For those of you who got yourself a brand new APS-C Canon Camera on Xmas sale, and are looking for a good telephoto lens without breaking the bank, look no further!

Essentially, not just this deal from eGlobal is the bargain, the lens itself is a bargain for lucky Canon APS-C camera owners.

This lens is 399 on Canon Store

And if you are not happy with eGlobal, you can buy off eBay around the same $190 delivered from here, for example, that's where I got mine.

Reviews: Digital Picture and Ken Rockwell, both generally praise image quality and handling.

Pro's:
- great image quality for the price. I've had it on the camera for a few days now, and the results are amazing
- light and small (if you compare to any other decent telephoto out there, like 70-200 f4L good luck getting that for under $200)
- image stabilization
- very quick and silent focus (STM)
- front element does not rotate during focusing, filter nerds rejoice!
- does AI servo during video on compatible cameras, if video is your thing
- respectable build quality (not L lens, no red rings here, but not shabby either, way better than 50mm 1.8 version II)

Con's:
- errr plastic lens mount? if it's a turn off for some

Yes, some very minor barrel and pincushion distortions, a bit of vignetting, a bit of CA, but almost unnoticeable. Shoot in RAW, and those little annoyances are removed with one click in any RAW editing software of your choice.

Enjoy!

The Pros outweigh the cons ….
Deals like this make me want to retire my 700D and get some canon gear again ……

Plastic mounts, don't know anybody who had worn them out …. you probably get a new camera before then.

Sales pitch for plastic it absorbs shock if you drop it, and might spring back into shape until you can get it fixed / replaced …. metal doesn't.

Also you can buy replacement mounts on Ebay ….

    • even if it breaks, and Canon doesn't fix it on warranty, buy a new one and still be cheaper than said 70-200 L (even without IS)
