Pioneer MVH-295BT Mechless in-Car Bluetooth Receiver - $68.60 @ JB Hi-Fi

70

Hi guys.
I received a Supercheap gift voucher for Christmas and decided I'd replace my car stereo with something which would allow hands free calls.
I settled on one of the budget models. Supercheap has the pioneer 295BT on 'sale' currently for $119.95 (down from $159.99 apparently). I did a quick search to see if that's a reasonable price & found that JB's have the same unit for $68.60, so I got a price match.
Anyhow, seems a decent enough unit if you want bluetooth hands free & USB. I'm guessing the sound should be as expected for a budget model (I have crappy speakers)?

Theres also a Sony DSXA400BT for $68.60 which is selling for $141.75 ($189RRP?) at supercheap. Again, seems a good savings, but I don't think the sony has the external mic that the pioneer has? I could well be wrong..

Hope it helps someone..
Happy sales shopping. :-D

Picked this unit up a couple of weeks ago for this price (at JB). I've been really impressed with it.

    • Can you please confirm if this Pioneer has external mic. connection?

For Android phones, would this be better than the Sony mentioned above?

It comes with an external mic that connects with a 3.5mm jack (or something very similar). It also comes with a sticky 3M style mount that I put on the dashboard (and a clip for the sun visor).

Thanks for info :-) Does the mic work/pick up voice well, just in case you tested it?

@ozhunter68: I have spoken on the phone to a few people all of whom said it sounded good, so that's all I have to go on! Personally I think the unit is great.

@Majosha, thanks for the feedback, picking up one tomorrow from JB HiFi. Quick question: does the unit play m4a audio files? Such as for example iTunes music files. (I know it plays mp3 files.) Cheers
