  • Good deal. Too bad I bought the Dell yesterday, but then again, I'd have second thoughts about buying a consumer lenovo laptop still.

  • Any workaround for non-shipping?

shipping makes this a no deal

  • OP had linked to the wrong product. Had linked to this one instead of this one, so the price came out wrong.

I suspect the OP found this comment.

  • Besides the included pen, any other significant differences to this one?

Does the computer have international warranty?
    Answer:
No, this is a North American model. The limited manufacturer's warranty is valid only in North America.

Consumer law is international when trading in an Australian market. By selling and shipping to an Australian the seller is trading in an Australian market and must comply by local consumer law.

May be hard to enforce this, but anything like credit card chargeback or Amazon dispute (if similar to PayPal dispute) will be automatically in your favour as you have the legal upper ground. This gives you at least ~180 days.

After 180 days, you can pressure the seller and they may comply (as they're legally required to), but the realistic cost of enforcing even a court order for them to pay is more than the cost of this device or any realistic consumer purchase - there's no real legal action you can actually take.

  • Thanks OP. Bought one and the Active Pen for ~$820 with expedited shipping.

    • Now the price is coming up as US $628.25 + $21.58 Shipping! @EVA-01, was this price you ended up paying?

        Laptop 599 + pen 24.12 + expedited shipping 28.15 = 651.27USD

Original seller sold out, which is why the laptop is showing $628 now.

  • Mine arrived today. Interestingly it included a pen….which was not stated in the original amazon listing. Not knowing this, the extra pen I have coming can be a spare for Mr15 (who is likely to lose it lol).

On warranty - I am going to buy for $185 a warranty upgrade on the Lenovo AU website (it lets me select a 2yr upgrade to 3yrs back to depot) for my serial, even though it's a US model. $185. I figure this being bought here, via the AU site means Lenovo here have to support this unit for 3yrs locally!

    • Oh damn I added an extra pen too

      • Me too.

  • So I was able to enter the serial number in the AU store and buy a warranty upgrade to 3 years CCI (customer carry in) / Drop to depot warranty extension for $185.

Given that they have allowed this, I am reasonably confident that this would be enforceable under Australian Consumer Law, and after all, the Flex 5 14" has identical specs to the AU sku for one of the Yoga 520 models for sale by Lenovo here (and retailers like JB).

Now I will ask about accidental damage cover.

  • Got the pen with the laptop as well.

Does anyone know if you can customise the pen buttons?

edit: Found the Wacom Pen program where you can customise the buttons for writing. Anyone know what the barrel button option does?

Unsure if pen needs to be connected with Bluetooth to work during normal use, not just writing

  • Which Australian Lenovo power adapter/charger are you guys ordering for use with these? Using an American plug adapter isn't a good long term decision, especially as this is meant to be a portable laptop for me. Just a bit worried I'll order something with the wrong specs and slowly ruin my battery.

Any of these will do. All you need is just the power cord that goes from the wall to the power supply. The PSU is multivoltage so it won't "ruin" anything.
