Just had my price tracker go off. ATL

Been looking awhile at this since black Friday. Couldn't pull the trigger. This one is now ATL now so grabbed one. One day prime deal.

Hopefully this corded steam deep cleans compared to my roborock s7maxV.

Been using the roborock with tile cleaner solution from bunnings. But on matte tiles need something stronger every once in awhile.

Supposedly best in class on vacuum wars, as corded beats non corded.

  • any try this on like laminate flooring?

    • +1

Yes, it works on laminate flooring.

      • Can you turn off the steam function if needed?

        • +3

By default, steam function is off already. You turn it on when needed. Takes about a minute to start steaming.

    • +2

I have the S7+ Steam (Basically the cordless version of this), works great on our Hybrid so should be the same. Recommendation is to NOT use the steam function though as the heat (and to a lesser extent moisture) can cause the adhesive to fail and the corners to lift.

Supposedly best in class on vacuum wars, as corded beats non corded.

Lol are you cleaning a mall? That's not what home vacuum sales trends say.

    • +4

Battery vacuums are convenient, but you can't draw 2000w from an 18v battery.

      • Lol then why did Tineco remove the option from the S6 onward (S7) and only have cordless?

        • +8

Because you can sell more vacuums when the battery dies in 2 years

        • important tip: a little added chemical will keep the waste water from going foul and you must clean (with Spray and Wipe) and allow to dry the waste water container, rollers and dirty bits after use.
Because the majority of the market is "cordless" like the stick vacuums etc.
So to be like the market, they have to offer a similar product.
I made a point of buying the S5 steam, because of the strong steam function, being available.
Generally, the Tineco are well designed. From a "chemical use" point of view, these type of cleaners can use plain water, with no chemicals.
I do like the use of cleaning chemicals and add a small amount to the water.
You can even just add vinegar to the water.

      • +1

Sure you can - just need to run a 100 amp + interface. Not the most practical, or easy to engineer regarding heat. But you certainly can do it, see Hilti Nuron powertools, they run 22v 100a setups for (up to) 2200w or basically a powerpoint.

        • Sure, you can get lots of amps if you wire enough batteries in parallel - but I was more talking about common packs of 18650's like every standard battery device.

        • -1

          Sure you can
          Implying ease and simplicity

          then

Not the most practical, or easy to engineer

Making the point of this post difficult to comprehend.

          🤦‍♂️

          • +2

@bboz: Saying you can, or cannot do something is binary. No implication of ease or simplicity.

A blanket statement saying you cannot do something, when there are literally products on the market that do, is factually false.

            • @SanguinarySeraph: Oh thanks for the hyper analysis but it doesn't change the contradiction.

            • @SanguinarySeraph: It's ok, I appreciate the pedantry. Jump starters can delivery 100A - but they're a specific use case.

  • Thanks OP. i'm in the same situation got the S7maxV and on my matte tiles it doesnt always cut the mustard.
I would love to hear your thoughts, but i might have to bite the bullet.

    • +1

yeah once i get it ill report back.

Just manual mopped my floor with sugar soap the other day. The tiles went from beige travertine back to OEM white. Just as good a using a gerni I reckon. ( I have inside/outside tiles)

I'm hoping this steam one cleans just as well.

  • +1

Anyone has any recommendation for cleaning solution on matte tile floors? This machine looks like a good purchase.

    • Looking for recommendation too, especially for robot vaccums

      • I am looking at this. Reviews indicate it could be used on robot vacuums too.

        https://www.amazon.com.au/Tineco-Floor-Cleaning-Solution-FLO…

        • According to Tineco's FAQ page for this product:

Q: Can we use cleaning solution on this product?
A: No, the steam is incompatible with any cleaning solution.

          • @Kibbelhs: I read that the steam function might create fumes from the cleaning solution which may not be good. However some have 'worked' around the issue by deactivating the steam function when using cleaning solution.

I'll just stick to what the manual says. There seems to be enough positive reviews using just water.

            • @Davesday: I've found that for some older stains, it ranges from takes a few passes to using elbow grease. So this machine isn't a be-all and end-all. It lacks the physical agitation you require, like a mop.

    • +1

Afaik, you're not supposed to use cleaning solutions with this machine. I only use water.

    • +2

This is a water only machine. I have this and the steam makes a big difference. If you do want to use something on a small area, you can spray it with a cleaner.

      • Not even Tineco's own cleaning solution that is marketed for its own products including the S5 series?

        • +1

Even tineco solution. It explicitly states only water, even on the actual machine

    • We have the Roborock Qrevo max something and put a cap full of Amonia in the clean water. It helps with Matt tiles. See if that helps? Otherwise the Tineco Floor solution is good.

  • Can these be used on engineered timber?

    • I'm using this on engineered timber floors. No issues so far.

    • Not recommended for engineered timber because the real wood layer can split (think J-shape from the other layer) due to wetting, heating, and disturbance. Core-tex and hybrid are ok.

Real hardwood timber is even better than engineered especially when you seal it properly because there's no splitting from the other layers.

      • Thanks for this explanation. Something to consider continued use.

    • Recommendation is to only use the steam function on tile or polished concrete, sans steam though, absolutely, works on timber, laminate, hybrid etc.

  • Corded despite being a bit better is definitely a huge inconvenience when spot cleaning

    • +2

I won't say you "can't" use this for spot cleaning, but there is a not insignificant self-cleaning cycle/process once you're done which definitely leans toward doing a full clean, or not at all.

  • I have one from last sale. I really like it. Large house mostly tiles
.I bought this one because of the steam function which i use mostly.

Often i shuffle along with a scourer under foot to get the bits that the mop doesn't.
The self cleaning function really works.
I'm interested to see how long the roller works seein as a spare is included

  • The description says its for 120v power in one of the pictures so be careful that it actually has an Australian plug and suits our 240v power.

    • It does.

  • +1

Bought this on prime day for $20 more. Happy with it so far. My personal method is to overlap and go at a reasonable pace and the previous karcher cordless couldn't do the full home in one go and only managed maybe 60-70sqm on one charge after about a year of use so I switched to this one.

Yes corded is less convenient but I personally found it more frustrating to have to recharge for a few hours to finish the job. The bonus with corded is that you get steam function if that matters to you but I personally don't care whether I use steam or use a cleaner additive.

  • -6

Just stick with dyson & bissell, all these other vacuums look good on paper but just dont match their quality in the real world.

    • Do you have any recommendations on which Bissel to get for both carpet and upholstery?

      • +1

Everyones home is different, depending on if you wear shoes in the house, how many kids/pets you have etc.

I have wooden floorboards and use the "bissell powerfresh steam mop" and it works great. I watched a few reviews and the it works better than the other mops that have the spinning/rotating mop heads.

I also have 2 cats who occasionally throw up on the floor boards, occasionally on the carpeted areas. So for this i bought the carpet washing/steam cleaner vacuums. The one i bought came with a hand held attachment if you wanted to do your couch/car. Its crazy loud but i would say its even better than those rental units you get from coles/bunnings.

Dunno how to do short url links, but see examples below:

        steam mop:
        https://www.harveynorman.com.au/bissell-powerfresh-sanitiser…

        carpet cleaner:
        https://www.harveynorman.com.au/bissell-proheat-2x-revolutio…

Even though i vacuum very regurarly with both a robot vacuum and dyson stick vacuume, when i use the bissell carpet cleaner, its crazy how much dust/hair it pulls out from my carpets. I dont wear shoes in the house either.

        • Thanks. Our son gets allergies to dust mites, so we need to regularly get all the carpets and upholstery cleaned and I was looking at which one system I should get.

          • @macrocephalic: Definitely get the bissell. Being ozbargain most users here will only purchase whats cheap and not pay extra for something that actually works well, hence people negging my post.

            • +1

@SuperMid: I think you’re being negged because you’re speaking from your experience only. Which is valid, but there are just as many horror stories and issues with both of those brands you have mentioned. It’s not a reason to write off the Tineco. In fact these machines are their speciality.

EDIT: As seen in the comments below.

    • Whilst their spot cleaners are great the bissell steam mop left our floors streaky. Maybe more suited to smaller houses.

    • I don't know. I have the dyson submarine and it is useless (the vac function is great though). After using it a few times I switched back to manual mopping. Got this Tineco model in the boxing day sales a couple of weeks ago and it is great. Can't comment on the longevity of it yet but the floors are spotless after using it.

    • The Dyson equivalent WashG1 is notoriously terrible. Plenty of 1st gen issues where they just haven't been in the market long enough. Give it a few years and I'm sure the Dyson will be competitive, but right now, not even close with the Tineco.

  • +1

I’ve got this. The cord is slightly annoying but it cleans really well just using water especially on tiles using steam. 2 little kids and a dog so roborock s7 alone is not able to keep floors clean. I don’t use full steam on my timber (jarrah) floors really. The edge of the mop leaves about a 2cm gap. It means you have to manually clean along the walls everywhere if you want the floors perfect… I wonder if this is fixed in the newer cordless models? This aside, great product.

  • +1

Got this one from the last deal - can also highly recommend.

Easy to use, cleans very well (I'm using on hybrid flooring and works great), cord is pretty long and self cleaning cycle at the end works well.

The only thing to keep in mind that it is pretty heavy.

  • Shit! Bought it for $409 for Black Friday! Got ripped off 2¢! It's a very good product though. Even used it on the balcony with to nearby tap or drainage. Sucks up all the soapy water I used for initial scrubbing.

  • Had this before, it's pretty good but tried my friend's Dreame H12 Pro and it's so much better.

    • Yeah deciding between the two - what part of the Dreame is better?

      • Water in tank lasts much much longer without compromising the cleaning performance + Mop is closer to the floor so cleans better + Plus auto dries the mop. For almost same price, I'd pick Dreame anyday.

      • Dreame H12 Pro for just $99 more is definitely better than the Tineco S5. Dreame H12 Pro has double-edge cleaning, which is something found on the Tineco S6 onwards, and has less clearance requirement (found on the S6 Stretch). Essentially, Dreame H12 Pro feels like an S6 Stretch for almost the price of a Tineco S5.

        • +1

Its not directly comparable as the Tineco can steam but Dreame doesn't.

Tineco doesn't require consumables but dreame will require ongoing consumables for the cleaning solution.

          • @cmoddoo: What consumables?

            • @marshmall0w2: Cleaning solution

              • -1

@cmoddoo: Bruh the Tineco one requires cleaning solution. They literally sell them themselves.

                • +1

@marshmall0w2: Not S5 steam, its the only product of theirs that doesn't require it

                  • +2

@cmoddoo: I mean the cleaning solution is optional for the S6 and H12 Pro anyway. You can just put water or vinegar. It's just for added cutting power.

  • Is this OK for carpet cleaning?

    • No, not meant for carpets

  • How does this compare to the Bissell CrossWave HydroSteam? Was about to pull the trigger, $422 at TGG Commercial.

  • Steam mop not good for polished concrete? Perhaps I should just go for a mopping one (no steam)

  • I have the s7 steam and it's been fantastic. For me it was worth it for the convenience as I have a lot of tiles in my house.

    • How long does the battery last and how long have you had the S7?

      • +1

Probably around 15 minutes on steam plus mode..which is enough to do my whole house.

        • Thanks, have you owned this for more than 12 months +?

  • +2

I would steer clear from tinieco.

i bought thier mop, vacuum. and when godfreys went into administration they washed their hands of helping anyone with their products because we they were imported products. even though products were still in warranty range.

    • Could you not return to amazon or get a replacement if something goes wrong? Or is it different due to being sold by Tineco AU despite being on Amazon? I am not too familiar with how that works exactly

      • +3

You cannot return a product to a store or company you haven't bought from.

      • i dont know how it would work with amazon
but mostly what im saying is dont expect good things from this company.

    • I got extra parts from Aliexpress, cheaper than on Amzon. Really easy.

Tineco Australia may offer you service still…their company still bagged profit at the end of the day.

I suggest you call or email the Australian website.
      https://au.tineco.com/support/ProductCare
      You may be surprised.
Don't throw out the sales docket or hope.

  • Ia this is the vacuum that sends back data to China?

    • +1

Your browser just did to USA. It boils down to who is giving you a better deal!

    • +1

That'd be pretty much any of the robot vacuums.

Bit difficult for this one to send any data when it doesn't have any wi-fi connectivity.

    • This one doesn't need to be connected to the wifi

    • Yup. It's going straight to the dirt file they're keeping on you.

  • Bought this 19 months ago, can confirm it's a good product. Easy to use, easy to service. It really helped out to keep my timber floor clean by making mopping a fairly easy job. I had hesitations between corded and cordless, and ended up choosing the corded one. Reason? I'm an FPV hobbyist and I use high discharge Lipos on a daily basis. I know how high-current discharge damages the battery. Speaking of which, the built-in steam function works pretty nicely.

    • Have you had any issue? Mine seem to have developed electrical issue after 13 months

      • Nope. Never had any kind of issues with it. What's the electric issue you had? Something stopped functioning?

        • Trips the circuit breaker every time its turned on. Happened after 13 months mark.

Previously happens once in a while.

No other appliance in my house does that.

          • +1

@cmoddoo: I'm not a pro but sounds like somewhere short circuited inside the machine. Better stop using and get someone experienced have a look at it.

            • +1

@WayneOZ: Yes I think you are right I'm thinking the cable wiring are either poorly insulated or damaged over time or water has somehow went into where it aren't suppose to.

  • Does anyone know how would it perform on high gloss tiles?

    • +1

Works really well with high gloss. We have the s7 steam and its incredible. We run it on steam mode and then wipe away any excess water with a cloth after, takes a while to get used to the excess steam.
