If only GB was usb powered!

    • You can get battery-> USB adaptors that have a little cable on them if you really wanted to.

Kinda defeats the $5 price point tho lol

    • +3

I got the GB and made it USB powered this evening.

Cut the end off an old USB cable, strip the positive and negative wires, solder to the positive and negative terminal. Bob's ya uncle!

I saw this thing in Kmart the other day, it looks and feels so cheap

    • +1

      thanks almost orderred. pass

    • +30

All this crap is destined for landfill before long.

    • +2

Yeah i would have expected great quality for $5 at kmart too…

    • +3

not sure what sort of build quality you are expecting for 5 bucks

  • +5

huh i thought it is a lite or budget version of GB

  • -2

    Another Kmart landfill clearance sale

  • +2

Future landfill… don’t buy these. They’re all low quality crap that you’d have to dump and destroy the environment

    • It doesn't matter who dumps them though, right? The consumer or the shop. In whatever way it happens, it WILL happen.

      :(

  • +4

Requires 3 x 1.5V AAA batteries (not included)

Batteries would end up costing more , probably goes through them quickly. More landfill. Unless your eneloooping.

    • Eneloop ones are 1.2V and they get eaten out very fast if used in these devices.

      • Why, what happens?

        • +1

This device needs 1.5V batteries and Eneloop AAA ones are 1.2V. so they get down very fast if used in these devices.

  • +5

Thanks OP. Been on the fence about the squishmallow light but for $2 trigger pulled.

  • +3

Yeah I saw these at the back when collecting a laybuy. They are flimsy. Dunno how they were able to get Nintendo to ok them. They were marked down to $10 at the time.

    • +3

Dunno how they were able to get Nintendo to ok them

Remeber when the Nintendo Seal of Quality sctually meant something.

Now even their first party hardware is crap, looking at your Wii U (everything) and Switch (Joycon).

  • +4

Yeah remember (if you old enough) the quality of the NES and SNES and the N64 when the came out. All the games were actually good and no crap would get through. Now it seems like they are just cashing in on the nostalgia.

    • -1

Yep, I was a SNES kid. The Nintendo fanboys are already in the vote down bandwagon. Sad.

      • +2

You should know as well as any then that the SNES had crap games from Home Alone, Home Improvement, Wayne's World, Pit Fighter, and all the other licenced and budget releases.

        • +1

But the hardware was solid. Not anymore.

          • @PainToad: The hardware is solid though, I've never had a problem. They've sold 150 million switches! Bound to be a few duds in there, just like toads.

    • +3

The Wii was (and still is) excellent as well! The only console I have and don't plan on upgrading any time soon, still use it weekly

    • +4

I remember losing my temper as a kid and through my NES controller at the wall… it actually bounced back, hit me on the head and left a cut. The controller was completely undamaged lol they don't make them like that anymore haha

  • +3

Debated the squishmallow. Noticed it can have usb as well as batteries. Regretted not buying the $2 usb cable from ikea. My daughter will love it.

  • Wow this is actually an official product! Just thought it's another dodgy kmart own Imitation…

    • You're joking, right?

      • additional cartridge lights would be cool though.

  • +1

Thanks OP! Got the Earth Spark/Bumblebee one!

Let me know if this Game Boy Light goes for a fiver http://iceboy.a-singer.de/db/mgl_iceboy_1/front.jpg

    • I remember reading about these. Japanese exclusive yeah? I wonder how much they fetch?

  • +1

The words "Nintendo Game Boy" and "Donut", I can't help but hit the like button!

  • o yeah I saw these they are nice :D if you like the old game boy this is pretty cool

  • +4

Some are available at Target as well, eg Squishmallows Light $2, but no free onepass delivery for Target clearance item.

If your Kmart doesn't have stock, or you wanted to use Target to pay with flybuy dollars/gift card or use Target Shop+ app rewards/cashback etc.

  • Found the skate lamp for 20c at my local last night. Bought one and it's great. Considering getting more for parts

Sitting in front of a Kmart waiting for the wife to do her shopping crap… Jump on OzTimeWaster and bingo! Looks like I'm going into Kmart for some plastic crap!! Lol

    • Ha did you buy any plastic crap?

  • I grabbed a plasma ball yesterday on clearance for $10 as well from my local kmart. Now this thing is actually cool.

    • Saw it yesterday, and didn't pull the trigger on it (just the pixelated cat). All gone now; delisted. I can always buy one on AliEx, I guess. How big is Kmart's?

      • Ah you won't get the same price. I bought one from Ali before Xmas. The big 8 inch one. Cost $40. And I ordered another last week before doing the kmart one by chance. And it is identical to the kmart one.

        • Kmart's is 8"??

What are you building there, young Tesla??

          • @wisdomtooth: Yup, it is a pretty large ball.

            I bought 3.

Ready for real life Red Alert…

            • @kickling: Damn! The 8"-ers are $40+ on AliEx…

And to think before this, it didn't even occur to me we needed a plasma ball, and now I'm chasing one up in China!…

              • @wisdomtooth: Yeah i didn't even think to scout kmart before Xmas gifting for this type of thing. I thought like back in my day, you'd only get this from a science shop or Dick Smith haha

                • +1

@kickling: You don't scout Kmart?? I'm reporting you to the OzBargain authorities!!

                  • +1

@wisdomtooth: Just at another kmart and more than 10 here. Dunno if you can order specifically if you can somehow contact customer service… I'd post to you but the cost $$

                    • @kickling: It's back online! Got one! Don't worry, I've got Onepass.

Pretty sure the landfill police here will come after us for it in no time, but at least I can hide behind you — I only got one 😅

                      • @wisdomtooth: I picked up some twirling lava lamp too for $5 haha. Great to keep for future gifting.

                        • @kickling: Now, that is total rubbish. It's just water twirling some scraps of metallic paper. Would you like to get that as a gift??

But if you want to gift me, I'm considering the Minecraft sword.
(just bc my son is into it atm)

                          • @wisdomtooth: Wall mount that thing would actually be cool if you had a wall sticker theme going in his room too…

                            • @kickling: OOS online… Here we go again with the sense of scarcity pushing me to buy things I was ambivalent about… Are you doing this? 😑

OTOH, rainbow neon light >> twirling "lava" lamp — got one, WTH not? 😁
