  • In my opinion, using QF points to get things of Qantas website provides the least value. The best value for points is when it is used to buy or upgrade flights!

Great find. Good for those who accumulate QFF points at a slow rate. Points within an airline rewards program like this are usually worth more when redeemed for international flights. Those who have award points outside of QFF program need not worry as you can take advantage of the 25% points transfer bonus offer by Velocity Rewards. When taking up this option, a $100 Woolworths gift card costs only 11,520 points at VR as compared to 13,500 points at QFF.

  • Woot ~ Thank you very much for letting me know ;-)
Now, time to spend my little QF points.

If you want to spend FF points, spend it on business class flights. Economy flights and awards such as this have a exchange rate of about 10000 points to 100 dollars. Where as business class flight are only double the economy flight points, but $$ costs about 3-4-5 times more depending on the exact flight.

    • Agree but the upgrade is worth it only if you want and would have paid cash to fly J class regardless of whether you have points to redeem. If you find J class tickets expensive and would only take it up by points redemption, then the excess points required over Y class to redeem for J tickets do not have equal value to the cash price difference between J and Y. It's implied value is Y class price on a proportional basis (ie. you now have less points to redeem for Y tickets in the future due to today's upgrade redemption for J tickets).

  • I am poor so only fly budgo airlines. When I have compared redeeming Jetstar flights to shopping vouchers I have found the later better value.

  • Don't forget if you dont have many points opt for the $25 voucher @ 3375 points.

  • FFS, put the actual price in the title, please.
13,500 points for $100. Thats $266 for the 36,000 points needed for a return trip across Australia, or to Bali.
Doesn't sound that wonderful a deal, even if used on Jetstar. 100 pts off makes bugger-all difference. Maybe if they halved it …

    • Whats a return trip across Australia got to do with anything. There is no price so its not in the title, most QFF regulars would know 7250 points = $50 WW voucher.

    • I would prefer to see the costs in he explanation at the top too. I have no idea how much a QFF voucher costs. I know that using them for Business class or upgrades is far far better than quick trips around the country. I always thought the $$$s off items was always about what you could bargain at Goodguys or wherever and these vouchers don't seem to be that good value.

      • maybe then you have to find the tickets are available when you want to fly, so points for tickets do not always give you what you want.

As for business class any flight less than 5 hours** really is just pure indulgence. Not so appealing to a "bargain" hunter.

** Now a USA or Europe trip it make more sense

  • The one important factor with Qantas FFP is the accelerated rate of inflation in the last couple of years, and the resulting reduction in points' real value.

There was a time when signing up to Qantas FFP cost $70 (I remember paying that in 2004). Now it's free and heavily promoted in Woolworths stores. People who rarely bought flights can now rack up thousands of points quite easily, especially through the frequent 700 point specials available through combo BWS/DSE/Woolworths purchases. QFFP earning credit cards attracted quite high annual fees, but now anyone can earn points with the swipe of a free card.

I use my points as soon as I can. Raised enough to buy a $50 Woolworths card? Sold.

    • BTW why wait that long you can use for a $25 card as well (250 points off)
