Dell is now doing some Christmas clearance sales. Here is a link to some soon-to-be-yester-year products, including 30% off Vostro V13 ultraportable laptop and 40% off Latitude E5400/E6400 Core2-based business laptops.

  • Dell Vostro V13 - $769
  • Core2 Duo SU7300 at 1.3GHz
  • 2GB DDR3 RAM
  • 320GB HDD
  • 13.3" LCD
  • Integrated graphics
  • 1 Year next business day onsite service

And this is the one with big discount:

  • Dell Latitude E6400 - $990
  • Core2 Duo P8700 at 2.53GHz
  • Windows 7 Professional
  • 4GB DDR2 RAM
  • 250GB SATA Free Fall Sensor Hard Drive
  • 14.1" WXGA+ (1440x900) LED Display
  • Integrated graphics
  • 9 cell battery
  • Finger print reader
  • 3 Years next business day onsite service

A Latitude with 3 years next business day onsite service would normally be around $2k, and Latitude is a very well built business laptop. The only one in Dell's range with docking station I think. Yes I know the CPU and RAM is quite out dated (P8700 was released 2 years ago).

  • I don't think it worth that much. Now for around $1000 you can buy a much better Laptop.

    • Anything at less than $1000 with better spec, 3 year warranty and 16:10 1440x900 display (not some 16:9 argh-I-want-more-screen-realestate display)?

  • Genuine Windows(R) 7 Professional 32 bit (English)
    and
    4GB DDR2 RAM

    can they work together?

    • yes they can

    • Of course it'll work. But only about 3.6GB of RAM will be visible to Windows. You'll do better with 4GB than only 2GB.

Also remember that the integrated graphics (may) take some of the RAM.

There's plenty of hacks out there that allow Win32 to access all that memory (up to 64GB?)… here's just one, but google for more

    • the 32-bit serial works with 64-bit as well

    • When you click on Customise it actually has Windows 7 Pro 64bit as $0 option. Why Dell chose to have 32bit on a 4GB box as default is beyond me…

  • I never had discount from moneybackco. Can anyone tell me, how to get a discount on Dell from them, if the model is not listed in the moneybackco site?

    • It's a Dell SMB model, so you

      1. Sign up MoneyBackCo or iReward (https://secure.moneybackco.com/4g/join/)
      2. Assuming you are joining MoneyBackCo, login and go to Dell SMB's page (http://www.moneybackco.com.au/merchants/Dell-Small-Business/)
      3. You should now get a link to redirect to Dell. Make your purchase there, and the amount will appear in MBC's tracking within a few days.
      • Thanks for the reply Scotty.
But the link takes me to Dell's member offer page. So are all dell purchases from the link provided ( http://www.moneybackco.com.au/visit/2039/ ) coming under it or only the member deals?

        • Yes. When you click through MBC, then anything you buy from that merchant (well, almost, somethings like gift cards might not apply) would be counted as commission to MBC, which then they will rebate that back to you.

For Dell it is a bit tricky as the Small/Medium Business and Home are two separate departments so make sure you click through the correct one.
