Have been looking for a laptop for my parents, this seems to be a pretty good deal, I haven't been able to find anything comparable for less than $1000

    Any deal with the an i7-8550U, OR same i5 with upgraded RAM and a dedicated GPU?

      You can get the i5 with an RX 550 for $1171 (comes with 128 GB SSD/1TB HDD combination). Keeping the integrated graphics and adding the i7 raises the price to $1226. Add an extra 8GB RAM for $105

        Thanks. Comes to about $1,329 with i7-8550U with 16GB RAM but the rest isn't so great, comparing with current eBay deals with 20% discount.

      I believe upgrades can be configured at a lower price than normal with this.

  Nice deal Op, but for someone looking for dedicated graphics card, JB Hi-Fi has a DELL laptop with similar specs plus AMD Radeon 530 GDDR5 (4GB GDDR5) for $998.
  Also the same laptop can be customized from dell.

  Does anyone know how much this actually weight? It's stated starting from 2.1kg. But I found my e470 weighs more than stated.

  I don't know that you can, from memory the Dell computer that smokey010 listed has it, as well as a seperate graphics and a DVD drive if that would be more suitable for about $90 more.

        Look at the Lenovo Yoga. For 2-in-1 max screen size is 14" though, so different category here. Also with 1k budget I don't think you'd get 8th gen CPU.

        CPU code suggests it's 8th gen i5 same as the ThinkPad E580. But the AC Charger vs USB-C gets me.. I feel like I'm crawling up the walls making a decision.
