  • To me this is junk simply because its not rechargeable or can't be powered by a usb power bank.

I have one that I got on special for $30 that can and its great, it can even charge my phone. https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/oztrail-portable-fan-l…

    It is $9 though…

    • which one do you have?

      • +1

        The one in the link.

Since I have my Xiaomi power banks its easy to keep it running every single night, perfect when its hot while camping etc.

Anything with 18 mini-leds instead of one proper led is going to be crap.

One of those xiaomi usb fans plugged into a powerbank makes more sense. At least you can aim it.
A 16cm "ceiling fan" off 2 d-cells is just stupid.

For lighting, either use head-lamps, or get a proper 12V lighting system.

      • I agree the one posted is no good.

But the one I posted can be aimed, has a powerful light, and has a powerful fan.

    • That's what rechargable batteries are for.

      • Are you going to bring your battery recharger with you camping? To plug into your car or something?

        • It's a fair point, I suppose it depends how long you are camping for. Normally I take as many batteries as I will need. The solar rechargers are also an option.

Hmmm do you really want to go camping with pyr0maniac and a fan? Sounds dangerous to me!

I bought this exact item a little while back and have used it maybe 5 times. The fan still works but the LEDs are unreliable and flash intermittently. The kids can’t sleep with it on and it puts my wife in to a bad mood (the flashing light make me mad too).

    I don’t recommend this item.

You can just say it's crap if you want to, no need to beat around the bush.

While I agree with everyone that it's probably a piece of crap, I only posted it because it's $9. If nothing else, use it as a backup fan.

I bought a Romoss Powebank (2 usb outputs) on special for ~$20, a Xiaomi usb light and fan ~$3-$4. Not sure if I still need this, especially I only have AA and AAA rechargeable battery.

It looks like a good price for a tent fan delivered. I checked a similar one out the other day in a shop and found it wouldn't be sufficient for me in a hot night. I'm thinking about getting something like https://www.tentworld.com.au/buy-sale/oztrail-rechargeable-f… however most of the time i camp at powered sites and can use a normal 240v one

    • “……..however most of the time i camp at powered sites …..”

Camping in a tent at a powered site? Is that real camping? :)

      • It camping enough when you have 3 kids under the age of 5….

        • Fair enough, I’ll pay that :)

  • Looks like the adventure kings one from 4wd supacentre that everyone has been raving about and has good reviews except that’s $19.95 plus $10 postage

  • Had one of these, at best i call it horrible.

  • I have two of these, and the fan is big, has good power (well, for portable fans, ofc they're no Vornados) and lasts a while. They served me well a couple of years back when the missus and I had to sleep in the car once on a hot night because the accomodation we booked was mysteriously closed when we arrived in the middle of nowhere.

I have found the screw cap on the back comes off fairly easily which is a bit inconvenient. And I can't speak to the LEDs as I haven't really needed them. It's also somewhat bulky but I'll take that for a good portable fan.
