My 4 year old Dyson recently lost suction and I disassemble it everything but could not figure out why. So I might need a new one.
Can anyone tell me how does this compare and it's longevity?
I have a golden retriever, and enough said.
Thanks in advance
I can vouch for the Miele bagged vacuum, not sure about these new bagless models but have had mine for years without issue.
Miele is a good brand anyway. I paid about $330 for mine and definitely worth it.
If it's lost suction then it's usually a blockage or filter.
Some models also have a safety valve to let in air so that the motor doesn't burn out.
I had DC54. I disassembled everything, including the cyclone and the ball, and could not find any issues. Any suggestions?
Thank you.
The most common place for them to block up is the narrow neck that comes out of the bottom of the machine and where the hose clicks on.
You'll have to pull it apart, which is simple, to make sure it's not blocked up with something.
@Scab:
Sadly, I did this as well. No luck.
I have one of the Miele bagged ones, but if you have carpet i can HIGHLY recommend the Miele Turbo Brush attachment. They are excellent for carpets
We went from a Dyson floor (ball) model to a Miele S8, which is a "bag" vacuum cleaner. After the first run with the Miele, the bag was full. And the other improvement - it just takes significantly less time to vacumm an area properly compared to the Dyson. And when you look at the Choice reviews - login needed - there are 4 Mieles (C3 x 3 and C1) on the recommended list, no Dysons. The 10 Dysons were well down the list, rating 77% (Big ball origin) down to 63% (DC54 Animal).
The best rated Miele was the C1 at 83% - also the cheapest :)
How often do you need to replace the bag? from what you said, it seems like a lot. I have a big hairy golden and do not want to replace bags every week.
Thanks.
We only have cats and we reused the bag by slicing the back end off it, emptying the bag and then stapling the bag back together again.
I followed the link and whilst it does provide a lot of information on the vacuum cleaner I couldn't find the information I was after. So does anyone here know how many medium sized cats I can vacuum up before I have to empty it? I'll estimate the dog capacity based on cats as dog size has more variety. Thanks in advance.
It depends on the breed of the cats. Some don't have hair and I think you will need an industrial size vacuum cleaner to get them all in :P
Most pussies I've seen have hair.
Some wax.
I've never seen them with that, is it like ear wax?
Not a really funny joke.
Small price typo, it's $669
