Too quick to jump. You're not reading correctly.

Not quite the same thing. That $374 price is after deducting the EFTPOS $50 and OP's $381 price here is before deducting the EFTPOS $50.

The Sony eBay store regularly listed 'refurb' HX90Vs for $359, and regularly participates in eBay's 20% off sales without jacking the prices, so you might be able to snap one up for $287 if you're in no hurry. They also list the WX500 for a little less. Everything 'refurb' I've bought from that store (two cameras, five Blu-ray players) has been in practically new condition.

Personally not a fan of the HX90V/WX500 though, as they did something to the video stabilisation after the HX30V that made it more jittery.

    • no eftpos giftcard on refurbs though. but yeah cheaper.

  • Tried to bargain and they wouldn't go lower than $381 last time. Tho with the amex rebate was happy with it.

Just a note however this camera is terrible in low light. I bought it primarily as it is the smallest pocketable long zoom and has GPS and EVF which the others in this category do not.

    • Just a note however this camera is terrible in low light.

I've had this camera since August 2015 and the low light capability is better then most similar cameras. I've used this extensively for travel and the low light performance I can't fault given it's size. Maybe you need to look at using some of the other modes?

I even picked up a new one from the refurb store recently as there is still nothing on the market to replace it.

Thanks BlackIron2 for reminding me about Tourist Refund Scheme.

    $381 for Camera + $20 for Camera Case = $401

$100 back from AMEX deal so takes it down to $301

GST Refund if going overseas within 60 days of purchase which takes it down to $264.55 ($301 - $36.45)

Total spend $264.55 and bonus $50 EFTPOS card

  • This camera is crap. It's sooooo slow to focus and take a shot. Pics less clear than my older wx350. Returned it back to Sony a few days later. Even my LG G6 took clearer pics (without zoom). Terrible in low light when using zoom. Full zoom is almost useless without a tripod.

  • $0.20 cheaper at TGG if not taking advantage of the HN AMEX offer.

  • I usually love Sony cameras but this one actually left me pretty disappointed. I bought mine last year using Harvey Norman's $100 Amex rebate getting them to price match a competitor. The zoom is amazing for the camera's size/weight so it's good for travel, but to photograph everyday objects in anything less than bright daylight, it produces really noisy images. Not a fan.

    • Thank you for sharing. I'll wait for the right one to come along then.
