          • It was Dashcamtalk best bang for buck dashcam for a long time.
          • I've bought 3 for friends & installed them about 2 years ago & still working fine.
          • It has a capacitor to shut it down instead of a battery.
          • No setting up with apps to get it to work, just insert a micro sd card - plug it in & it works.
          • This has been posted a lot on Ozbargain and not many negative comments.

          @WatchNerd:

For cheaper this is the best bang per buck now: https://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_375217.html

          And quote:
"A great upgrade from the G1W if you are looking for better build quality and a more discreet form factor."

        • @Unbreakable: Yes and you could message Sunny for a coupon code to post as a deal if you wanted.

  • Wow is the price going up, this is the most Ive seen it.

Purchased 1 in Nov. Bill shows A$29.72

    Decent price

    Rekt >> G1W-CB US $22.11 (~AU $28.85) 09/11/2017

    • That why I chose the word "decent" instead of "amazing". Still relatively cheap compared to what's available out there

Maybe the portion is too small!?

  • These clowns have cancelled my last two orders for no reason.

I think they wanted to see if they could break you .

I’ve made over 10 orders and no issues to date

        This guy ain't so shy

    • mine too when using paypal. i put through their credit portal and worked fine, is frustrating though

      • Yeah both of mine where paypal.

        • yep and they gave me some rubbish about how paypal cancelled it - when i spoke to paypal they said this wasn't true.

Anyways, i split order into smaller order to minimise risk and used normal payment portal and worked.

          @flangeflange:

Thank you, will be trying that!

Why wouldn't you buy this for basically the same price: https://www.gearbest.com/car-dvr/pp_375217.html

  • Not to be annoying, but that youtube video was made in 2014.
Surely by near 2018, you'd see something with better processors, larger batteries and higher quality cameras, right?

Phone cameras are crazy good now and not that expensive as an individual part.

    • It's an old model now, so when it's posted for $28.85 it's a good deal and does the job fine.

But as Unbreakable has pointed out - the new best bang for buck on Dashcamtalk is A118 for a similar price.

      • That does seem a decent model, a shame the GPS module isn't built in as default.

        • Why do you want GPS in a dashcam?

        • @WatchNerd: May be useful if you're trying to prove something about an accident or even speeding fines.

        • @hamwhisperer:

I'm guessing for a gps dashcam to be submissible as evidence it would have to comply with some regulations.

A standard dashcam has this evidence anyway. Speed equals time & distance travelled.

  • Finally received mine from this node https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/340758#comment Nearly a full two months after I ordered it - only to find the menu button doesn't work.

Has anyone had dealings with gearbest for returns or replacements?

I am thinking postage back will cost nearly as much as the item anyway.

The first one I bought seemed to be working O.K. then after running for a year, something interesting finally happened and that was when I discovered the loop function whilst appearing to be on, wasn't actually working. the card had just filled up and it had stopped recording.

I suckered up for a third one (gave one to a friend) because it generally had good reviews. Am I just unlucky or are they crap?

    • Yeah I got mine on Tuesday or Wednesday. Was beginning to think it was lost. I haven't installed it yet but I'm expecting to be disappointed according to the previous thread.

  • I bought two G1W-CBs from gearbest recently. Both have fuzzy images - number plates not readable until the other car is quite close. The blueskysea brand G1W-C I bought a few years ago was better - very clear number plate images. Seems to me either gearbest is buying from a low quality source or the more recent G1W-C(B)s are generally made from lower quality tech than earlier ones.
