      I would rather a refurbished unit direct from Apple opposed to something that's been sitting on a shelf in Myer for a very long time.

        @phocus: Batteries are perishable. Apple themselves claim that after 12 months their batteries will have lost capacity.

      I think in case of Apple it's not "repackaged" but actually refurbished, as in, look and wrapped brand new.
      I got mine as a refurb unit and they have the advantage of being manually and thoroughly tested unlike the factory units.
      But I see your point too :)

  This pricing looks like Apple of old, absolute garbage for what's inside.

    Yep, HP and Acer are cheaper and help you stay up to date by wearing out in a year or two. So you buy a new one.

    Btw, decent PCs have comparable prices to MB or MBP, not necessarily comparable quality (of many things - finish, ecosystem). I don't get that "absolute garbage".

    But yeah, I probs should not be replying here.

      Hp and Acer are far worse, but this particular device has extremely high competition for this price range and quality - even from Apple themselves.
