Benefits of bamboo bedding

With anti-microbial properties, bamboo is naturally resistant to dust mites and mould, keeping asthma and allergies at bay, while giving you a fresh, clean place to rest your head.

I am not convinced about the benefits of bamboo materials. It is really a rayon like material, synthetically made. Only incidentally related to bamboo!

Textiles labelled as being made from bamboo are are generally synthetic rayon made from cellulose extracted from bamboo.
    See; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bamboo_textile

    Also: http://organicclothing.blogs.com/my_weblog/2007/09/bamboo-fa…

    • You're not convinced, but does that mean it's bad? Have you ever personally used bamboo textiles?

      • No it doesn't mean its "bad".
OTOH bamboo implies a certain feeling to us - natural fibre (alla cotton), sustainable, etc.
However it is very far from a natural fibre. More like a polyester (rayon).

FWIW I've been using their 400TC bamboo quilt cover for the last two years and it feels so wonderfully soft and luxurious. Of course I'm a tight arse so no idea how it compares to actual organic bamboo.

  • My only experience with any kind of bamboo textiles are bamboo socks and MY GOD they are the best, most comfortable, breathable, multiple day-wearable socks I've EVER owned. May as well try some sheets out.

  • Price has increased now. Roughly doubled. :(
