Not sure how this AFL experiment will pan out but I got an email regarding cheap tickets and kids tickets for free. Not clear what the usual price is. Limit of 8 tickets. Cheap night out?

Yes Sherlock
They should have made it free, like when they introduced the Women's footy…
Also, why are they now competing with the Women's footy? It doesn't make sense.
There is a lot about the AFL that doesn't make sense to me:
- Refusing to entertain equal pay / conditions for female players
- Promoting the game into overseas and non-AFL state locations at the expense of Tasmania
- The corporatism of the game, from kids' first experiences to any other aspect that they think they can make some money from
- The year-round media 'coverage', obviously just to ensure that other sports don't get a free run
- And now a variation on the game (to compete against Big Bash I suppose)The AFL lost me years ago.
Refusing to entertain equal pay / conditions for female players
Do they generate the same cash into the game (gate/media licencing/product sales)? to justify equal pay?
@jv: Good point, and they obviously don't (yet). But the players are committing themselves to many months of professional training, playing, risk of injury, etc., for little financial reward in comparison to male players in the AFL (or maybe even the VFL).
@jv: Tassie does not have a representative team though. Recent articles suggest that the game is dying off in Tassie as players abandon the sport and clubs close.

They aren't being forced into it…
Also, many getting paid sponsorship deals on top of their pay…
Daisy Pearce would be making a mint from all the TV ads alone..

Because there aren't enough supporters that would go to the games… I'm pretty sure they've done the maths…

Make the teams uni-sex. If they are as great as you're making them out to be, they'll have no issue competing against males right? Right?
Also, why aren't male Netballers paid as much as female players. Outrageous…right?

and male models vs female models.
@jv:
And men die earlier but women's health gets four times more funding. But yeah…those poor sports women, that's the big issue.
those poor sports women, that's the big issue.
they must be living out of rubbish bins to survive…
@jv: Do they even have the skill levels of a quality under 18s side?
Do they even have the skill levels of a quality under 18s side?
They score at about the same rate as Auskick…
@jv: I just don't see the point in pushing people to support a league where the skills are sub-par.
There's a reason why people follow the NBA and not the British Basketball League. Sure, they're playing the same sport, but nowhere near the same level.
When the women are playing a quality brand of footy - then get people behind them. You can't push beginners straight into the Premier League. How do you suppose the game draws the revenue that would enable the woman to be paid equal to the men? Of course that's assuming you are referring to salary cap?
@jv:
And male porn stars…@GG57: female players generate much less money and crowds than males.
Only interest in this contest is whether any of my teams star players get hurt.
Won't be any from Weagles getting hurt.
$10 per ticket + $2.95 transaction fee
30% fee seems a bit excessive…
Per transaction not per ticket, but yes it's expensive
Same deal for the Sydney games: https://twitter.com/scg/status/963236457061036033
Tickets were normally $15
Oh so not a huge discount. Kids normally free?
Concession $10, Kids under 12 free!
Wouldn't watch this if Gillon paid me
Cheaper to watch it on TV
