It depends on what size your rig is. If you have a mirrorless system the Crane V2 is good enough. The crane 2 can take much more weight (3.2kg vs 1.8kg of Crane v2) so if you use a7 you will probably want the crane 2. Bear in mind that there is a minimum weight for both of these (500g crane 2, 350g crane V2), as well, so you might want to consider that if you are considering using multiple cameras (e.g. I would need to add significant weight to the Crane 2 to use it with my RX100m3 but it is very easy to do with the crane V2)
Looking at using it for a Sony 18-105mm + A6500 and a Rode Videomicro microphone. Didn't know you could put point and shoot on it.
What happens if you don't meet the minimum weight?
Id assume the same as putting too much weight - it wont balance properly.
It goes a bit ballistic as it tries to balance nothing :D
Just be wary that with an on camera microphone, you can't actually get full rotation (on the yaw? The moving up and down bit) with the Crane V2 since it sticks out too much. I got around this by using a gorilla pod on the handle and attaching the mic that way. I don't know if this has improved for the Crane 2.
The a6500 should be fine on the crane v2.
@Fiximol: cheers mate, now to bite the bullet or wait to see if the Crane 2 drops in price.
Does this have the quick release plate too?
@YellowKnight: It does not :( You can, however attach a plate to it fairly easily.
My bad! Didn't know there was a Crane 2.
Thanks to Hamza for updating title + price
Grabbed one for my a6300 should be some fun!
I balanced Canon 80D with 10-18mm lens on v2 within 2 minutes.
So if you balance it properly it can easily stabilise a big camera with a mid sized lens.
No plate but there are rulers so you can take a note on balanced position of each camera lens combination you use.
Damn that's cheap! bought mine for significantly higher price a few months ago. Keep in mind that you don't magically get smooth moving shots. You still need to practice, check footage, practice again. You have to master the "ninja walk" to attain smooth footage (well there's always warp stabilizer)
I think I'll just bite the bullet. This is 2.5 times less than the Crane 2 and the cheapest it has ever been posted online.
Yep, hard to resist at the price.
If anyone is after a local unit, DCExpert have this for $599 less 20% as part of the current ebay tech sale.
Skytech is local stock mate.
Ah OK, great price in that case. I was hoping that the Crane 2 would have been listed in the PCTech ebay sale, but no luck. I see these guys have it, so I might give an offer a go.
What accessories should I get in order to take a selfie/group photos using digital camera (not phone)?
A tripod. Or a monopod with fold out legs.
Friends.
what if the friends want to be in the photo?
Strangers.
Price back up now, glad I got it when I did because it was a great price!
I can't balance my OMD EM-10 on it though… the prime lens isn't heavy enough I don't think =[
Damnit, I thought that was the regular price now.
Trick question. Is this a Zhiyun Crane 2 or a Zhiyun Crane v2?
They are separate models. Now it sometime can tell me whether it's worth getting double for the Crane 2 that would be great.
Edit: Never mind. Please update title to reflect the correct information.
