This is a freaking awesome deal. Thanks op.

      Excellent deal!

Many of these sensors will also work fine with Arduino's.

      • I see a lot of these sensors in the Arduino kits

      • +1

What does not work with arduino? All just gpio isn't it?

Got a set. Will probably never use most, but still cheaper than waiting and buying two parts locally when I know i need them.

  • Great find!

It was in a post 2 days ago.

Deserves it's own post! Thanks OP you're a legend :-)

        • Price has increased now though. Original post of case a $6.99 is available… They are hot swapping deals.

@FabMan: Yeah gotta be quick on the buy button!

  • +7

I want it but don't know what to do with it!!

    • same… got me excited but no idea how it works

    • I know somebody that has one set up as a downloader. Hooked up a HDD to it and placed it in Uni for overnight downloads

    • Why not personify your pot plants by giving them a digital face?

  • +4

What ROM would work well for automated watering of a garden bed with this kit?

    • Interested in this also!

    • Do you mind posting here if you manage to find out pls? This is also something I've been considering recently

    • +2

      I previously looked at https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/opensprinkler-pi/

However by the time you get all the gear to drive the 24VAC solenoids setup it isn't overly cheap and decided to get an off the shelf unit for simplicity. Have fun!

  • And all 100 sold out!

Back to USD $15 which isn't too bad still.

  • +1

    Price updated.

Just went to $20.16 as I was about to checkout, looks like only 40% off now..

  • Yes was just posting that …. gone up to 20.16 for me too…. still going to get one though….

    • Same! So upset we missed it!

  • +1

Is there a code for this - otherwise must have missed it - it's USD$15 now?

  • The picture shows it supports Pi 3B/ 2B /B+.
Will it be safe to guess it will work with Pi 3 Zero?

  • +1

Price has gone up to $15 USD.

Can someone explain to me what i can do with this?

      Sense things

Each sensor is designed to produce a range of signals in response to environmental conditions e.g. if the light sensor is activated to 10% of its range of sensitivity it will send a signal representing 10, if the light is brighter it will send a higher number up to the limit of 100.

You can connect them to a Pi or Arduino etc. and write code that will use the results to trigger other actions.

If you want to automatically water your plants, you could write code that checked a humidity sensor, and if the humidity was below a level you set, then you could activate a watering system.

If you know exactly what you want to do, and don't want to write all the code yourself you could instead buy a kit that did exactly that, but it would cost a bit more than doing it yourself.

A quick google search for something like 'diy watering system for arduino' will give you results like this which should be enough to do it yourself.

There seems to be an every day price of AUD 12.59 here: https://www.banggood.com/Geekcreit-16-In-1-Sensor-Module-Kit…

  • That sold out quick :(

  • +1

Just to let you know, these are not plug and play, you need to write code.
    eg. https://diyhacking.com/raspberry-pi-gpio-control/

    • +1

Surely someone somewhere has written the code that you can rip off for yourself, didn't you do programming at uni? Degrees are handed out on this basis!

      • +1

Lol, last thing I want to do is go home and write a python code. These are mainly design for school kids who want to understand coding.
But its a worry when ppl ask, what to do with them? :)

  • where some raspberry expert that can tell us what we need this for, watering garden seems high on priority list !!

    • +2

Hook the sensor up to a door. Every time the door is opened, have a speaker yell 'Did you get the milk? I told you to get the milk! Error.. Error. Resetting…'

  • missed it

    • hi mate, i bring it back now

  • Am I the only one wondering what this is?

  • I posted this on previous deal when i was looking for some info re these sensors. Ordered one already and a bunch ot resistors and leds

    https://www.electronicgeek.ca/products/raspberry-pi-16-senso…

  • gearbest have it at AU$15.30 looks like the same product - possibly cheaper using USD

  • Back in stock - grabbed one thanks

  • Just ordered one… amazing deal.. !
Last time, I unnecessary wasted my money on AdaFruit…

  • +2

Wouldn't a Raspberry Pi be a bit of overkill for most remote sensing applications? Eg wouldn't Arduino be better for a watering system?

    • +2

one can do with feather HUZZAH with ESP8266 WiFi also

      • Wow so that's a wifi capable setup using only about 2W? Looks amazing.

        • +1

Confirm your original comment and second nmk's suggestion, surprisingly powerful solution for smaller stuff!

  • Back to ~$20 now

    • just added another 100 stocks, don't miss it again

Too late to party… Missed out. Any chance of more (pushing my luck!) please!

  • I have had a few bad experiences with LightInTheBox and won't shop with them again. Two out of three times the items have arrived later than the 40 working day delivery window (quoted as 6 - 33 days on checkout, not sure why). Once I was overcharged and couldn't get any refund. Customer service has provided long responses but are next to useless.

I was warned the first time on OzB about long delivery windows and didn't listen - didn't think it was possible for a package in 2017 to take longer than 40 working days to arrive.

The products have been as expected when they did arrive though, and I'm sure other people have been luckier than me - but I'm over them.

    • +1

Same here - had an order that was in processing. Decided to cancel the order (which you can in that status) however 24 hrs later received a pm from the site stating that the items were already shipped so tough luck!

if i wanted to return them i would have to bear the return shipping costs.

      Major turnoff

  • Has anyone got their order yet? I ordered on 10th Jan. Still waiting..

    • Still waiting

      • so I am not the only one. Thanks!

  • Arrived today :)

    • Cool.. when did you order this?

      • 11th Jan

        • I did mine on 10th. I can expect this anytime today or on Monday. Thanks for the update.
