 700 was $479.20 with the same specs. I know its refurbished but this is $710 more!
Plus I used eBay gift cards so the savings even greater..

    • This has 4g

      • If you have a 4g mobile, it’d be less useful.

        • The other also ships with an LTE slot.

    • Not the same specs mate. This poops all over that model if you are into CAD, Graphic Design and GIS and you know 4G. Makes a good business case for certain professions but not for a light casual user. I agree though, that one is better value for money but depends what you are using it for.

      • I'd be careful with a Y processor. Depending on how they've configured it, it can be severely limited by Thermal or Voltage throttling. I had the XPS13-2-in-1 with a 4.5W processor limit. Plug 2 external monitors (2560x1440) and it was constantly throttling and the CPU was dropping to 400mhz (celeron 1 power).

Using a single monitor, it didn't throttle as badly, but it was still slower than an i5 Surface Pro 1 / 2 / 3 (similar i5-U processors).

        ymmv.

      • Yeah I guess I'm not really using it as a drawing tablet or anything like that, but still don't see how the specs are not similar..

      • You're doing CAD on a tablet? Sounds like a workflow disaster to me

This has a dual-core CPU, it's not suitable for those use cases at all…

  • What would be a better buy i5 surface book or this?

    • This system is 2 years old. Hopefully that answers your question? :P

The only thing holding the Surface back is that you can't add more RAM after purchase.

Save your money and wait for the Windows on Snapdragon tablets, which will outpoint this device with double the battery life.

First devices should be here in the next 4 weeks and starting at lower prices than this, which is probably why someone is trying to clear this ancient stock.

ITech really has ancient stock when you see some of their email specials.

  • I think this might be an old model they're running out.

My distributor only has 1 left in Sydney marked down to a price that can match that.

I'm guessing it will be gone soon as it is indeed a good saving over the original price though.
