      Certainly not Triple J.

        they caved into the inner-city Greens and bloody Socialists!

        • +7

          Correction…they are inner-city Greens and bloody Socialists!

        • +8

          @PainToad:

          I guess they are catering to their core market, but also dividing the country and politicising our national day

        • +3

          @diddy50:
          Nah, they are just cowards.

        • +1

          they ran a survey to their listeners.
          Their Listeners may be inner-city Greens and bloody socialists but they made a decision based on the feedback to their audience.
          You can always load up Corey Bernardi's spotify playlist

        • +4

          @Joey Jo Jo:

          they ran a survey to their listeners.

          Shame they aren't only funded by their listeners. Rather, every tax payer.

        • +5

          @Joey Jo Jo: Except far more people listen to the Hottest 100 countdown than respond to a non-advertised survey.

        • +5

          @coxymla: one time listeners who vote for songs that the station has never played all year. No you're right, the station was wrong to give their regular listeners a say

        • +7

          @PainToad: I pay taxes for many services I don't use or agree with but whinging about them on the internet is something that has never crossed my mind.

        • @Joey Jo Jo:

          So populism then.

        • +1

          @Ozbargainite: you do realise the hottest 100 is a vote based on the songs played on triple j. It is literally populism.

      • +5

        That's okay, nothing for you to see here, just stick with your Novas, Triple Ms, whatevers…

        • -1

          How cute. FM is dead and pointless. I'll stick with Spotify and getting choose what music I want to listen to. Not some bimbo behind a microphone.

      • What do you listen to?

        • -3

          Whatever I want to. I don't need some manipulated 100 list telling me what to listen to. It's not the 90s anymore.

    • +1

      Not my pick but will prob be Green Light by Lorde

  • +5

    counting down the hottest songs of 2017.

    On what day this year?

    • 27th.

    • Saturday 27th January

    • -6

      Who cares.

    • Saturday 27 Jan, Holocoust memorial day. Geniuses at JJJ

  • +2

    Now in its 25th year, triple j’s Hottest 100 remains used to be the most talked about and listened to radio event

    • +2

      yet here we are talking about it.

    • Now in its 25th year, triple j’s Hottest 100 remains used to be still is the most talked about and listened to radio event but for all the wrong reasons

      Fixed

  • +7

    Sorry but I only listen to the ozzest 100

    • -3

      Thanks for your input, Mr. Bernardi.

  • +6

    Soz, I'll be too busy listening to other countdowns on Australia Day.

    • +2

      Leaves you time to listen to the Hottest 100 on the 27th then

  • +5

    But T J did survey at Brunswick cafe and all were in support of the move.

  • +4

    If those inner city lefties spent 10% of the energy they spent on changing the countdown date, on finding a stable job, they would not complain Centrelink is not enough to fund their jeans from General Pants.

    • I’m an inner city leftie and earn over $100k. And who the hell shops at General Pants other than under 18 year olds?

  • +6

    Triple J is so commercial these days. I prefer PBS / 3RRR as they always have something new and different.

    • +4

      As does 4ZZZ in Brissie. Anyways, Double J is a much better listen than its sister station.

    • +1

      Agreed.

      Found that 80% of the content on triple J is either pop music with dance influence, or dance music with pop influence, with either generic female backing vocals, or autotuned male backing vocals. Struggle to tell the difference between the commercial stations and Triple J.

      I am Perth based and just stick to RTR now. Don't agree with much of the politics on the station, but there is some fantastic range.

      Maybe I just got old.

      • Gotta love Full Frequency & Looney Choons.

        • Huge fan of Global Rhythm Pot. Nothing like screaming down the freeway and suddenly a Mariachi band is playing full blast. Still not quite sure what Golden Apples of the Sun is all about. I think LSD, but not 100% sure.

  • +4

    $20 says sales from the this year's top 100 hit an all time low.

    No wonder they have to offer discounts and throw in a free bottle opener to entice people.

    • +1

      Then why are you here?

      • +2

        I feel honored that you made an account just so you could make your first comment as a to reply to me!

        Strange, but there you go.

        • I see you looked me up just to comment on my ob status.

          Strange, but there you go.

          @PaulIsDead:

          It's 1 click on your name on this page to see, so don't feel too special darling. It's not like I made an account just to talk to you ;)

          @c0balt:

          You must be fun at parties, Stella.

  • +6

    wow, so much complaining in these comments

    • +4

      Just wait 'til JV gets here…

    • +1

      Welcome to OzBaragin, where everyone is entitled and has an opinion about everything.

  • Why doesn't the Hottest 100 collection ever have 100 tracks on it?

  • And by the way, the hottest 100 were developed and first transmitted before JJJ came up with it by Brisbanes 4ZZZ.
