410
AUkenshinWS09

I asked the GearBest rep for a deal on the Xiaomi smart wireless switch and he kindly obliged. Not sure how long the code has been active or how many are left so be quick!

Appears to be one per account

Edit (5/1): Code johneliot1978 expired, new code AUkenshinWS09 added (credit to MrEMC)

  • How smart can you go with these with or without home assistant?

I am still waiting for the kit to turn up so Im not sure of the capabilities.

Could I for example press this button then it turns on a Yeelight for 20 mins?
Press this button then it turns off a xiaomi zigbee outlet but only after 2 hours?

    Thanks

    • I want to know this too. Can it operate a normal light (e.g. a fluoro tube?) My mum has a disability so getting up to turn on the light is difficult. If I can put one switch on the table in front of her, it will help.

But then do I need to rewire the light switch to get this thing to be able to talk to it? I'm not much of a DIY guy unfortunately.

      • You would have to have a controller in there. Either replace the light switch with a xiaomi smart switch if hard wired, or if a lamp use the zigbee smart socket.

        • Hmm. Well, I'm used to Xiaomi plug and play devices. This is going to need some know-how that I'm ashamed to admit I don't have. I've never messed with light switches. I've never needed to.

        • @lostn: Smart socket may be the best avenue for you combined with a nice bright lamp. smart switch if you feel like getting an electrician to wire it for you. would not reccomend playing with this unless you knew what you were doing.

        • @chumlol: Thanks.

That's a shame. I liked the idea, but it's the first time a Xiaomi product has required an electrician for me to set it up.

That switch looks huge. Would it fit on a door frame?

And if my current switch is one of those boards that also includes a power outlet, would that need to be replaced with this switch that has no power outlet?

      • No you won't be able to control a normal fluoro. If you put had the gateway, one of these, and a yeelight bulb which is E27 (screw type) then I think you can do it.

        • Is Yeelight that RGB one? Colored lights are not for me. And I don't think it's bright enough for a living room.

        • @lostn: There are many yeelights some coloured and some not.

        • @No: My ceiling unfortunately can't accept screw on bulbs (and a Yeelight wouldn't be enough anyway. They seem designed for bedrooms). It's fluoro only. In every room except toilet and bathroom.

Plug in lamps are no good for a living room.

          I guess I'm out.

        • @lostn: Yep this won't work for you unless you replace light fittings.

        • @No: Not necessarily. I have used these before in situations where I couldn't get a b22 bulb, they seem to work fine: https://www.ebay.com.au/i/192281023472?chn=ps&var=4922132814…

        • @Tythefly86: Oh yeah I use those as well. lostn has fluros so I don't think there is an adapter available.

        • @No: No worries. I thought when he was talking 'fluro' he just meant cfl which is technically a fluro too but are widely available in b22 and e27 so I should have realized he probably meant a circular/bar type fitting lol.

Yes you can via the Mi Home app

  • I can get two only. Seems two per account.

    • i think some of these deals aren’t so much about getting you the number of items you want per order, it’s more about hopefully getting new customers on the mailing list or getting existing customers to visit if they haven’t done so in a while.

"The code you entered has expired"

  • I have tried to mess with Xiaomi smart devices and MiHome before but always have trouble connecting. Either I have to change my Wifi security to a lower level, or for some devices like my Philips light, even that doesn't work and I have to use mobile internet tethered with a phone as the router. Not practical.

    How do you guys connect?

    • Use Mainland China as the location. Any other location will have connectivity issues

      • Did that already. No help.

      • Or Singapore. I haven’t had any problems using the Singapore server.

  • Ugh had it in cart and it just expired!

I bought 3 using the code (1 item per order). Thanks OP. This is a good price and is better than the squarish aqara model (which doesn't support the long press condition).

  • deals over .. :(

  • Damm. I really wanted a few of these

  • I just bought one, the code worked but what checking out with PayPal, it charged me full price… Damn

    • Yeah! Happened to me recently too. It’s a bait and switch with these “limited numbers” GearBest deals. Mine was even quoted correctly on PayPal screen, but I was charged full amount somehow?! Nobody from PayPal or GearBest would agree to resolve it. (Chatting to GearBest support will send you slightly insane anyway) just a heads up for people.

  • Can you ask the rep for more please

  • sad face, missed out.

Wow - you have to be fast here, ozbargained in such a short time!

  • How many ozbarginers scored? 5?

    • There was over 200 clicks before it was expired, so who knows!

  • Do these require the xiaomi gateway thingy?

I wanted one but wasn't sure if it'll work with my lifx bulbs standalone.

    • Yes, they need the gateway.

      • Thanks and boo :(

  • Really the xiaomi party is very quick, missed again

  • +1

Wow, that was scarce. Any chance we could get some more, rep?

  • It's XMAS mate..few more 100 plz

  • Doh! I miss so many of theses because I work night shift. Bugger!
