So you must spend $95 for $200 value.

    • +9

Thanks. Gotta say, this is one of the more complicated/confusing deals I've seen.

For anyone else just as confused:

      1. Pay $5 for $100 coupon. (Coupon originally priced at $10, get 50% off with code, pay $5).

      2. Buy (minimum) $190 worth of stuff, use coupon for $100off. (pay minimum $90).

      3. ????

      4. Profit…?

Seriously though, total amount paid: $95. Total (min.) amount received: $190.

  • thanks

  • +3

So, add $190 into your cart, use coupon and pay $90?

    Sorry, i'm slow today.

Discount only applies to the first coupon. Not all 3.

  • I think you might have to spend $190 so the wine order needs to be >$290 could wrong though

    • no min spend is $190 you get $100 off that if you buy the code for $5.

      • Can confirm, did this with the ~$200 scotch + 10 reds deal, only paid ~$100

  • +10

I have no idea what this deal is. How does it work? How much must you spend and what do you get for it?!?

    • +3

      Pay $5 for voucher code.

Choose something over $190 inc postage. Eg. $207.50

Enter code. Pay $100 less than that amount ($107.50)

Most are fake brands, so the savings are arbitrary.

      • Thank you for the explanation!

        • +2

          No worries.

If you regularly drink champagne you can get great savings. If you are new to wine just buy a bottle and drink it. Experiment.

Don't buy cases of wine until you know what you like. Don't buy wine just because it looks cheap, especially in large quantities.

hard to know the geniuine dollar value of products as some @ cellarmasters are inflated. Great deal though @OP :)

    • For example? Most of the stuff i know is inflated above dan murphys by maybe $1 or $2 a bottle or the same price. Interested to know what on their website is inflated more than that.

      • perhaps F-F means the actual value of the majority of items on cellarmasters, given a lot of these wines are woolworths-owned and aren't available for purchase outside of Cellarmasters/BWS/Dan Murphys (and a number not even outside cellarmasters). For other brands (e.g. Wynns, Saltram etc), you can compare across true competitors - eg First Choice/Vintage cellars or independent bottle shops.

That said, there are as you say a few that are only slightly inflated over DM's. I've been finding a lot of value in this sale the past couple of weeks :)

    • I agree. I've had some rough sauvignon blancs that compare to $5-6 dans specials that have "rrp" prices of $20 on cellarmasters.

The big discount coupon deals seem to be the only times its worth buying a lot of them.

  • +4

No beer or cider listed on the site anymore FWIW, so can't get this or this

    • Bit of a shame.

    • Damn was a good deal until I read your comment haha

      • I heard they sold 500,000 cases of beer through this deal! Not sure if it's try.

        • *true.

  • Single malts?

    • +1

i think they only sell Wine

    • +1

      They only sell wine.

This deal for 10 "good wines" and a black label, would come in at $115, not bad, black label normally around $40 so those 10 wines cost $7.50 each.

        • $7.50 is slightly on the high side for Riverland/Riverina/Wine of Australia (without a specific named region.)

  • +3

The $160 Mystery Fleurieu Cabernet Sauvignon 2015 is the Dandelion Vinyards Pride of the Fleurieu Peninsula Cabernet Sauvignon 2015.

    • +1

      got one case, it's nice

    • Not great for the $190 mark, what did you use to top up to optimise the discount?

      • I got the Zontes Footsteps Lake Doctor, which was a mystery at $150 a dozen, but they are out of stock. I thought $229 for a dozen of each was damn good.

      • +1

I added the "Stonyfell Delights" gift box for $35 (one reasonable bottle of shiraz + snacks). That's probably not the best value-wise, but it gets it just over the $190 threshold, and gets me a spare Christmas pressie, so was the best I could see. Would have got a case of beer, if that had been available, but they're all out of beer and cider :-)

      • +1

You could do a lot worse for 16/bt of cab sav. This is a quality wine which can go a long way.
30 back cider which are very nice.

  • +1

plus 10.5% cashrewards. brings stuff down to a decent price. wonder if it's grey imports

    • +1

Rewards are not payable when used in conjunction with payment by a Groupon Cellarmasters Voucher or other third party promotional vouchers.

    • +1

Edit: per TA’s comment above. Effectively, “damn”.

    • +1

      Band 28?

  • +4

Seems an extraordinarily complicated way of getting 50% off a spend of $190.

    • Probably because the $10 for $100 coupon was between Groupon and Cellarmasters, and then OP negotiated the 50% off the $10for$100 with Groupon.

  • I think if you've spent $190 in the past then you can buy this voucher, as my wife bought the voucher alone for $10.

Either that or their systems are broken.

    • +1

      Sorry, I don't understand you.

      • Sure it does. If you have spent $190 in total from past purchases through Groupon, then you have satisfied the $190 condition. Where does it say that you need to spend $190 in a transaction now to be eligible for the $10 purchase?

        • I've spent almost nothing on Groupon and could buy this voucher.

    • +1

      This does not compute

  • +1

their marketing through phone calls and mail is too persistent.

    • Unsubscribe newsletter. Tell phone marketers to stop calling. Should work

    • No Torbreck comes up when searching on their site?
    • 2 types of penfolds (port and a 2x RWT Pack)
    • 2 types of Peter Lehmann

    Hard to "Enjoy well-known brands"

    • some of their less known brands are pretty good if you know what they're. Not many well known brands anyway, but if you find the one you like, you could score a bargain when there're codes around.

    • There are literally thousands of (quite) well known brands if you know your wine. You only quote 3.

    • -1

You only know three wine brands, yet two were stocked. Seems hard to complain.

  • Probably worth mentioning that Cellarmasters has a 100% money back guarantee
    From there website-
"So if you try a wine and you’re not 100% happy with it, just call us on 1800 500 260 and let us know. We’ll credit the cost of the wine to your Cellarmasters account and, if necessary, we’ll collect any remaining bottles."

    • +2

Don't be embarrassed to do this. The customer service workers don't care.

    • Yep the last few months they have been worse than normal too. I've been getting a letter from them twice a week with there stupid $25-$50 "gift cards" that you need to spend $200 to use.

      • +1

If you ask them, they will stop. They don't want to waste their resources.

        Complaining here won't help!

  • +1

Thanks so much OP. I've been waiting for a $100 voucher to stock up on sparkling!

  • Does the groupon deal end tonight or the voucher itself?

  • the constant harrassment that you get from cellarmasters is not worth it, theyve called me three times on my phone asking for feedback and to join their club and they have sent multiple letters to my house. This was after their last promotion of 36 bottles of wine for 100 bucks

    • +3

      Hi sixpointnine,

You haven't returned our calls in the past hour. We just want to know what you think about us? Please join our newsletter for promos!

      Cheers,
      John Wick

  • Anyone got any recommendations?

Looking for wine for someone who rarely drinks wine and is new to the country. Would be nice to try a different one each week. More into the "good taste" (maybe cheap?) rather than the exotic/fine tastes that would be wasted on us.

    Just for some fun.

    • +1

I'm a fan of the Aldi Clare Valley Merlot for a cheap (<$6), good tasting wine to try out..

      • Thanks for the honest advice! :)

Don't think ALDI can sell alcohol in QLD though :(

        • +1

Ah, that is a shame! If you do get a chance to visit NSW, the Hunter Valley is great fun with lots of natural sights and plenty of wineries to try out local offerings. Cellar door prices are also quite reasonable and there's great variety too.

        • @cyssero:

Just buy a case of wine that has lots of different varieties in both red and white.

  • Did this with the same deal the other week. 10 reds & gin.
Had 1 of the reds last night - really good. (all are $20+ bottles and work out at <$8 per bottle)

Was that impressed bought the same deal today :)

  • +1

Cellarmasters is mostly home-brand wines - fictional wineries on the label with equally fictional RRPs listed.

    Are there any real bargains?

    • Some of the fakes are quite drinkable. They also have a reasonable selection of better quality stuff if your re happy to pay $25 a bottle.
What they miss is sub-$10 mainstream brands, but they are literally everywhere else so it isn't a huge loss.

    • The Dandelion Vinyards I mentioned above.

  • Awesome. Thanks.

  • +1

I bought the Moet last time $300 +$10 Groupon - $100 for case of 6 = $35 per bottle. and the Brookland Valley Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon for $279 less the discounts. (Haven't tried that yet though will open a bottle tonight [note the 5 stars given on the site is from a staffmember] - the Cab Merlot is good)

  • Thanks, I brought the Cloudy Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2017(6 bottles) for $135 after the discount. Pretty happy with it.

  • Any feedback on this case of Pinot Noirs? Thanks

    https://www.cellarmasters.com.au/mixed-cases/wine/pinot-noir…

  • Thanks. Bought the 10x reds plus Tanqueray gin. With pickup it ended up being $116.20 net cost. Then possibly $0.25 Cashrewards for Groupon and $13.36 Cashrewards for Cellarmasters.

  • Any chance of extending this deal?

  • For anyone that missed out on the Moet it appears Cellarmasters have restocked. Not sure how much more they have, but I just bought a 6 pack.
