I think you should state price is $424.00 in the title. The $50 Sony Giftcard promo isn't a direct discount. The final value of $374 is only perceived, not realised.

I'm told that it is an EFTPOS card, as good as cash, can be spent anywhere. Is that not the case?

It is still a good idea to put the sticker price, then the price after cashback

        • This isn’t cash back. It’s an eftpos card. You can’t take the money off the card and put it in your bank account. The price is $424. For that price, you get a camera and a $50 gift card…

      • It is. I just think for the post, it should show the amount one needs to pay (the price). The final value can be a lesser amount e.g. with 2% cashback, or in this case, a $50 EFTPOS card.

Great price anyway. Harvey Norman is selling at $381.

Have you got yours? Is this good for videos too?

Alright guys, let's do some basic maths!

The camera is actually $424 with a $50 eftpos GC. Which means in total, you're spending $424 to get a value of $474 (when you spend the GC). This equates to roughly 10.5% of saving.

Now, the way OP has stated in the title sounds like you're spending $374 to get a value of $424. This equates to roughly 11.8% of saving.

A lot of people perceive both as being exactly the same but the requirement of extra purchase actually lowers the discount you think you are getting.

It's $381 at Harvey Norman, and you also get BONUS $50 EFTPOS Card via redemption

Add something $19 or more if you saved the AMEX deal and drops the total price a further $100

Edit: Thanks OP for the heads up. So I managed to get this camera at Harvey Norman for $381 and added the Vanguard VK 8 Compact Camera Pouch for $20 which brings the total to $401. Essentially paying only $301 (via AMEX deal) and getting a bonus $50 EFTPOS Card :)

    • Thanks BlackIron2 for reminding me about Tourist Refund Scheme.

      $381 for Camera + $20 for Camera Case = $401

$100 back from AMEX so takes it down to $301

GST Refund if going overseas within 60 days of purchase which takes it down to $264.55 ($301 - $36.45)

Total spend $264.55 and bonus $50 EFTPOS card

  • FYI: website says it is a backorder item.

    Hi all.
First time posting but long time Ozbargainer and I thought I found really good deal
You can use Harvey Norman "Live chat"to price match The Good Guys current offer of 15% off cameras to bring this down to $323
Then you can buy this at Harvey + a $80 HN Gift card to get the Amex $100 credit
Then you do the Sony redemption for the $50 Eftpos bonus card
Then if you are flying within the next 60 days you should be able to claim for the Tourist Refund Scheme which is a further 10% off the $323 price
I have the camera in my hands now and lol bought this without approval from the missus
She is watching youtube clips on reviews for it now and I'm hoping I didn't make a mistake but sometimes bargains are to be had

  • Oh noooooooooo
I just saw the Goods Guys increase their website price
They must have realised that $380 and 15% off was too much
I saw the post on cameras yesterday on ozbargain

Can the eftpos card be used directly to purchase this camera? If not, the deal is “$424 for camera and $50 gift card”

    • Nope, you get the $50 eftpos card by redemption after purchase
