Buy a $50 off $120 Kogan Voucher from eBay for $13 and get it for $102

    • And these coupon codes are not tied to a specific Kogan account?.

    • Thanks @echnofashion. But also thanks @juzzy96. I just ordered a voucher for $10.38 and received the coupon codes within 5 minutes. Applied as evoucher on checkout to this offer, and boom, Google Home for $99.38! Thanks! The deal title should be updated :)

    • Nice find, just bought a Google Home for $98.

  • I have been seeing deals like this for the Google home and the home mini for quite a while, but I cannot really see the value of those products. Can someone please explain why should I spend $150 on this product?
If I buy one of this, will I have to spend more on compatible products like tv, lights, etc?
    Any explanation will be appreciated.
    Thanks

Yes, but depends on what you want to do with it.

I pay google $12/mth (well $9.60 using 20% off g.play cards when on special) for YouTube red/Google Music. Kids love youtube so removing ads was initially my reason, google music was the bonus. Then I discovered Youtube music & that was the bonus. So the subscription compiments the product.

I've got 2 x g.homes (upstairs & downstairs) the kids love it (they love asking it to play music for their friday night pre-bed disco, asking it inane questions, playing videos from YouTube on the TV - we have Chromecast) my kids asks it how to spel words, the meaning of words and of course Does it poo or wee? (Nope AI don't need to do such things)

My wife loves cooking & listening to music/podcasts. 75% of her conversations with g.Home is setting timers (or asking for metric conversions), 20% is asking it to play music/podcasts. 5% is asking questions.

I like music, toys, cooking, keeping the kids busy. So my uses are timers (cooking/brewing tea).putting vids on the tv, turn on/off dimming the Xiaomi light, playing music & programming via IFTTT g.home to give answers to specific questions (usually involving the kids, their mates), asking to set calendar reminders, adding stuff to grocery list, what the weather will be overnight/tomorrow & if it will rain, calulations, traffic to work and inane questions.

You only need to big one if you want music. You dont really need any if you've got an Amdroid phone you're happy to use. If you cook using an oven & hotplates its so handy to set alarms verbally (to be honest if it only did that, it would still be the most used appliance in our house)

You can use your phone for 99% of the functions. its lazy/convenience device. But it really is handy to verbally do things. I realised this a few years ago when my daughter was asking YouTube to play videos (rather then typing). IMHO typing in 5yrs writing will be an art form, not a requirement.

If you dont think you'd play music through it, but are still interested. You can get the Google Mini for $52 at Shopmonk.

      I hope that helps.

      • Thanks for your very comprehensive answer.
I am not thinking on getting one. I am curious on why and how people use this device.
I have a Chromecast that I use to entertain the kid, and I found it handy, but I am not sure I can justify a Google home.
