          @Ozpit:
Gosh. I've always oiled my clippers AFTER use - done that on my current set for 20+ years and I'm still on my second bottle of oil.
My theory is by doing it this way, the clippers are (still) oiled before use, because they are oiled after I clean them and put the clippers away. To me, oiling the blades after use and cleaning helps prevent any corrosion, especially as I might not use them again for 2-3 weeks.
Am I the only one who does this?

        • @Ozpit:

Thanks Oz … I'll be careful doing that, if it looks like it needs aligning.

And it just makes sense to oil before and not after, though I can see a logic to doing it after - no oil is lost to the cutting, but it's also not available for lubrication.

        • @JH100:
The oil is still there on the blades when I go to use the clippers…

        • +1

          @StingyBritches:

Sure, but most of it will have gravitated to the lowest point and is no longer (as much) between the moving parts where you want it.

        • +1

@JH100: We could bat this back and forth all day and night. I'm more than happy for you to do it your way, and I'll continue to do it my way. Seems it must work either way.

        • @StingyBritches:

Hmm, I didn't know we were batting, as in competing. I thought we were exploring the logic, not dictating.

Logically I want the oil where and when it will do most good and that seems to be at the time and place of greatest friction, when the machine is started. YMMV …

        • @JH100: My logic is this: MY clippers are now 20+ years old and still running like a charm with me oiling them AFTER use. Most people appear to oil BEFORE use. Good on you and them. Regardless, Wahl are a great brand of clipper.

        • @StingyBritches: Thats what I have done too, figured it both lubricated and protected the blades.

        • @Ozpit: Sewing machine oil ought to be fine.

        • @StingyBritches: I do this too. Was told to do it this way by a salesperson at shaver shop.

  • Got it for 14.95 delivered..

  • Any good for deshedding pets?

Any recommendations which one would be best for trimming the pubic region? Cheers

    • +1

These will be fine unless you’ve got some 80’s style afro growth going on….in which case a trim with the scissors first would be recommended unless you want some serious pulling going on!

      • Do you recommend the beard trimmer for pubes or the hair clipper?

        • Most definitely the clippers. The beard trimmer would struggle against thick hair, unless the area is already close to cleanly shaven.

        • @Jonesy7707: Thanks

Thanks.ordered wahl rechargeable beard trimmer delivered for $19.90 good deal.

    • So more expensive?

      • Not soo much a "bargain"… also, betta lists the RRP at $24.95 :)

        • I was just curious why you mentioned it when it's not cheaper.

        • +4

          @Jonesy7707:
Sorry should have elaborated… anyway, I think shavershop RRP is a bit of a gimmick.

  • +1

Thanks for sharing. I ordered the clipper :)

      Don't forget to upvote.

      • istyler forgot.

  • Does anyone with a proper full beard use one of these beard trimmers? Like maybe on the sides…

I've always just used scissors to trim and a razor to tidy… had a mate rip out a huge chunk of hair about the size of a 20 cent piece and its been a bald spot for over a year.. kinda scared me off.

    • +1

These trimmers are pretty useless for full beards and are more meant for trimming stubble and shaping the edges. Clippers are better if you're trimming a thick beard.

      • Thought so, cheers, I'll just stick to scissors for now.

    • I ordered the beard trimmer a few weeks ago and it's pretty awful. I couldn't imagine anyone using this on a full beard.

      • This is the $13 delivered one BTW

  • +1

    Thanks bought one

  • has anyone just used the hair clipper to shave off their facial hair instead of the beard trimmer

    • +1

not fine enough the blades for your face (you wont remove much stubble), thats why there is a beard trimmer version.

  • I've been keeping an eye out for a replacement beard trimmer. The Philips one I got from CotD years ago (when they actually had good deals) for $10 posted is only holding charge for a couple minutes now, and can't use and charge it at the same time :(

Bought one of these, for $20 posted I'll give it a go, has a 2 year warranty, so if I get at least two years out of it I'll be happy.

Edit: Also, it looks like you can do free 'Click n Collect' if you purchase via their eBay store. In case anyone prefers to pickup over post.

Thank you was looking at some in Harvey Norman. Nearly bought them there.
Haven't been to the barber for over 20 years and saved a small fortune in time and money.

  • Purchased all 3.

      This guy trims.

Thanks so much OP, purchased. Funnily enough we were looking at some in Harvey Norman and decided against it, these look much better.

  • Damn, looks like these can't be used as replacement blades for my SuperTaper.

    Thanks OP!

    Thanks, I needed a new trimmer… for…. downstairs

    • I actually need one for the same reason, is the beard trimmer suitable for this?

      • Yeah, I use a beard trimmer all the time but I also pair it up with a razor/shaver for the areas I want smooth.

I just got this in the mail today, perfect for downstairs!

        • +1

Thanks a lot for the advice! It is like a jungle down there!!

  • Received my items

Thanks OP, I had bought the deluxe pro earlier but bought this as well for backup

    thanks getting one delivered today…

  • Ordered 2 electric toothbrushes, 1x clipper and 1× mach razor to get $60.58..used code to get free shipping and $10off..however, got the parcel today and 1x electric toothbrush missing and got charged $10 for postage..wtf..

  • i tried to buy another pair via ebay store and used a 10% off coupon i had… i got an error code 70049 and something about invalid url (paid via credit card, as it was for father inlaw… he didnt want me to use my paypal for some reason)
it appeared briefly in purchase history, said payment pending.. and then disappeared. i will go into store to buy another pair, but i am worried i will get charged again…

    • solved the issue… they dont accept credit card, so had to re-purcahse with paypal… all good

    Quick Delivery :)

And incredibly well packed. Good job Shaver Shop! Thanks OP.

      • Extremely fast shipping.

However I was actually disappointed at the lack of protective packaging used to ship the item
All they did on mine was put some black plastic over the original product packaging.

        • Nope mine was bubble wrapped.

        • Mine has black plastic wrap around the original packaging as well. I didn't mind, not like it's a $1000 item.

        • @hasher22:

Personally I think the price of the item is irrelevant, especially in the cases when you are paying for shipping.

A bit of extra care when packaging can avoid the inconvenience caused if something arrives damaged and then you have send it back and wait for a replacement.

It's probably one of the main reasons that I will choose click and collect whenever it's available.

      • Yep, mine had about 3 layers of bubble wrap around it.

  • Very impressed with the speed of the shipping and how well the products were packed. What I do find odd though is that the few things I ordered were all processed through my local store but when I checked the stock levels online it said no stores near me had any stock.

Going to return the Wahl beard trimmer tomorrow and see if they have a couple of the other items in stock that I am after.

    • What's wrong with the beard trimmer?

      • Pretty poor reviews from what I’ve read. This was the original trimmer that was listed, not the one in the OP now.

  • Got the hair clipper and beard trimmer delivered.
Gonna give the beard trimmer away as a gift to someone who will think it's good.

  • Got my delivery of the clippers yesterday… Not used yet but need to slightly re-align the blades, not quite spot-on for my liking…

As others said, packing was OK I spose, about 2 layers of small bubble wrap then black plastic similar to post satchels… Only travelled from the Gong to Sydney tho…

    All good for $15…

  • I bought the hair clipper set and was giddy from the excitement, thinking about all the money I'll save only to realise I have no idea how to cut my own hair.

I've been Googling and checking on Youtube so far.

Does anyone have any videos they recommend or any tip for Men DIY hair cuts?

  • Where do you guys do the cutting?

In the shower? In the bathroom? In the backyard? In the front yard?

I would imagine it would be bad for the drainage but much easier clean up.

    • In the garage for me, easy to sweep up in there.

      • Nice idea.

    • Back yard, on the grass via small extension cord. Mirror on wall hook. No need to sweep up!

      • Don't wanna scare my neighbors haha lol. They have a three storey balcony right over me haha.

  • Bought. Already arrived! Very happy!
