Code MOONING achieves the same outcome

    • Beat me to it, was my first thought…

the "tight" part of tightarse's username seldom seems to get used, it could have been "flashtight"

Where to get a good battery for this?

  • Any idea how this compares to a sipik 68 clone in brightness?

    • +1

It has the same LED as the Sipik SK68, so assuming the driver can drive the LED at its maximum power limit, it should be the same brightness.

However some drivers are pretty poor with AA batteries, they only work well with Lithium batteries.

    Thanks TA!

Thanks TA - can never have too many flashlights… especially CREEs =)

  • 800 on these but not for the cheap fitness band? What has the world come to….

  • Any good deals and recommendation on 26650 zooming flashlight ?

  • Whoops, this is the second time I've bought one of these thinking it worked with AA batteries.

    • do u have to buy the batteries wtf i thought there were normal ones like just aa

      • Apparently they take lithium batteries that are a similar shape to AA, but they require a specific charger.

        • so i have to buy lithium batteries or does it come with the torch

        • @alexae86: You have to buy a 14500 battery and charger separately.

        • @ransworld: do u know where is cheap place i can get a battery for it and charger

        • +1

@alexae86: No. It takes regular AA batteries. I think rans is just pulling your chain.

Nice and sturdy Flashlight. Works ok with AA battery.

I've bought this exact torch from GB and it does work with standard AA. Seems reasonably bright but I've got nothing to compare it with, so I don't know how much brighter the alternate 14500 lithium (with a higher voltage) would be, nor how long the battery lasts in comparison.

        • @silvertone: 14500 makes it much brighter but the batteries themselves could buy 10 for these torches.

        • @alexae86: I might be wrong here. Looks like there were a bunch of DOAs when I bought my last one: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/194068?page=1#comment

      • -2

        yup…looks like it.
In the Q&A comments it looks like you'd have to buy 14500 battery…and that AA does not work in them. Very confusing considering they state "14500, AA" in the battery type.

        • +4

Got mine from the last deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/339499) delivered this morning coincidently enough.
          Standard AA works fine.

        • +2

Those people in the Q&A comments are being idiots as usual, there's always some real gems in there. The torch works with either an IMR 14500 or an AA battery — naturally, it will be brighter with the 14500, and the stated specs for a flashlight are usually for the 14500. Don't expect super bright performance with an AA.

          @44sunsets: one drunken reviewer states:

          Cons:
          - You need a non-rechargable AAA battery

        • +1

Um..harsh…I don't understand why I'm being negged for trying to see what battery this thing needs, and the information from the seller isn't exactly clear! At the time I posted there was NO comments from anyone who has already got the flashlight and could confirm if it works with AA batteries!

        • +1

@Stoibs: Hey mine too. Bright enough with AAs but I'll be purchasing 14500s anyway.

    • I received two afew days ago, both works and seem to only fit AA.

  • +1

got 1 from the last deal and 1 from here. thanks TA

  • +1

    Thanks OP!

  • Thanks! Got one!

  • Thanks TA, got one! :)

  • +1

Just landfill item if you intent to use it with eneloops. Its not bright at all. Maybe with 14500 batteries its brighter because those are 3.7v.

    • +2

i agree, i got this last time and its not very bright.
      its no where near 600LM….
my 320LM LED lenser is brighter

  • Didn't realise that you needed a special battery for this..

AA's sound like they work fine, but if anyone has a deal on a 14500 battery it would be appreciated muchly as I have purchased one of these.. Lol

  • +1

Hey TA with so many deals on Cree torches we really need some deals on these: https://www.gearbest.com/chargers-batteries/pp_43028.html
