  • I don’t think you need to follow those instructions. Broadlink(ihc app) is now available in google assistant

    Cheers.

I noticed the other day that this works on the open source Home Assistant https://home-assistant.io/

Also you can link Mycroft-AI to Home Assistant.

    • Works with homebridge too with the broadlink plugin. Been using it for a while now to control my A/C with HomeKit. Amazing.

  • How do you delete your account with these guys?
I created an account to purchase two of these, for some reason it only applied the discount to one of the items.
I close the browser and try again, now it won't let me use the code 'again'. Geniuses

    • check your my order page, will have a pending order, delete that and you can use the code again, or create another account

There is no option for AU power adapter. Only US, UK and EU?

    • When I bought one a few weeks ago, I chose US adapter, but AFAIK it's kinda irrelevant - it is powered by micro USB, so it doesn't really matter what adapter you choose as such, as I assume like most people, you have a stack of micro USB cables / power adapters lying around at home?

Yup, if your house isn't on fire plug it into a USB slot on your Xiaomi power strip.

  • No AU adapter?

    • Not really needed by 99% of people. It's USB 5V right?

  • My third broadlink device. Thanks

  • Ordered, hopefully this is a cheaper option than a Harmony Hub and can integrate with Google Home.

    • Yep, perfect replacement. Though I still like asking Google to tell Harmony what to do.

    • For sure it’s cheaper. Harmony you’re paying to save time setting up all your brand name appliances with an IR code for every button.

    • I have the RM Mini 3 connected to G.Home as works fine(straight from the home's menu app). I can't see why the pro one wouldn't work. It's just a matter of time until i get the pro delivered.

  • Anyone can tell me if this operates garage door remotely (eg. At work)?

I'm always worried that I might forget to shut the garage after leaving. Couple of occasion I actually made that mistake, and freaked out arriving home with garage left opened for the whole day.

    • It probably wouldn't put you at ease (unless your garage door has an open and close button separately). You could watch it with a webcam remotely to be safe

You would just be hoping that you forgot and just toggling whether it is open or closed, which could easily result in you leaving it open more often.

      • Even then, most use rolling codes so you're SOL.

    • Check whether your garage door uses the supported frequencies (315 or 433 MHz).
It's quite common for garage doors to operate on other frequencies like 303 or 390 MHz, meaning this won't be able to operate them.

      • Tried this with my garage remote which has rolling codes which Broadlink doesn't support.

    • no it wont. best way is to run home assistant with RF transmitter which supports garage remote rolling codes.

      • I have home assistant. Which RF transmitter supports codes?

        • Would like to know this too.

Get a spare replacement remote and hook wires up to each side of the button contacts and into a circuit that connects to the Raspberry Pi’s GPIO ports (assuming you use a Raspberry Pi) then make a Home Assistant extension to just trigger the switch on the remote when the command is sent.

        • @stickyfingers: I was hoping there would be a simpler method. I run home assistant from my server

        • @jackwoz: There's a bunch of stuff on here that you can fit over a remote that physically pushes the button. Good luck!

Routers sure take on strange forms these days. This one's a UFO.

  • What's the difference between this and the Broadlink Mini 3 ?

    • +1

      Integration points mostly, power, range.

    • +2

Besides what MorriJ said, this also includes RF while the Mini 3 only has IR.

    • +1

      Mini is IR only

  • Seems not working with ios google home

    • you will need to add a scene in ihc app first and then manage it under google assistant

  • Google home assistant will only do RF not IR also.

    • Since this has both, won't Google home assist work with it?

    • have you tried to add an rf scene in ihc app, it should then appear in google assistant

  • Anyone played with the black-cat firmware?

    https://www.catch.com.au/product/black-cat-broadlink-ir-rm-p…

    • I don't think it's any different. Black Cat have just got it AU certified. Aldi had a rebadged kit years ago.

  • Thank you bought one. Such a shame that I bought the mini 3, 2 weeks ago, which is still in transit and haven’t even arrived at my house yet. Is there any use for it now that I have the pro :(

    • Control the neighbour's tv with it.

  • can I ask how to use this guy? should I put all tv aircon tv box within the sight/range of this machine? or I need to buy one for each room?

    • I've got one in each room with an independent AC. The lounge has a single RM mini3 controlling the tv, DVD, amp, AC etc.

If you're using IR, line of sight matters. RF presumably not.

      • ok,i see, thx mate

  • Cheers OP, grabbed one!

  • Missed the previous broadlink mini3 deal, bought this one instead even though I don't have any RF devices.. oh well

    Thanks OP!

  • +1

All used up :( Ah well next one then

  • Anyone know if this works with Foxtel? (Google is sparse on it!)

    • Yes, every IR controlled device.

Support all IR controlled devices such as TV, Air condition, DVD, etc.

      • I'm not sure this is correct, but can't confirm as I don't have this model. I have the Broadlink RM mini and it doesn't work with Foxtel or my Aircon. I think Foxtel might be on a different IR frequency or something. It does however work with my TV and receiver.

    • Shonky went into it here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/254874#comment-3812828

I haven't been able to get my Mini 3 (black bean) to learn the Foxtel codes or the Xbox one codes but I have not given up

  • Im still waiting on mine from the last round that was discounted.
    Im keen to try it!
