A 7% discount does not qualify for Ozbargain. This is just advertising, which usually doesn't last long around here.

    • This is just advertising

So the foundations of this website? Advertising deals…

If it's a decent one is another matter

    • +1

That isn't a justified reason to neg this. Maybe if you cited a cheaper equivalent elsewhere, etc.

This is actually a pretty good price.

I bought this exact welder from the eWelders website for a little over $600 delivered. A terrific MIG and Stick welder.
Great welder btw. Has components normally found in more expensive welder setups, and gives 180A welding current from a standard powerpoint connection (10A plug).

Duty cycle isn't great, so for heavy duty constant production over a full day of welding not suitable, but for light industrial use where there's time between welds (or even a serious home user), this one is perfect. if you aren't sure on "duty cycle", google it. This welder is more than capable, its just that it wont let you keep welding hour after hour without stopping (will need time to cool down).

Happy to answer any questions on it if you like, but for $540 delivered this is very competitive.
I'm not affiliated with the above user or website, just happy to answer any questions on this particular welder because I'm such a nice guy :).

I don't know much about the welder, but how is this a 'competitive' price? Seems like 549.00 is standard across a few different retailers.

Ten dollars off isnt exactly a bargain, and the markup on these arent exactly little.

      • All I can tell you is that 8 months ago, you couldn't get this welder for under $600. I got it 'on sale' for $605 delivered. I couldn't find it anywhere for even close to that for the few months prior to buying and was waiting for the sale.
Maybe it's RRP has dropped or something? Going by your links that's probably the case.

But it's a pretty good price for the specs of the welder. Just having a quick look online now, there's nothing else out there with the same specs and price. Although it looks like you're right… quite a few sites now showing around the $550 mark.

        Still a good welder though!

I'm welding a steel frame together. approx 5x4m using 3-5mm gal. Will this be suitable?

      • +1

Yep. My first project was a welding table. Was 50mmx50mm box section at 2mm thick.
Have also done 4mm thick posts for a gate and fence.

I just use gasless mig wire so I don't have to stuff about with gas bottles. I went with 9mm flux core wire, but you could also go with 8mm wire if you are going to do more thin metal work.

*edited: sorry, in case you aren't sure what box section is, its square tubing.

Take care with the fumes, esp welding Galvanised product.
