I don't believe it's geniune xiaomi, I saw this product and it had an FAQ saying it wasn't actually xiaomi, but now has been removed, beware if you're looking for a geniune fan..

    • Hmmmmm gearbest don't sell fakes though.

      • This is 3rd party, looks like…

        • +1

And who do you think makes the same item with Xiaomi written on it?

        • @Diji1: Sorry, I don't follow.
What I meant to say is that this item is not sold by Gearbest, but through the Gearbest website. As such, it could be fake. Gearbest themselves do not sell fakes, but 3rd parties might.

    • +1

Use paypal, get a refund if not genuine.

    • +3

The RRP on these is suspiciously low, and I'm pretty sure genuine produce comes in only blue and white.

  • +2

genuine one says "original xiaomi" in title This one doesn't look good quality USB fan. I will pass this one.

    • The real question is, how do you get your laptop back once its started to fly off ?

      • -1

get one of this, so you can control it.

  • XiaoMi ??? gearbest does not type Xiaomi like that.

  • +4

It is FAKE. I just checked mine and it has the Xiaomi logo in the area just above the USB connector, on the same side as shown in the item's main photo. This does not have the logo and the photos in the description area are low-res and look 'blurry' - not of the typical Xiaomi marketing style.

OP you need to remove the "Xiaomi" brand from post title, please.

    • If you actually look at the photos 1 white photo has logo as mentioned, all blue photos do not. So not really a valid measure as Xiaomi are inconsistent in their own manufacturing.

Got one will try it. No one will steal it.

    • Worth mentioning there are 2 versions of the Xiaomi fan. The original has the Mi logo and the 2nd version has the Mijia logo.

  • Phew I was gonna buy this fourth fan just because it’s a different Color

Thanks for telling me it’s not Xiaomi 😂

    • Are the originals good?

      • they work fine

  • But it serves the purpose, right? Whats the difference btw this and original except being fake?

    • +1

I've got a fake and and had a genuine one. The fake is louder, not because the motor is louder, but because the fan blades are on more of an angle, thus pumping 2-3 times more air than the genuine one. Not necessarily a bad thing. My fake recently died, although after quite a bit of use.

    • +1

I've had a half dozen fakes before and the motor died after a few uses on 3 of them.

The fan blades doesn't hold onto the motor shaft properly so the motor would turn while the fan will wobble out of place.

My original I also own is still running strong after 2 years of regular use (indoor, outodoor, overnight.. etc).

Not saying I won't touch a non xiaomi fan again, just buy and think of your delivery as a potential useless toy similar to kindersurprise.

    • +1

I think I have a fake (although I thought it was original up 'til yesterday)
Turned it on for the first time, after a while it started slowing down until it completely stopped. Think the motor overheated, it was pretty warm and it won't turn back on, even now.

    • I thought the same. So bought a "fake" off eBay, which said it was Xiaomi. As it was only a dollar, I was curious.

As others said, it is much louder, nowhere near as good.

It is going into my daughter's Christmas stocking :)

This deal still works just the qty must be 1 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/343921

    • Thanks!

    • Yep purchased one this morning (30 Nov @8am) for $1.31

    • are they genuine or also fake?

  • +2

Hmm… Genuine or not, I'm not quite sure if I want to buy these cheapies anymore. They just keep on breaking down. My previous one broke halfway through its first morning. God knows how many more I'll chew through this summer…

Would be great if you guys can recommend something similar but with better build quality.

    • My previous Xiaomi one ran for 1 year. I have tried other fans but I need a small one that does not move quite a lot of air. I am putting it at a distance and sleeping with it always on. So if I can get 1 year from this one I will be ok.

  • First time see this fan still in stock after so many hours…

  • +2

"Detachable" eh. Whatever will they think of next…

  • I received my first little Xiaomi fan the other day. Pretty cool…

  • -3

    Price gone up

    • Price unchanged. With code brings price down to 1.10 delivered. Make sure you select free shipping option.

      • You're right.

    • +5

Even if the price has changed (which it hasn't), you report the deal as 'Expired', not neg it because you're butthurt on missing out.

Sales like these have a limited quantity for the discounted price, so there will eventually be a time where the code won't work, which means the deal has expired.

      • -1

First, I did buy one successfully. So I didn't miss out, not sure what's the matter with stuhtb. It's worth noting unhelpful and rude posts like yours gets 5 pluses. I can see we have some quality ozbargainers here. lol

I admit I made a mistake and didn't correct it after I've made the purchase successfully. (and now I'm not allowed to correct it) I attempted to purchase multiple ones, but the numbers didn't seem to add up and after a lot of juggling, I finally settled with only buying 1, it worked. Happy guys?

Lastly, this isn't even that great of a deal in hindsight given its not the xiaomi fan (i stupidly assumed it was). I ended up given the ones post after this deal as well.

  • +5

Will be Winter by the time you get it.

    • Lol

  • thanks ordered one

    • Not a good idea.

  • Well they should not support selling a fake one.

  • +2

I'm running out of USB ports to stick these in

  • Dammit. Ordered. Now submitting request to cancel. Blah.

  • FAKE!

  • +1

Sorry OP, negging to draw attention to people that it is not genuine Xiaomi

  • Fake Xiaomi fans will have a rough plastic surface + are much louder.

  • +1

If I plug 4 of these into one of those square 4 port USB hubs, can I make a quadcopter drone?

  • +1

The real xiaomi was only 99c on an earlier deal. Very quiet and draws less than 1 watt, but enough to cool the face on a hot day.
Will take it camping with a powerbank.

  • +1

I've had 2 fakes over the time.
They are slightly louder than genuine ones. Also both fakes burnt out after about a month.

Genuine ones have the logo near USB port on one side.

  • Genuine one only forUSD $0.59 fake one sell for 0.84?

    • Corz there are stuhtb and friends who thinks this is a killer deal.

  • +1

Hi all, I contacted GearBest and they confirmed that it's NOT an Genuine Original XiaoMi. That aside it would be fine for occasional use.

I use XiaoMi Fans in my beer fermentation setup where they will run continuously for weeks, and the genuine fans will generally last for around 1-2 months where the fakes will last around a week and a half.

  • +1

Gearbest should refunds the money for misleading the consumer.

  • Great news, Gearbest had emailed me that they are reshipping a proper item. Thank you Gearbest.
