how much per a kilo? it doesn't sound cheap

They are commercial chips, and the fast cook kind that usually is more expensive. Home Style chips are not the same product.

That said no home needs 15kg chips.. so weird deal op.

      • That's interesting, man i do love chips.

  • where's the bargain?

hmmm, i have a deep fryer, 6 mins at 180c …. part of the issue at home is temp drop when frozen chips go in , it’s only 3 litres of oil, otherwise would take less time … and mine are never soggy.

i use coles frozen straight cut chips at $2kg, as potatoes like russet burbank or kennebec which are chipping potatoes are $3.50 kg at market .

i do using fresh potatoes to impress people with taste and teach about twice fried ( blanch 160c , crisp at 180c).

i would have expected these chips to be cheaper than coles.

Woolworths have a homebrand chip but it’s from holland, they use smaller potatoes. australian chips are longer as we use larger potatoes.

      You really know your chips!

Nah it's about what I'd expect for commercial a grade fast cook chips. I wouldn't wanna pay more…

As for oil, take em out 20 min before you cook so they are room temp, Less oil recovery needed. Also drop the home ones designed for the lower home fryer temps into a 20-30l fryer and they go very dark haha.

      • What is the difference, why do the commercial ones cost more?

        • +1

Differences in ingredients, oils they are cooked in in the case of these how much you have to cook them ect.

And before someone says there potato, what ingredients. You can have coating ect applied (we recently had ones sent with a (can't remember exactly what it was) sugar coating that gave the outside a firmer feel, but they tasted a bit diff so we didn't use them lol.

        • @Slippery Fish: Very interesting!

    $35 / 14 kilos = $2.50 a kilo

So 25% pricier for these chips compared to coles or woolworths brand but cheaper than some more pricier brand name ones.

    Hmm.

The question is do they deliver and for how much.
