You say delivered then say free delivery when you spend $50 or more.

    Which one is it?

    • +16

Exactly what it says on there. Individually with the code $15/$20 delivered (ie $10 code cancels out the $10 shipping) or if you buy a few more items and the order is over $50 then you get free delivery as well so that $10 is taken off the cost of the items.

      • ok, got it, thanks for clearing that up

  • +1

Good price, grabbed both for $34.85 delivered to Brisbane. Got $10 off by signing up to their newsletter also (which is the code you posted).

  • Great price. Grabbed one yesterday.

    • +5

      Why no post yesterday?

      • +1

Can't answer for him but after visting and looking at the way The Shaver Shop is setup, I'm not so sure they aren't like Harris Scarfe and most everything in the store is always listed as reduced prices… Maybe it's just residual Boxing Day sales? I'm not sure.. But everything on the same row as the Wahl's had a "regular price, our price" sticker.

Oh yeah i forgot to!. Fixed.

  • +3

Another 10+ years of hair cuts for $15! Now that's a bargain.

    • +2

I still use the same Wahl clippers I bought in 2004.

      • +2

same here, around that time, still going strong. Shave my head with it every other week with no comb attached. They are GREAT.

      • Damn you've done well. I had a little-known French brand of clipper (Beston) that lasted me about 12 years until the motor eventually died. Superb little set.
I primarily used them for beard and moustache / stubble trimming and really struggled to replace them - most brands had the really long guide combs that made trimming a moustache very painful (having to line up the teeth with your nostrils), Remington's were blooming lethal! And very noisy. I tried Braun, VS, Babyliss, Kambrook (on a recommendation) before eventually spending a little bit more on a Wahl set while I was in Europe.
They lasted about two months before the blades rusted up (after I had used the cleaning brush).

        • Been using same set of Wahl clippers for over 10 years now .. just oiling (few drops) before each use, no sign of rust or wear on blades.

    Purchased. Thanks!!

    • Both looks to be still in stock. Do you have anything else in your cart which might be out of stock?

      • Forgot I had previously used the code for the nose/ear hair trimmer so had to sign up with a different email address which worked.

  • Perfect timing after the other beard trimmer went out of stock!

    • +1

the other one is still for sale on their ebay store :-)

  • +1

Thank you. This was an absolute bargain 😊

    • +1

A $59.95 hair clipper kit for $4.95 + $9.95 delivery is so much a bargain.

  • +1

Do many of you cut your own hair? It's not easy from my experience.

    • +3

Yes you've got to have practice to cut your own hair. I do it every time. But years of practice makes perfect.

    • +2

Go bald/shaved, if you can pull it off.

      • +9

I've been pulling it off for years.
        Saved heaps of money.

        • +22

Yeah hookers are expensive these days.

        • -1

Dude that's off topic, I meant shaving my head.

        • +1

@WatchNerd: Yeah obviously I wasn't referring to that lol

Keep doing what you're doing. I agree… Your method definitely saves money ;)

    • +1

I do. You can make a 360 mirror with light yourself.

I cut my hair every two weeks, so it saved a lot money for me.

    • +1

Been cutting my own for over 3 years. Definitely takes a few goes plus mistakes to get it right. I cut my own hair now like every fortnight.

Doing the back I just hold a handheld mirror and use a bathroom mirror that's infront of me and start cutting. My hand eye coordination is second nature now. Only downfall is I spend roughly 90 mins on every cut because I like to make everything even lol (more like OCD).

      • That's awesome! I think I'd be OK with using the clippers to do the sides and back, only thing is I don't know where to start with the scissors.

        • +2

Hmmm… The scissors I thought would have been the easy bit just like the sides haha. I would say the back is by far the hardest.

I actually have barber scissors not from my Wahl package and use it to cut the top of my hair. Good thing is my hair is straight so it is easy to manipulate. I use the scissors and chop the sides short and gradually move my way to the top leaving the length longer. I go for the mohawk look. Just do a bit of trial and error. Hair grows back so have a bit of fun.

    • +2

I've been doing a buzz cut for over a year now. Once a week I'll give my head a once over.

If you do it methodically, you don't need a mirror. Just keep shaving until no more hair is being cut. :)

  • annoying you have to buy $60 worth of stuff to get the $10 off

the sec the total order drops below $50 (after discount) you charged the $10 shipping lol

    • The SHAVE10 coupon takes $10 off. Makes this $14.90 delivered. I can't see how it can be any cheaper. The coupon essentially wipes off the cost of the shipping.

      • -6

I wanted free shipping and the $10 off.

        • +5

We all want bargains, but you don’t have to be so entitled about it. Deal is as good as it is

        • +1

          @Robertouno:
I guess it does sound like I am coming off as entitled.

What I wanted to do is pointed out how the coupon and free shipping is working when combined. So for others whom might have a bigger order get a better discount.

E.g my own order I combined with with some Oral B replacement toothbrush heads

        • +2

@str1k34: buy 4 of these and you're set!

  • Has anyone used this exact model before? Keen to know if it also overheats like the cheaper model

    • +1

Thats the model I have been using for the past 3 year, and its be great. Can't say I noticed any overheating on it, but I got this one here today as a backup.

      • Thanks, I'll grab one and give it a go

    • I've got this and to be honest its alright. For $15 you can't complain. It's definitely not as good as the WAHL clippers your local barber uses.

  • +1

Bought one of each. Bargain. Thanks.

  • +3

    Thanks for the deal!
I had a look at the reviews on the beard trimmer and they weren't great.
Decided to go with this philips one instead, $25 shipped but seems to be better :)
    http://www.shavershop.com.au/philips/qt4005-beard-trimmer-00…

  • Don't be seen clean shaven guys, women love a guy with stubble, it's manly ;)

  • Damn it! Already have one but deal is so good that I bought one. Was missing a few of those clippers so I feel justified in having another..

  • can this be used for body hair?

    • +3

      If you're a monkey.

  • Pretty bummed. Just bought this from their store…

    https://www.shavershop.com.au/wahl/cordless-groom-pro-hair-c…

Could have signed up for their $10 bonus

    :(

  • +1

I'll just wait for one of the purchasers here to open their own OzBarbershop.

    • not going in unless they pricebeat the $10 places

  • When I apply the code to my cart (~$53, so $0 shipping), shipping goes back to $9.95, so I effectively only save 5 cents. Is this an error?

    • +1

It's not an error. It's because the $10 off coupon it drops that $53 order down to $43 so it drops to under the $50 threshold which makes shipping apply. Add some thing extra to the cart to make the order to $50 or more. The free shipping is for orders of $50 or more and this includes when discount coupons are applied. Maybe add another set of these hair clippers to the cart.

  • +2

    Thanks.. Bought clippers..

    Any thoughts on this…

    https://www.shavershop.com.au/philips/3000-series-hair-clipp…

    • I've bought a Phillips one before (not this particular model though). Been great, very light, low vibration, easy to use the single adjustable guard and no oiling needed (which is the bit I liked the best, less gunky to clean). Would also be interested to know experiences from people with the 3000 model.

Before you buy the beard trimmer, it may be worth reading the Amazon reviews.

    Spoiler alert : 70% 1 star reviews

    https://www.amazon.com/Wahl-5598-Rechargeable-Beard-Trimmer/…

    • Oh no!!!!

Oh well for $20 and to trim down facial growth once every few days or so should be fine.

    • wrong one, not that the right ones reviews are any better.

      https://www.amazon.com/Wahl-All-Rechargeable-Grooming-9685/d…

      • I think mine was the right one. Compare the pics! :)

    • Cheers mate didn't see that yikes! Wahl products have generally been pretty good in my experience. Hopefully it's not as bad as those reviews suggest. Anyway found a couple of other trimmers with decent reviews for cheaper so have replaced that one now with those.

From my experience they (budget rechargeables ) have extremely low capacity NiCad cells have a very short life span (both in terms of holding a charge and charge cycles). The 2 year warranty will cover that, so little risk of being out of pocket!

  • +1

Wow cheap. Had my current Wahl cheapies for almost 10 years no problem, always good to have a spare! Thanks!

  • No use for the beard trimmer - won't get through this arabic stubble. For the clippers, with signup bonus, I can have 1 for $15, 2 for $30 or 5 for $65 (to activate free shipping)….hmmm

Anyone have any idea how well this would work on a Golden Retriever? The current clippers I'm using need to be destroyed by fire.

    • I was wondering the same thing. Wahl pet clippers are $100-200. I did the dog with the remington body trimmer and it worked but took forever

  • Bought both for 34 delivered, and I was actually in the market for this

  • +1

Thanks OP! Needed new blade oil for my current Wahl clippers which I have had for 4 years so thought why not!

  • +1

I use these to clip the schnauzer every couple of months. Work great.

    • +1

Same purpose! Work great on my poodle and save me $55 a pop at the groomers! 🐩

      • I've got a miniature poodle.

  • Is anybody still waiting on an email order receipt / invoice?

    • Still haven't got one yet!!

    • Email [email protected] with your order number and they will tell the store who is sending it to give you the tracking number for Australia Post.

      This is what I wrote:

      Subject:: Order 00XXXXXX

      Hi Team,

I haven't received an order confirmation for this order yet, just a PayPal payment notice.

      Kind Regards,

      • All good. They attached a hard copy invoice when the order arrived.

  • +3

Just for the record, these are the china made clippers, not he USA made. I tried the china ones and it plucked the hair out instead of cutting. Took them straight back with a half shaved head and got the USA made.

    • +1

From what price do the US made ones start?

      • You can get the quality Wahl clipppers on ebay, depends if you want a normal corded one or cordless. Wahl Legends on ebay for $114 or $102 with 10% OFF code or cordless ones Wahl magic clippers for $144 with 10% off.

  • My USA Wahl clippers are now 20+ years old and still going strong, but how could I resist this price? To get replacement guards/combs would cost more than this, so the 'Chinese' version is more than adequate as a spare. Excellent work, OP!

    • Hi will the combs on this model fit other Wahl clippers? Mine is US made model 8472 Taper 2000 (V5000 motor) cheers

  • Question for those who already use a clipper.

Do you oil the blades every time, before or after use?

    Thanks OP.

    • The manual for my clippers states oil blades before use, not sure if that means before every use but I have a couple of bottles of these that I got for free using vouchers and oil them before every use.

      • Probably before every use. I suppose machine oil would do as well.

        • +1

I've been buzzing my scone every two weeks for about 20 years with the same USA Wahl. It's brilliant. Oil the blades before every use. Replaced the blades once. You need to make sure the blades are aligned properly to get a clean cut, but once set they hold true forever.

        • @Ozpit:

Good to hear it from experience. Thanks.

Is there some trick to alignment?

        • +1

They should be set up correctly out of the box when new, but I've seen them a little askew out of the box. So it's worth checking them. And the alignment be can thrown out if you ever drop the clippers (easy to do, and I expect the blade teeth could easily be damaged).

Instructions on how to align the blades come in the box. But setting them can be fiddly. You line up the teeth as per the instructions, but when you tighten down the lock screw, the alignment can shift, so you might need to do it a few times to get right. But once set, they should hold for a long time.

And always keep the blades oiled. Just a couple of drops before each cut. And use oil made for clippers. It's a very light oil. A bit overpriced, but the bottle lasts a long, long time.
