$15 Cashback on Vodafone Prepaid 20GB $25 Mobile Data SIM (180 Day Expiry) @ Cashrewards

2940

Note 10:45am Wed Dec 6:

Hi all. We've just sent this email to our members as we weren't able to resolve the issue satisfactorily with Vodafone. All I can do at this stage is apologise, but please send us the details as requested and the customer service team will take care of it. Vodafone will be back on Cashrewards as soon as tracking is sorted at their end. Thanks again for understanding :)

Note 3:50pm Sat Dec 2:

Hi all. Cashrewards has paused the Vodafone program temporarily as Vodafone has identified an issue with their sales reporting into their affiliate partner network. Rest assured your transactions will be credited as soon as this is resolved, hopefully very early this week. As soon as this happens, we’ll reactivate Vodafone and the offer will continue to be available. Thanks for your patience & understanding.

This deal is doing so well that it needed a strong cashback offer to compliment it, so here's a ripper. Vodafone has this prepaid SIM at half price with double data on top. The cashback is the sweetener. The main link is to all the Vodafone cashback offers, and the link below is specifically for the deal. In order to receive the cashback, there's a requirement for the SIM to remain active for 90 days after activation. There's no reason to cancel it early as it has a 180 expiry. Limited to one per customer. Offer ends Dec 27, unless withdrawn early. Enjoy :)

  • Seems the link is broken?

    edit: works now

  • Thanks

  • $10 for 10GB to use across 180 days. Nice! Great for a family trip over the summer holidays.

    • +3

      You mean 20GB?

      • +1

        Even better!!

    • Actually 20GB

    • +1

Unless you take your holidays in a built up area there's a good chance Vodafone won't work well in holiday type areas.

      • +2

Check the coverage map. They've got great coverage on the Mornington Peninsula where I'll be heading.

        • Different race-cars for different racetracks I guess; glad you're covered. Vodafone is still crappy most places I bother to check. My home (Sydney burbs) is in a sketchy zone and won't work unless I'm at particular windows.

  • +1

does this sim give the capability of receiving calls and text messages?

    • +1

      No
      According to the other deal

    • +2

I have a Vodafone Prepaid Broadband SIM and it does receive calls and text messages.

    • +2

Like itsfree, i have vodafone prepaid mobile broadband sim in my phone. It receives phone calls and texts

  • When does double the data just become normal amounts of data?

    • +3

      When you use 10GB

  • Nice!

  • Pay $50 after 180 day expiry?

    • +1

it's prepaid, you can turn off auto recharge

      • Ok. Thank you.

    1. Purchase deal with cashback offer.
    2. Use Sim for like 2 days
    3. Claim on Vodafone Network Guarantee
    4. Profit $15?
    • No Vodafone garanutee on prepaid

    • +2

LOL, I can't believe I got 3 negatives for that post.

I guess I should have made it clear it was a joke.

      • Nah just the bots handing out negs. No sense of humour.

      • wouldn't be a good one.
"Data SIM must remain active for a minimum of 90 days."

  • is it pre-activated? or what is the last day for activation? need it later in December.

    • +1

Activate it now, you have 180 days of use.

  • Bargain. Purchased. Nice cheap when needed.

  • Holy crap that's good :-)
    Ta TA.

  • During the checkout process, they ask for Home Address:
"We'll use your home address to do a credit check because it's associated with your ID."
Do they really do credit checks for prepaid services? Then I'll pass for this offer (I only 'waste' credit checks on credit cards with decent bonus offers).

    • Could you elaborate on what you mean by'wasting' credit checks? I just purchased this and I'm interested to know what you mean

      • +4

Pretty sure every credit check you do reduces your credit score

        • I'm pretty sure that is not the case.

        • +3

@MrTweek: It does mate. More the credit checks of certain kind, especially non-secured ones, credit score takes a hit. My career has been in financial services, studied this in detail for a living…

        • @aaruu:
And what certain kind is that?
I check my credit rating regularly and have never seen any effect from checking itself.

Only things like having a credit card granted seem to have a (slight) effect on my score. And even that gets reverted after a few months (possibly when I cancel the card?)

        • @aaruu: any experience with credit checks for prepaid services? Since prepaid is not related to credit in any way, it seems odd to me that carriers would perform a credit check.

        • +1

@MrTweek: there’s a difference between an official credit check and you ‘checking’ your credit score yourself. I don’t think anyone said that checking your own score would have a negative effect. That would be silly. The question here is what sort of checks businesses perform before they take on a new customer and whether even a simple application for a prepaid service would go through the process of a credit check (which would be rediculous IMO since it’s not a request for credit).

        • @MrTweek: From certain kind means e.g. multiple credit card apps in short intervals which reflect a person's need for credit/ borrowing (at times reflects desperation). That person becomes risky to lend more due to potential failure to repay (sadly not all have good fin. mgt).

Checking your own score or credit file has no impact whatsoever mate. I get a monthly email with my credit score from consumer credit reporting agency and quarterly credit files, that's very much encouraged & has no impact.

        • @bozbargain: Honestly, credit checks for prepaid SIM only service doesn't make sense. I don't see much risk there. Unless a mobile handset is involved. Could be a standard disclaimer too from legal perspective. Whether they actually perform the check could be dependent on their internal business rules when they profile a particular customer.

        • @aaruu:

there’s a difference between an official credit check and you ‘checking’ your credit score yourself.

Yes, sorry that was a bit unclear from me. I meant "official" credit checks don't necessarily have an impact. Approved credit cards do (this shows up as "revolving credit" on the credit report).

From certain kind means e.g. multiple credit card apps in short intervals

Which is entirely different from getting a prepaid sim I would assume?

        • @aaruu:

bit off-topic, how about if you want to refinance your home loans and for some reasons you get rejected, not because you can't service the loan but the bank has reached its 'cap'? would that impact your credit score?

        • @OzFrugie: Regardless of the outcome of the borrowing application, if a credit check happens, the entry on the credit file has the downward impact on the credit score. E.g. I applied for extra borrowing on my existing home loan, decided later to withdraw my app, but the credit file entry still got counted, shall remain for 5 years & impacted my credit score.

However, more so in mortgage cases, if you haven't gone ahead with a particular borrowing, one can explain to another lender that they didn't proceed with the previous lending app & that's usually factored in your favour. Honesty gets valued.

With more & more financial institutions sharing credit data with each other, our credit system becoming more like USA, won't be long where every applicant would get a tailored interest rate as per their past profile & credit scores.

    • +7

Probably a generic message for all sign ups and they perform a credit check for contracts.

  • Can this be used with a dual sim adapter in an iPhone to provide data while the other sim provides calls?

    • Do you have to manually switch between SIMs to make or accept phone calls?

    • +1

with a dual sim phone, yes it's possible

  • Great deal thanks OP! Is it possible to use this sim overseas? What are the charges overseas for this sim?

    • +1

Want to know as well, Vodafone has better roaming arrangement in NZ.

      • +2

Going to nz in dec, curious to see if it can be used in nz.

  • Hey TA, big upvote for always looking after the OzB community! :) Just a question - presumably the data sim requires activation, are there any rules to when the sim needs to be activated by to qualify for the cashback post purchase?

    • +9

Hi there. Must be activated before deal expiry (Dec 27).

      • Cheers mate

  • About to checkout, but my Cashrewards Chome extension is not green??
Clicked through from the CR site….Just checking?

    • I too would like to know my status where I clicked through the CashReward site before the transaction, but somehow I am doubtful it registered my clicks. Wonder what the go about this? tightarse would you like to chime in? Thanks.

      • Same, but cashrewards website does registered my click.

        • it registered my click. but it has been 10 hours since the purchase, i still have not received the email saying the sale has been recorded.

  • deleted

  • got 1 thanks

  • Why it gave me package offer 1, 2, 3?

    EDIT: I added a few times :o

  • The first time to use cashrewards. I clicked the link to order and completed. How to know whether it is successful with cashrewards or not?

    • Usually takes around 2 days from the date of your purchase.. But If it is not tracked, contact support / TA, he will go the extra mile to resolve the issues

    • —EDITED— Will wait 2 days to see if have any rewards…

      • Thanks, how to use the credit?

        • Just like any other money you have.

  • +3

    Gadammit!!! already bought

    • Buy another one:)

  • +2

    Thanks!
I posted the original deal, but hadn’t yet purchased as I’ve had a hugely busy day! Lucky that as I just saw this before I went to purchase! Awesome!

  • -2

Dont fully understand, is it $20 for 20GB permanently? or is it only for the next month, then the price rises back to $50 p/m.
    Thanks

    • +2

You get 20gb of data. The data will last for 180 days. Good if you need flexible data - some months none, others more for traveling.

    • $25 until 27 dec then $50 per recharge.

  • TA , whats this
"Data SIM must remain active for a minimum of 90 days."

does it mean I have go online with this min 90 days?

    • Means you'd need to recharge it within 90 days of the charge expiring.. pretty standard term.

  • +7

Bugger, I already bought it this morning with no cashrewards.
Now I know what it feels like to be an ordinary shopper.

    • +1

      Can't agree more

  • Ordered, thanks TA. Just one thing, the cashback notifier doesn't work for Vodafone site, but cashrewards website registered my click. Now have to wait for the cashrewards email.

  • So, there 3 things i need people to clear them up or i want to know

    1. For the cashback, after activation, even though i don't use the card, i should still be able to receive the $15 back?

    2. There are 20GB to use within 180 days? Because i am confused when the Vodafone online sales rep told me it's just for the first month.

    3. Once i use up 20GB data before 180 days or after 180 days i need to recharge, can i use those vodafone half price sim card to recharge (the ones that are sometimes 50%OFF in Coles or Woolies)

      1. Yes, you paid $25 for the service, doesn't matter you use or not use. But you have to activate the sim.
      2. 20GB data to use within 180 days, Rep doesn't know what he/she was talking about. Vodafone website has clear information. There is another $40 half price combo data deal ($20 for 12.5GB) which is 35 days expiry.
      3. Yes, it's prepaid service and you can recharge.
      • oh no man, 3 nooooo you can't use the hafl price sim card to recharge, no network carriers allows you to do this but you can sometimes buy recharge vouchers for a maximum of 20% off

        • Technically he can, port out and port in again.

          Another way of recharge.

        • @John Kelvin: Yes, that's the way to do it. The old data cannot roll over anyway, so doesn't matter whether you want to recharge or simply activate new number.

        • @hihi:Telstra used to do it easily if you know what I am talking about.

        • @vhfyagi: yes i know. I used to C2m to a data sim and had about 200 gb or something

      • +1

Point # 1 is incorrect. You had to buy it. Doesn't matter if you activate or use it or not. Cashrewards tracks and care for the sale, not activation.

    • +1

Please note, its a data sim, no voice included

  • Wow a even nicer deal now.

  • How long before the purchase registers on CR?

  • Why does CR don't show the green "cashback is active" sign for some websites? How do we know if it's being tracked if there is no sign?

    • Cashrewards tracks your every click. You can always contact cashrewards for a particular click with a missing tracking after 7 days, just fill a form and attach the receipt from Vodafone.

  • +1

Nice! Can you port a number?

    • +1

      yes you can

    • +2

Not much point with a data SIM.

      • Ah! Got it, for tablets or laptops.

        • Or mobile Wi-Fi hotspot devices & phones used for internet access only (I'm using that now). Just can't be used for calls. So porting to keep phone number is pretty useless.

  • Hi TA,
even thought it's limited to one per customer, can we get multi customers through the same CR account? Cause a family member doesn't have CR.

  • can this be used to roam to new zealand?

  • +3

Thanks TA. I went to the link but no cashrewards email yet. Hope it pulls through.

  • +3

Bought via cashreward but have not received any email notification about it, unlike previous experience with Cashreward.

  • +2

thx. waiting for the cashrewards email now.

    • Same

  • Want to be sure the mobile number I provided is only for notification, right?
