Ok, from someone who has had owned the DC44 and DC59 and currently have a V6 and V8, please do not waste your money and buy the DC44 - its underpowered, has a short battery life, and to be honest even at $299 you are paying for the Dyson name only. If your budget allows, save and get the V6 (at least) and if possible the v8 when there's a deal on - these both do a way better job on hard floors and carpets. If budget doesn't allow, look for something else. Don't believe me? Buy one at Aldi and try thanks to their 60 day returns policy.

    • Any one able to recommend the something else?

Dyson DC59 and up is all that you need

Crazy this is not a deal. Just clearing old models. I paid $400 for a V6 animal 2 years ago.

    • Exactly, all this hype with ALDIs Dyson DC44 Cordless Vacuum at $299. No bargain here.

The DC44 model was originally released in 2012. It has an old "V2" motor. New Dyson models have "V6" and "V8" motors.

The newer Dyson V6 has been $299 in the recent past months at Target, Big W and Good Guys.

A few months ago, the Dyson DC35 Cordless Vacuum, released in 2011, was down to $199 at Big W and Dyson ebay store.

Further, Dyson's "CareLine" is not great either. Had some really terrible experiences with trying to get help from Dyson about a faulty unit.

V6 slim goes for under 300 often. Why bother this.

    • +1

Because this has a mini motorised head for pet fur.

    • Because this has a motorised floor tool with carbon fibre filaments to clean hard floors and carpet; AND
a mini motorised tool for cleaning carpet and upholstery.

    • Exactly @Jamesx

  • Would this be Australian stock - i.e. Dyson won't provide support for overseas stock.

Even worse news papers are covering this deal!

Even better, people fight for this and leave the good deals for ozbargainers

      • LMAO Fools

    • I bet Aldi pay the papers to write about the "hype". My mum went to Aldi this morning to do her normal shopping and noticed there were still stacks of them.

      • There were stories few days ago of unhappy customers who didn't get any

Stock is a couple of years old.

    • Warranty is also a couple of years.

    • DC44 was release in 2012. Very old stock. Dyson seems to be offloading all their old stock in recent months.

  • All this hype with ALDIs Dyson DC44 Cordless Vacuum at $299. THIS IS NOT SUCH A BARGAIN.

I think quite a few people wasted their Saturday morning on this non bargain. Smh totally inexperience bargain hunters

  • Suckers. Not the dc44 though.

  • So, News Corp hypes up a bad deal, causing scenes at Aldi, and then criticises the people involved..

    • Like rats lured by the pied piper.

  • Haha love this!

Public flocking like mad for it and the greatest bargain site on the internet saying it's an awful deal.

Reminds me of people desperate at Boxing day sales and people telling you how they love bargains and eye out specials and then you hear about the latest deal they found from a catalogue and it isn't cheap at all.
