Reviews seem to indicate that, but I wasn’t game to say it due to Ozbargain love of the QC35’s lol.
Agreed. Cult following of the QC35 bothers me.
PXC 550 master race represent!
Damn straight!
No LDAC support in 2017? No Thanks. That's like buying a TV in 2017 that's not 4K and without HDR.
@Erkel: Does LDAC only work with Sony phones?
@lostn: Yes, it is a Sony proprietary hi-res bluetooth codec. Recent Xperia models will have LDAC support, with the Oreo update bringing LDAC support to earlier Xperia models. It's the best way to stream hi-res FLAC files via bluetooth without losing quality.
@Erkel: Isn’t Oreo bringing LDAC support to non-Xperia devices?
@aja12: Looks like you're right. Originally it was Sony exclusive, seems Sony has partnered up with Google to bring LDAC to non-Sony android Oreo devices. More people can now enjoy their hi-res FLACs in true high def.
@Erkel: Well, like all Sony proprietory formats, it will go the way of the dodo and not get support from anyone other than Sony.
Does it only apply to hi-res FLACs? Will LDAC make your existing library better to listen to?
Better in terms of sound quality and features.
However, if you want comfort then bose is the way to go
Flat out wrong. Tried both. Sony is superior.
@rorymeister: It's not even close how much better the Sony is.
Nope, I found the Bose ANC actually gave of a pitch which irritated my hearing. Sony on the other hand didn’t. Suggest trying it in store such as JB
Unless you're on a flight. Bose gets uncomfortable as the altitude changes. The Sony has built-in atmospheric pressure sensor and automatically adjusts for altitude changes.
Most reviews will state that but its worth trying both for oneself if theres an opportunity (JB should have them side by side). I compared the two about half a dozen times and came away preferring and purchasing the Bose for myself. Did buy my wife the Sony's though so as a household we have both and I wouldn't suggest against either.
Hmm, and here was I thinking that the QC35-II was the alternative to the popular WH-1000XM2.
It says Australia Post + Parcel Locker etc. I am happy with that :)
Would the VideoPro item be better for warranty and delivery? Just wondering about MightyApe being in NZ with customs etc..
I’be bought a few things from Mighty Ape and never had any issues, but I’d personally go with Video Pro for the extra $10.
Thanks mate. I guess a True Ozbargainer would go for the cheaper one.
Get your cashrewards ready everyone
I'm claiming TRS so definitely VideoPro
How much can you claim and how long does it take to get a refund?
I'm flying to Tokyo this weekend through BNE airport and that would be nice to get some money back.
Usually around 2 weeks.
And it would be the gst you paid for this product, which is 1/11 of the total price you paid.
@xjcs88: it's even better, the gst is calculated base on original price which is $436, so I can get $37 back
you will get about 9% back (1/11 as stated above) off the original price (not the discounted price, and excluding shipping). my calculations put it around AUD$315 after tax back, which gets refunded straight onto any credit card you present them.
but you will need to have the item travelling with you to claim when you exit aus, so timing may not work out for you bro.
seems like the cracking headband issue is still apparent, can anyone confirm?
Yes it seems so.
You can read a report (just translate it into english) here http://www.mobile-review.com/mp3/review/sony-wh1000xm2.shtml
http://www.mobile-review.com/articles/2017/image/birulki-462…
this article says nothing about the headband cracking issue. this guy is just complaining about cosmetic scratches out of the box, which is fair enough, but not the same issue.
personally, i think the cracking headback fiasco was overblown, it only affected batches, and original pair personally had no issues in 1.5 yrs of use, lucky for me.
Someone from mightyape store: 10:00:15 AEDST <—Impressive
That was me! Haha
Haha nice work
How effective would this be in cancelling out the noise coming out of my wife and children's mouths?
Unfortunately not effective, but I guess you already knew that…
Actually, pretty good. does the job for me
On a similar note, the H.Ear Sony MDH 100ABN are just $228 at addicted to audio (actual price $499). Similar to the advertised headphone above, they are bose QC35 killers. Have amazing NC cancellation and sensational sound.
https://addictedtoaudio.com.au/products/sony-mdr-100abn-nois…
If you're considering buying this, it may be worthwhile noting that it is a MicroUSB connector. Seeing as how many items are becoming USB-C, it may mean carrying an extra cable just for this. Also, may not be compatible with USB-C direct to phone for audio and require an adapter.
Having said that, there are no USB-C headphones yet. Bowers and Wilkins will likely be the first to launch as they've got reviewers currently closed testing them.
USB-C Headphones here
Good to know they are out there but this one is just a bit too niche for me.
Not sure if connection type should be a huge consideration for wireless headphones? Why would you need to carry around a cable with up to 30 hours use off a single charge?
If you use NC and run the headphones wireless, you won't get anywhere near 30 hours. Also you wouldn't buy the old apple accessories when you know Lightning is being released. This is no different really.
I said up to 30 hours. Micro USB is everywhere, and will continue to be everywhere for a lot longer. Manufactures continue to use it despite type-C being available for years.
Your Apple comparison is completely different, it’s nothing like the micro/type-c comparison. Apple was the only manufacturer that made products that used their proprietary connections. How many manufactures make products utilising these (micro/type-c) standard connection types? Silly comparison.
You should get close to 30 hours. They advertise the battery rating with NC on and wireless. Off and it'll be higher. I vaguely recall the originals were good for around 40 hours with NC off but I'm unsure about the current ones.
I'm definitely getting around 30 hours out of this thing, Listening 5-6 hours a day and charge once a week.
@ONEMariachi:
I must have got a dud. I get about 12 hours from mine. I do use it in high ambient noise (airplanes mostly) so maybe the NC is working overtime?
@tshow: Not sure, the only flights I tend to do is Melb-Adelaide so it's not long enough to tell properly. I use mine mostly in an office environment, trams, and walking through Melbourne CBD
The PX are already released overseas. Saw them being advertised on taxis last week so I imagine they’re available now at some retailers.
After reading this post, I looked up the online shop you mentioned, "Taxis", before I realized we were talking about the back of cars. Just goes to show how strong Uber's presence is.
Haha my bad. Tried to edit out the capital ‘t’ but must have failed to submit or didn’t do so in time.
Ironically enough I was in an Uber at the time I saw the ad on a taxi in front of us.
edit: https://www.minidisc.com.au/ is one store of a few that I believe have them for what its worth.RRP is $550 so its above the Sony and Bose.
Hence I’ve been holding back so far. I’ve been very interesting in trying a pair of PX, however most places won’t have a demo pair due to stock; and I’m not taking the plunge as reviews are quite mixed so far.
For me it’s def either the PX or Sony, Bose are out of the question as the ANC gave out a pitch which irritates my hearing, plus not overall impressed with the sound quality after demoing them at JB.
We're going through a transitional period where for the next few years you're going to need both cables.
Yes. Need 2 cables for stuff I already have. U wouldn't buy something to add to the collection of legacy fittings.
Get a C-female-to-micro-male adapter. They're frequently found here for less than a dollar.
It's not as big a deal as type-C proponents make it to be. I mean, if you're an iPhone user, you're already dealing with one extra cable type. Just pretend you're one of them and have to deal with another cable.
I use portable HDDs, which require their own cable, Micro-B. I used to have mini-USB also, but got rid of the last one recently. Unless I want to play my PSP again.
I always keep a cable with the carry pouch (for anything that needs a cable) anyway, so what cable it uses isn't that big a deal that it's a different cable.
Right now I have more micro-USB devices than type C, so that micro cable I won't be getting rid of any time soon.
@lostn:
I like travelling light. I do not hesitate mutilating things to remove redundancies and reduce weight.
It is no big deal if you're picturing a scenario of commuting back and forth from work but when out bush or travel or on expeditions, things get lost and damaged very quickly.
I probably sound like an article explorer (or more likely a dirty hitchhiking back packer) but I've learnt it the hard way. Too many things lost at sea.
@tshow: I have an idea.
Use a magnetic tip cable. You can get tips separately from micro, C, and Lightning. Put a tip in all your devices, and use the same cable for everything.

a true ozbargainer would have already nabbed one of these: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/350905
to turn any microusb to typec…. not that hard.

These are apparently better than the xm2s and workout to be $260. They have no cracking issues and are a newer model however i think there noise cancellation are on par with the qc35s not as good as the xm2s.
Went to the website, sale's ended
It seems that the QC35 still exist, but the price go up from 424 to 467.

anyone else’s order just get cancelled?
I got a funny email saying item was sold out. But also another email saying it was sent
Better than qc35ii if you are wondering.
