Ahh now the secret is out on OzB, everyone here knows you can hide valuable inside this clock.

    • +3

Anyone own this clock? Need it for research purposes… yes, that’ll do

      • Come on, it's only $9.90, it's an OzB deal. Go buy a few for your research :)

        • +12

          Whooosh

        • @ZubatRingo: Whoosh. I know ireadtermsofuse wants to know who owns it so he can steal from them. I just pretend and ignore that.

        • +3

That’s a negative ghostrider, the pattern is full.

        • +2

@edfoo: nice. Going for the roundabout kill. I dig it.

      • +4

Yeah I got one a while ago. Pretty sure $9.90 is rrp. Basic standard cheap clock with a deep backing. Not too obvious. Clicks shut nicely.
Calling it a safe is a bit misleading as it's really just a disguised cabinet. No locks.

    • OzBargain members = Criminals. Gotcha.

  • +4

The only problem would be if the burglar took a liking to the clock.

Obviously you'll have problems if the burglar is also and OzBargainer!

    • +14

You'll be able to tell if it's an Ozbargain burglar as they'll change the batteries to eneloops.

      • +5

An ozbargain burglar would try to steal eneloops from your clock.

  • +6

Thanks OP, going to get this to store my Ozbargain password.

    • Is it the name if a certain dog ?

      • Yes!!

Is it the name if a certain dog?

        Damn you're good.

I bought one of these and the hinge was flimsy and broke and then it was just useless.

    • +1

      Take it back…

    • +10

If you didn't break the hinge, it would have been useful.

      • +9

If it was useful the hinge wouldn't break.

        • +8

If it was broken the hinge wouldn't be useful.

        • +5

If it was usefully hinged, the broken hinge wouldn't be usefully broken.

        • @Meconium: This comment thread has unhinged me.

        • instructions unclear, ive become unhinged?

        • These comments are stealing my time ;)

        • @Meconium:
The hinge wouldn't be broke, if your gold was stored within

    • Don't store too many passwords in it!

    • +1

Maybe you should useless force on opening it

Great idea now I know what to get my Grandad for Christmas. That idiot is always forgetting what time it is!

      • +4

Being an idiot, hopefully he will also forget you in his will.

        • +1

He might, but I don't spend my days thinking about my loved ones dying and getting my hands on the money that they worked hard all their life for. I'll let you worry about those kind of things.

        • @Magnastar:

Is "that idiot" one of your loved ones?

        • +1

          @jackspratt:

You seem quite butthurt that I referred to my grandad as an idiot. Gotta love the internet and all it's nutters getting wildly offended at things that have nothing to do with them and impact them in no way whatsoever.

          Get over it princess.

        • @Magnastar:

You've certainly vividly demonstrated 1 aspect of the internet - it provides an outlet for unthinking nutters.

        • @jackspratt:

Yes I called my grandad an idiot. Oh the horror, I've sullied the internet forever!

        • @jackspratt:
Hmmm, wonder how one can 'unthink' something lol. Guess you meant non-thinking or devoid of cognitive capacity

        • @ozzpete: No - I meant unthinking, as defined in most good English dictionaries.

    • Much more discrete than those overpriced money belts and travel pouches that luggage stores sell if you're traveling overseas.

    • This seems like it's perfect for a clock-necklace

Wotta tool. (But slightly less of a tool that whoever buys whatever he sells.)

  • +2

    I think it's time…….to invest in a new safe

  • +3

perfect for those private crypto keys

    • I wonder how many bitcoins it holds?

      • +1

You'll need a bytes to grams converter but i'd estimate it around the max supply of bitcoin

  • +19

Safe to say it's about time these went on sale.

    • +1

      Cannot upvote this enough

      • +4

        Time-sensitive.

  • +1

Safe to say, this is not just a clock.

Just dont bring this to any school…

For a moment there I misread your post and thought it said that's not a cock.

Was thinking it was some sort of Crocodile Dundee cosplay on GrindR.

  • I assume it is lockable, right?

  • +4

I was thinking of buying a cheap second hand safe, filling it with fake jewellery and putting it in the wardrobe as a decoy safe for the robbers whilst the valuable stuff is hidden somewhere else

    • +1

All the valuable stuff is in the pawnshop

      • Absolutely. Gold & Silver Pawn shop to be accurate

  • Does it tick or is it silent?

  • +1

Now I have a great place to hide my valuable Eneloops

  • +1

this Xmas…don't do the crime if you can't do the time :/

  • Does it take Eneloops? Double win for an Ozbargainer

If you’re buying it as a present and it’s for someone Chinese, make sure they’re not superstitious because it’s bad luck to gift a clock.

    • Wow, really? How come?

Despite being a sceptic I am always interested in superstitions & cultural taboos.

      • the phrase "give clock" means sending someone away in a funeral..there you go

      • it symbolises their time is up….

        • so much for gifting a rolex as a grad present then …..maybe it will be sam distyaris’ leaving parliament present from his chinese benefactors …. he will think “ wow great present “ they will think he really doesn’t get it.

  • or you could just hide anywhere? why the hassle of a clock? Been hiding gold & diamond rings in my ice cream containers for years lol.

  • I should buy one for my parents, they are always late

    • How will clock help in changing their behavior?

  • These were the bane of my existence when I was younger. I lost track of the times I stayed over a friend's place only to get up and remove the batteries from a clock that looked like this as it always sounded like it was ticking right next to my head in a quiet room.

  • I am looking to expand my collection. Would this look good on an orange nato strap?

    • +1

      Good question for watchnerd.

  • Don't give this as a Christmas present to a Chinese, giving a clock as gift means wishing him to die soon LOL

    • That's what happens when your core beliefs are superficial….

    • Really ? Wtf
Where is a great bargain on some cheap clocks . I will head down to chinatown xmas day to research the validity of this claim

  • Reminds me of the ones in school, I used to look at it so much to know when to get the hell out of there at 3pm…never buying this!!!

    • Couldn't see ours, it was covered in spit balls.

    • +1

The teacher stashed his gold stars inside the clock safe

  • One time in class we wound the clock forward ~1.5 hours so we could get out earlier.

  • Love that the first thing mentioned as a feature is "Real working clock". Ha!

    • Dont know why people negged you … It would be a giveaway as safe perhaps, if your clock never worked and people might ask about it, or take it off the wall and try to fix it
