Samsung Galaxy S8+ from $780, S8 $724, Note 8 $948/$956 Delivered (HK) @ amaysim eBay (2 Year amaysim Warranty)

1120
PING20

Better than the recently posted deals, and offering a 2-year warranty with a reputable mobile service provider. Confirmed via amaysim Live Chat that this is their official eBay store, and they are partnered with eBay.

Warranty is provided by Amaysim for the Direct Import models.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus $788 (grey/blue) $780 (gold) $796 (black) $804 (pink) (Select 'Direct Import' Model) BACK IN STOCK OUT OF STOCK AGAIN

Samsung Galaxy S8 $708 (black) $716 (all other colours) $724 (Select 'Direct Import' Model)
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 $1004 $948 $940 $956 (black), $940 $932 $948 (all other colours) (Select 'Direct Import' Model)

Delivery dates for the imports are mid-December, but this is pretty standard. Here is the last amaysim deal to get an idea on their delivery times and item quality.

First time posting a deal, so please comment if I've left out any details.

EDIT: CODE IS NOW WORKING. YAY

EDIT 2: Prices have changed several times, listed here as of 21/11/2017 @ 10:55 AM. IMO, the S8, and most of the S8+ colours are no longer a value buy.

EDIT 3: Delivery estimates are pushing deeper into December, so take this into consideration when purchasing.

This code can't be applied to your order ??

    Did you get it working?

    • Yeah I got the same issue, maybe they aren't a part of the sale?

      • Code is now working!

    • +1

      Ugh, I didn't try before posting. :(

      They're listed in the PING20 sellers though…

    • +2

      Code is now working!

Is this really Amaysim? Has zero sales against it (new account).. Why did they open a new account?

    • I'm not aware of them having an ebay store previously. I just posted the exact link to their store in Live Chat and they came back with 'great question: yes it is'.

They're listed in the sale, this store is in the sale search, and these items come up as results. Am I missing something?

      • Just looked a bit suss given there hadn't been any sales. Would have thought a larger organisation such as AMaySIM would have had some history in selling stuff (on Fleabay). Wasn't sure if some scammer spoofed their username or something (can happen).

        • Store was started in October, so I'm guessing this is their debut.

They bought Vaya a while back, so they have a little eBay experience via them.

    • +3

      See the OP.

Confirmed via amaysim Live Chat that this is their official eBay store, and they are partnered with eBay.

  • yeah I was tempted on this S8 Plus myself… hmmm

  • Has anyone got this code to work??

    • Code is now working!

  • When the code actually works, does it come with GST invoice for TRS claim?

    • +3

Says (HK) in the title. Assuming that means Hong Kong stock, no, not eligible for TRS. Allphones ebay has an s8 which comes to ~$850 after discount and then you'd get 10% back from TRS so pretty close to this price but Aus stock.

    • +2

It looks like the import model comes with a tax invoice, an added bonus for anyone travelling overseas in the next 60 days - see the bottom of the following post where a user posts a picture of their tax invoice.

  • looks like everyone one is amaysim live chat. Waiting time is way too long :)

    • +1

Just chatting with someone on there now; eBay have already confirmed there's an issue with the code on their store that should resolve shortly.

      • +1

Yup - below is the response from amaysim live chat rep

"Because it's just been update on us just today. And you can try it after a few hours."

        • Code is now working!

  • Is there any dual SIM model…

    • +1

yeah the one delivered from HK - Grey import so will have dual sim

      • Hybrid Dual SIM (Nano-SIM, dual stand-by) (One 3G/4G SIM and One 2G SIM) (N950FD - Direct import)

So one is 3G/4G and the other one is 2G only? But I think the majority of the provider are switching off their 2G support…

        http://www.amta.org.au/amta/news/51135.2g-networks-are-switc…

        • There is some contention as to whether the 2nd sim is actually 2g or 3g, I can't remember where but somewhere I read the 2nd sim was actually 3g - might be worth further investigation if you are looking at buying before giving up.

        • @jason101: as far as I can tell the exynos model uses 2g for the second SIM whereas I think the Qualcomm snapdragon can do 3g on the second SIM. But the Qualcomm cannot be rooted like the exynos. So I'm a bit of a bind.

  • 2 year warranty through amaysim or Samsung

They dont have any feedback I assume they are a new seller to ebay?

    • They are, but they've now confirmed for me twice via their live chat that this is their store.

      • Is there anyway Ebay can verify that it's the real Amaysim. You don't authenticate someone by asking if they are real deal, do you?

        • +4

I confirmed this with amaysim via their official site, not eBay.

  • Just contacted eBay, they confirmed it's a code issue.

And now Amaysim, they confirmed the same. Sit tight and wait for this to start working I guess!

If anyone is doubting the quality/ capability of the handset itself, don't. I've had the S8+ since mid this year as I acquired it for under $950 locally through Officeworks. Amazing phone.

    • +1

I second that. I got a S8+ as an upgrade from my iphone 6, downright gorgeous. Android has improved by leaps and bounds over the years.

      • I upgraded from an S6edge and was even reluctant to do that. Samsung's flagship model of phones have been honestly awesome as of late. I'm not speaking in regard to the Note models.

    Note 8:

    Both 64GB, 6GB RAM

    • Thanks, will add!

      • +2

That's for midnight black - import stock on the note 8 in other colours is $948

    • is Note 8 950FD model? unable to see details on ebay store.

  • +1

I just used the code in capitals and it worked

  • Estimated between Tue. 12 Dec. and Fri. 29 Dec.. Damn. Thats Fast.

    • Ha! Was just about to post the same disclaimer!

    • +1

That is about right for imports

      • +1

Not really.. Vaya shop 12 dec, buymobile au 8 dec, QD 27 nov, Shopping square 6 dec etc. Checked most of the sellers and this has the slowest shipping times.

      • I got the S8 back in July for $663 from this post S8 Deal & it was delivered within a week

      • Not right for grey imports from reputable sellers.

    • Yeah, this is a bit crazy. I bought S8 from previous deal, and it took 9 working days. It already drive me nuts.

  • +1

code working now. wasn't woking even with caps before

  • +1

Fantastic deal with the 2 year warranty, just nabbed one of the S8 models for $707.

Note; Estimated delivery: Tue, 12 Dec–Fri, 29 Dec (so don't order if for an Xmas gift!)

    • Non AU warranty and will have HK firmware on it? I'm still leaning to AU model just for ease of warranty and updates without chinese characters lol

  • Quick question:

For "Direct Import" would we get an Australian tax invoice with GST and ABN?
For "Australian Model" would we get an Australian tax invoice with GST and ABN?

    Thanks if you know!

    • See my post above.

      • Thanks for your replyl. Reading the other post, it sounds like GST is only added for >$1,000 purchases so would apply to Note 8 but not S8.

  • is the warranty worth the paper it's written on ?

    • They're a business based out of Sydney, so it comes under Australian consumer law.

If they went bankrupt, it would be up to the external administrator that takes over as to how warranties are honoured, but they'd be closely watched.

  • +4

Really want one, but I don't need one (my old phone is good enough).
People buy them asap so they will be out of stock so I won't be able to buy one.

    • Repeat after me: the Snapdragon 845/Exynos 9810 will be more powerful than an entry level laptop.

      Keep it together!

EDIT: LOL getting negged for this, do none of you understand what the new ARM micro-architecture is capable of??

  • Has anyone purchased a phone from Amaysim before? Any bad experiences?

  • +1

lots of useful info and answers ( re shipment time, invoices, 2nd sim etc) in comments here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/337361

  • I'm actually surprised that no one on the face of the earth hadn't take up the username amaysim.

  • Warranty is by Samsung?

    • Warranty is by Amaysim (as per title) for the Direct Import model.

  • is GST not charged on direct imports??

    • It is, but that only applies to the Note 8, and included in the price. See the comments in the previous deal I've linked in the post for more info.

Comments are actually unclear on this. Contact Amaysim live chat via amaysim.com.au for more info, but price will be as marked/discounted. TRS is a different issue.

  • About to buy but the checkout page says the seller changed the description. Can anyone see what's different?

    • There's been a lot of revisions, but only to do with postage info, quantities and them tidying up the description & images.

Still a 2-year warranty, price unchanged.

  • +2

    SOLD OUT! 18 SOLD WTF!

  • Does anyone know if there are major differences between the grey import and the AU Stock? Mobile bands etc…?

    • It's usually the F or the FD, which are simply the single SIM and dual sim model of what's sold in Australia.

In this case I believe it's the FD, and as Amaysim are an Optus reseller, they'd be up shit creek claiming this was an amaysim-compatible phone if it didn't support band 28.

All of that being said, this is sold out.

  • +1

S8 showing $716 after discount now?

  • Just a heads up for your guys, the direct import units are from UAE and FD model. If you are with Telstra and want to enjoy VoLTE/VoWifi, it's not for you. There is a possibility of flashing Telstra F firmware to FD model but it is your own risk.

    • They could be sourced from a variety of places, and for 950FD and 955FD you can flash in any regional firmware for the 950F/955F that you like.

As for Wi-Fi calling, I don't think the firmware matters beyond maybe which region.

      • I bought from Amaysim and as far as I know, people ordered from previous deal got UAE version. I am a Telstra customer and I know you are not able to use Telstra VoLTE/VoWifi on UAE version. For sure you can flash different firmware but the assumption is you know what you are doing.

        • +1

It's not that complex to do, but you're right that it's important to bring up the point that people should check their firmware when they receive their phone.

        • Not being able to use VoLTE on dual sim models has been stopping me from buying for some time now. Don’t know if flashing Telstra firmware on DS model will stuff up the phone or not. Can’t find anyone confirming this including whirlpool.

  • +1

Looks like the price had gone up as well now saying $716 with 20% off for S8 model not $708 as original pricing

    • +2

note 8 is down to $940 in some colours

    • The price just went back down to $708 again as I was checking out.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one.

  • FYI i got this response after asking their ebay store
    "Model number is N950FD.
Whilst we can supply an invoice, it is correctly formatted for taxation purposes and can also be used for expense and asset purchase claims. But if the purpose is for GST refunds, ie.TRS, we don't provide that type of invoice as for orders within Australia, we take care of any GST and customs charges. "

    • In previous deal, a guy already posted the invoice, no GST so cannot claim TRS.

      • So the invoice is not issued by an Australian entity? And if it's not, how can Australian consumer law be applicable to that purchase?

        • That quote states that it is covered by an Australian entity, which is why it is ineligible for the Tourist Refund Sceheme.

        • They will issue an invoice to you, but most likely the GST amount is 0.00, which means no claim for TRS. But Amaysim will look after your device in case of warranty claim for 2 years.

  • Note 8 seems like a good deal. Was waiting for Australian Stock Note 8 to go under $1000, doesn't look like that is happening anytime soon. So tempted to get this, but feel like its going reduce in price again closer to Christmas.

  • Are there any differences in HK stock as far as specs or firmware goes?

    • Some one correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the only difference in specs is that one phone is dual sim (HK) and the other is a single sim. Also, usually the HK stock has does not have the Australian Samsung Pay application, if you plan to use Samsung Pay in Australia.

  • Thanks OP. Bought one

  • I bought a phone from Amaysim last week. It does not work 100% and i don't even know what is happening with warranty. Last message i got is that somebody from warranty department is dealing with it…. and then they closed my case :(

    • can I ask what phone model and what is wrong with it?

      • Yeah i got an S5 (imported model) and the infrared (ir) blaster doesn't work.

        • keep on them. They need to honour the warranty!

  • Hi, anyone knows if tax is payable for a NOTE 8 arriving at Customs? What will be the declared value the original amount or discounted?

I purchased a ring for less than AUD $1K with discount but was still charged tax + other fees by Customs because of the declared value on the manifest was the original amount(1K+).

    • I don't think additional GST applies for any of these purchases; that's something amaysim has to handle on their end.

  • Are the direct imports the dual sim versions?

    • Most likely, but you'd have to confirm with their ebay store or amaysim's live chat.

They're either going to be FD or F models.
