          • @aja12: During this promotion they won't charge you if your phone has warranty, even if your battery is over 80%, however they try sway you by asking if they can diagnose what's draining your battery.

            • @zuuutoootuuu: What you’re saying is 100% incorrect. If your phone is in warranty but the battery exceeds 80% capacity (diagnostics done in store), then it’s not replaced under warranty.

              • @aja12: Can’t be incorrect as this is what I was advised when I picked up a new phone at launch then brought in 2x iPhone 7 Plus, both above 80% 1 week later. This happened at the Doncaster Apple store.
The tech did try to sway me against it being done but doing a diagnosis but I told them that that’s not what I came here for.

                • @zuuutoootuuu: Your first paragraph doesn’t make a lot of sense, but what you’re saying about free battery replacements for all in warranty iPhones, regardless of battery capacity is 100% incorrect. Read the terms and conditions, read every single article ever published on the topic, read Apples press release. What you’re saying is incorrect. Please show me anywhere on Apples site where they suggest what you’re saying is the case.

The tech did try to sway me against it being done but doing a diagnosis but I told them that that’s not what I came here for.

Apple run diagnostics just about every single time you go to them with a problem device. It was not done to try to “sway you against it being done”, it’s their process.

                  • @aja12: Exactly why I was surprised when they advised me differently to what I have read online when I picked up my new phone phone. Initially I asked the person if I had to meet a percentage requirement and they said that I didn’t under this promotion if the phone is still under warranty.
I’m not complaining I got 2 new batteries but they did try sway me by saying that it’s still at peak performance and doesn’t need to be done.

          • @aja12: Even although it says 96%, I feel battery is significantly worse than what it was in last year.

I now charge my iPhone almost twice a day for heavy use whereas my wife charges here iPhone xs max once every two days.

        • No

  • Had mine replaced on iphone SE for nothing. As long its less than two yrs old.

  • Well I tried to get my battery replaced and they said my phone has been 'tampered' by a third party and they refuse to do anything with it. I had my cracked screen replaced when I broke it overseas, so now my iPhone is considered untouchable. They're so anti-consumer it's almost comical

Took our 15 month iPhone 8 in to have the battery replaced two weeks ago. It’s was still 89% capacity, but wanted to swap it while it’s only $39. The staff member doing the swap ended up puncturing the old battery while trying to remove it and had to isolate the phone, so they just gave me a replacement phone.

    • So you were only charged $39 right?

      • They were going to charge me the $39, but then they waived that fee. They were very apologetic about the whole thing, to the point where I felt kind of bad for some reason.

    • Similar story. My SE battery was at 79% after 13 months. Qualified for a free battery replacement. One of tabs on the battery snapped during repair, received a replacement/refurbished phone.

One of my keys recently got stuck on my 2016 12” MacBook, the keyboard and top case were replaced for free.

People can bash Apple all they like, but their customer service is second to none.

Making popcorn with your Note 7?

      • Normal people dont actually buy those, still rocking S7

  • Will the water resistance capacity be intact after the job's done?

  • Shouldn't this be free under warranty?

  • Nothing new,

Also, if you go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health and it’s below 80%, if you’ve had your iPhone for 2 or less years, it’s a free replacement.

Is it worthwhile to replace the battery health at 91%?

  • +1

    Had my replaced today.

iPhone 7 just outside of 2 years old. Had to pay $39, my battery health was 85%.

Genius said it would probabaly take another 6 - 12 months to reach 80% but I’d rather pay $39 and know the battery is fine for another 2 years. New iPhone prices are ridiculous.

Apple are complete scammers. They did this to all of us on purpose. We have lemons & now need to pay for there stuff ups. If they don't replace my faulty iPod Touch then I'll never be buying another one of there products in my life. Apple Support have quoted me $119 for a replacement battery for my iPod Touch.. It's the 6th gen & was only released a few years ago yet still not included in there replacement list… Pathetic. Has anyone had luck getting an iPod/iPhone that's out of warranty fixed/replaced at a discount or for free? I'm going to make a big deal about this until Apple compensate me for what I was promised & paid for.

Why was I downvoted lol? Guessing Apple reps are all over here. Anyone looking to band up & take these scammers to court once & for all?

      • Grabbing the popcorn, let us know when you do!

    • @NeedWifeForVeryCheap - Apple have stated which phones are getting battery replacements for $39, idk what they promised you and what you mean by you'll get what you paid for. But there's no guarantee the battery will last a certain amount of years.

Your cost of $199 is probably because the battery is soldered onto the board and needs to be desoldered and then soldered back on.

      Way more complex than iPhones.

If you want it replaced for cheap get one of those mall kiosk places or do it yourself.

Took my daughter's iPhone 6s Plus in today as the battery had completely stopped charging and I'm just out of warranty. Initially tech told me that the phone needed to be replaced, when I said I couldn't pay that amount, $460 for a new iPhone 6s plus I was told to I could get a deal for$250. After talking it over with significant other, rep said they can replace the battery for$39 to see if it works. I agreed, phone working perfectly. Daughter Happy, Dad Happy.

Damn. My service date is 1st jan. I reckon i will be charged for the full price for battery replacement

  • Went to get my iPhone 7 battery replaced yesterday, it was at 85%. They couldn't get the bottom screws off (phones never been opened) so they gave me a new phone.
