    How much are they normally?

    • +2

Worth less than my entire life.

RRP is $31.95/set and current street price is around $25/set.

  • 23 to 27 depending on the shop you go to… having said that op. How do we know these are the real thing? Last time I bought these in bulk form an online vendor they turned out to to be fakes…

    • Hey mate, rest assured.
We're one of authorised elixir dealers here.
and they all come in new packages.
      Elixir recently changed their packaging
all of those counterfeit products from china comes in old packaging.

    • curios to know how were you able to tell they were fakes?

Just be aware of 'Too good to be true' sort of deals on eBay…

Visual inspection and touch, when compared with the real deal. The fake wound strings were a redder coppery color, and the touch was much rougher as well, almost like uncoated strings.

        • seems to be what the thread was saying.. how about the packaging too?

  • What even is this?

    • They are guitar strings coated with a polymer coating. I believe it is goretex. They really do stay quite fresh sounding for perhaps 4 or 5 times longer than uncoated strings. Uncoated strings sound a bit "zingyer" than these in the first instance, but then degrade quickly thereafter. Meanwhile Elixirs tend to have a very much longer "sweet period". I use them on all my acoustics as well as my electric guitars that I don't play regularly.

      • Goretex? I thought the coating just stopped the strings from rusting.

        • The coating stops rusting, sure. Rust and grime will cause the strings to degrade. Also makes the strings slippery which helps for playing.
