    Finally below the magical $100

    • Yeh!

    • 5 Other stores have been below that for a while… on a daily basis too. Not just once-off.

  • NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO im in melbourne for work will miss out! :(

    • There are MSY's in Melbourne as well aren't there?

    • Didn't MSY start in Melbourne… And wouldn't it take a 2sec visit to their site, to find their nearest store. Making 'daydream' do your googling for you… Pfft.

      • MSY started out of the orignal shop in Malvern (Victoria).

I used to go there when it was just the one store, stacked to the roof with CRT-screens!

We'd get the price list about once-a-fortnight, transcribed by a bloke on the internet, as MSY didn't have a website!

  • Well in case they are out of stock, they also have Seagate 2tb for 99 (regular price)

    • Normal price $99 serious? Wow need to head to MSY after my exams then.

  • Yay, I've been waiting for a drop in prices well below $100 nice =P

    Time to buy two!

  • Was going to post this up, i just snatched one up although didn't get any indication of how much stock was remaining

    • were they the f3eg model or f4eg?

  • Don't really need it but tempted as they're nearby… I guess one can never have too much HD storage space…

    • you can … if it becomes a large investment in old slow technology …

That said … I've been holding off on getting more storage for a while … this looks very nice :)

(But I'm not heading out to any MSY locations today :S)

  • awesome price for 2TB's wow

The seagates are listed at $99 and WD $105 so there are options if they run out of stock. MSY are notorious for not having stock tho!

If you want to check stock you could try their online site which supposedly accurately reflects stock levels.

    http://www.msy.com.au/SelectBranch.aspx#

    • No-No-No… Even their own staff begrudingly have to constantly remind, the stock levels are NOT up to date. Best they'll advise, 2hr "live". You can see the frustration on their faces, probably being abused from the previous 100 customers that day for the same thing. Phones hardly EVER get answered either, so the only real way is to be in-store unfortunately.

      • Just keep ringing, you'll annoy one of them into answering eventually

Anyone know if these are F3 or F4s?

  • Thanks Mate.

  • Hope they still have some at Auburn…

Damn just bought WD 2TB from them yesterday. Anyway never like Samsung.

Just a quick story. Went into the Pascoe Vale branch the other day and I was the only one in store. I've experience it a bit at North Melbourne, but normally the line at Pascoe Vale goes out the door.

Needless to say it was a nice experience.

Samsung 2TB http://www.arc.com.au/pub.php?gid=23419&pid=39587&p=product $4 more as a normal non sale price!

    • $97.61 price is only if you spend $300 otherwise its $100.49

      • you say that like its a MASSIVE jump in price.. only $2.88c

  • Yay, bagged one without leaving my desk.

    • You work at MSY?

      • Have a mate who works close to MSY

What's the big deal with a $5 saving and a complementary gift of standing in a line for half an hour?

    • +2

Yep what i was thinking! … u can also price match at most pc stores that 5 bux :)

    • -2

I went and picked one up at Clayton at around 5.30~
There was only one other person in line, and I waited maybe 2 minutes.

Either way, $94 is a great deal and that's what Ozbargain's all about :)

  • $5? Isn't that what 3.5s drop every 10 days?

not buying this ancient tech anymore, manufacturers need to get there ass into gear and only make SSD drives

    • +4

And then we can all run out of storage after installing the OS, some music, a game or two and maybe if you're lucky a movie of some kind and have enough change to be in debt
Easier said then done. The mass market only requires the speed and especially the storage space of a conventional HDD. There is no incentive for manufactures to switch to a completely different technology that's expensive to set up while they have a market that readily buys the current produce offered. Not to mention SSD will mean that WD and Seagate having to start from scratch with their R'n'D. Samsung are a little luckier, but other than that you'll see the people who produce our RAM stepping up to the SSD game.

    • +1

when SSD drops in price, so will standard HDDs, the market will speak for themselves thank you.

    • +3

they already are getting their ass into gear, just look at how many companies are manufacturing ssd's in the first place, way more compettitors than in the hdd market, therefore it'll advance much faster, still, HDD's are great.

      • Think about who are making your ram and usb memory sticks atm.
They will be the ones that will be stepping up to the SSD plate, since they're the one with experience with this sort of tech. But think deep down there might be a lot of RAM makers out there but they all source their chips from a handful of places with Samsung being one of the bigger manufacturers, not to mention that the PCB is from only about 3 different contenders atm. It's the same with LCD TV's how there's only about 5 manufacturers of panels, but a billion companies that "make" LCD TVs.

  • Picked up mine, yay!

  • I'm surprised anyone has got these from MSY. They seem to be always out of stock of HDD's when they are they right price. Always offer the higher priced ones!

    • I was at North Melbourne around 3. They had maybe 6-7 at the back from what I could see…

  • I bought one. I needed another hdd and I like saving money even if it is just a few dollars.

  • What would be the best 1tb (internal) drive to get from MSY atm? WD, Seagate or Samsung?
